I am a college Senior planning on graduating Spring '09 with a Management degree, but after college, I plan to enlist in the United States Navy with plans of making a longtime dream of mine a reality.
Initially, I started triathlons just to keep my pre-enlistment training interesting, but due to the maturity of my goals, the evolution of my mindset, and the lengthening of distances to my Ironman race (Last September '08), triathlons have become more a testament of my willpower than anything else. It's doing the impossible and cognitively stretching the capabilities of the body that really excites me. Instances of this would be running miles in sub-zero temperature blizzards, "cooling off" in a nearly frozen Lake Superior, and swimming across local lakes of Minnesota.
Perhaps the greatest elements of my success and future success in the Navy rely upon certain character traits such as Honor, Loyalty, Integrity, Perseverance, and Discipline. |
