Q&A - Competition

How did you get started?

Well my dad used to race & when I was 10 I went to watch a local race with my parents & really enjoyed it. Then just that christmas I woke up to an Arctic Cat 90' under the tree which I raced that upcoming season.

List your competitive highlights:

-2008 Canada Cup; 2nd moto holeshot & 2nd overall -1st race of CMRC 09' in Grand Bend, ON, first moto, I took off in fourth, & slowly worked my way up to my my very first 1st overall. -Round 3 of the CMRC Canada Cup. It was a mud race. I thought I had geared up into second but when the green flag went I was in neutral! I took off in a panic hoping to salvage at least a fourth place & ended up passing the leader 2 corners before the finish line & winning the moto!

What are you planning for next season?

My plans for next season are to run the ladies & possibly junior class in our local series & try my hardest by putting everything I have into accomplishing a 1st overall in the ladies class.

What has been your biggest accomplishment?

My biggest accomplishment so far would have to be 2nd overall at the 2008 CMRC Canada Cup National in Parry Sound, ON.

Q&A - Personal

What inspires you to compete?

I have a few inspirations. One of them being the thrill of being on the track. Coming out of the gate with upwards to 20 riders fighting to get to the first corner. Another inspiration of mine is Heather Byrd, consistantly prooving every time she throws a leg over a quad that women racers can do anything men can.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

Well, theres a few, but the one that sticks out the most happened just this past season. On the second lap on a practice day. I had just landed a small double and was going into a corner. The next thing I know my front bumper is smashed into a tree and im in the grass. Just about everyone that was on the track had stopped. It was pretty embaressing & I had a black eye and some bruises to show for it.

Why do you like this sport?

I love the sport of motocross racing. The moment after I finished my first moto ever I knew this was the sport for me. It was a time when I could just be one, on the bike, going through the motions. Every time I through my leg over my quad and ride the only thing that matters is riding, I can let my anger out on the track. It's an indescribable feeling. The friendly atmosphere makes it even better. Everyone gets along and is willing to lend a tool, spare part or helping hand if you need it. What more could you ask for?

What do you want to be when you grow up?

It would be a dream come true to be a professional motocross racer. Some say it's a crazy goal & will never happen, but it's the one & only thing I am passionate enough about to devote my every day to and make it a job. So until I am no longer capable of riding, it's my goal.

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

Yes, I do train. I bike & sometimes use weights. 7 days a week for 1 - 1/2 hours a night. It is tought to train every night with school & stuff but I know if I didn't train I would never be able to compete or get better in this sport.
