Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

I got started at my local resort this year of 2009.

List your competitive highlights:

I did 4 competitions this year. Two Big airs and two Rail Jams. I made to finals in one of the big airs and didn't win, it was a winner take all type of thing and the dude that won landed a 1080 (HUCKED!). But I won one of the rail jams I entered so starting out I'm 1 and 4 with competitions.

What are you planning for next season?

I plan to enter USASA The Midwest Best Series. I'm hopefully going to camp this summer to progress my riding a little more and next year I'm going all out and going to win me some golds SON!!!

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

Taking first at Nordic Mountains 1st annual Showcase Rail Jam. There was no age division and most of the locals were entered and some of the park crew. I was stoked.

About Me

Why do you like this sport?

I like everything about it. The feeling when you stomp a new trick or just going big on a money booter and tweaking a nice grab and nice flat handrails. But snowboarding is a sport that you do on your own. You decide your style and it's all you that does it, not someone on the sideline or something nagging you. It's also just really fun to just chill and cruise the park with your friends.

Some Personal Information About Me:

I am 15 years old and live in Wisconsin. The snow up here is good. I like snowboarding and playing football-baseball. I really like hanging out with my friends. I'm always up for a good time. I'm a bit crazy.

What inspires you to compete?

Competition's are not my favorite thing but I do them because I'm trying to get noticed and they some how progress me every time I do them. I get really competitive during competitions so I just go crazy and land tricks I would never think of me landing.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to have a good job but people always tell me there's going to be nothing to do with snowboarding after high school. To be honest I don't care to be a guy that wakes up in the morning not wanting to go to work, I want to be the guy that's up and happy to go to work and the only thing that would make me happy is snowboarding so hopefully I'll find a career that's related to snowboarding.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Well I train in my backyard two times a week I have a mini box set up. Sounds dumb but I learn a lot of tricks on that box. I would go to my local park every day but its like 45 minutes away and I can't drive yet so I only get there around 3-4 times a week. I never miss the weekends that's for sure. But once in a while I'll go downtown and find some rails to hit. It's my first year doing real street rails and I really love them. I love progressing!
