(Macon, IL) Osman Racing was able to make it to two different tracks this past weekend, but experienced part failures at both, turning a promising weekend into a disappointing one.

Friday night, the team made their first ever trip to the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL. The night started out well as the car was very fast in hot laps but the hope of a good run would run short as they experienced carburetor problems before the heat race and were forced to miss it, relegating them to a 17th place starting spot in the feature. The carburetor was fixed, the problem was diagnosed as the float valve being stuck open, and they made their way out to the track for the feature. The race went fairly uneventful and Osman Racing made their way up to 7th from their 17th place starting position before spinning out on the last lap, relegating them to a 12th place finish.

Saturday night brought Osman Racing to the "Mighty" Macon Speedway for the second time this year. The night didn't exactly start off the way they had hoped as they discovered that the left front upper control arm was bent. The problem was fixed, and they made their way out to the track for heat race action. Starting 2nd, They were able to get a decent jump and the lead but would not be able to hold onto it for very long. They ended up finishing in the 4th position, garnering them a 12th place starting spot for the feature. At the drop of the green flag, they could tell that something was amiss. After 10 or so laps of stagnant racing, something went terribly awry. Knowing something was wrong, Greg (Osman), driver of the Osman Racing Chevrolet Malibu, pulled to the infield, settling for a 16th place finish. It was later discovered that the problem was in the transmission but at the time of release it was still not known exactly what the problem in the transmission was.

Osman Racing is looking to get the problem fixed as soon as they can and may be returning to Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, IL but all details for the rest of the year are tentative at this point.

Alexander, IL - What was looking to be a good night for Osman Racing quickly turned sour as they picked up a DNF. A poor draw relegated their driver, Greg Osman, to a 5th place starting spot in the heat race and things were looking good. After a good start to the race, Osman quickly found himself in the 2nd position, trying to run down race leader and eventual winner Larry Russell, Jr. The run wouldn't last though as about halfway through the race, Osman got loose coming out of turn 2 and almost spun out. He was able to save the car but lost 2 positions in the process. The rest of the race would be fairly uneventful as Osman Racing would pick up a 4th place finish in their heat race. "It was just a rookie mistake," Osman would go on to say. "I was catching Larry (Russell, Jr.) and I just got back in the gas too hard, too quick and almost looped it. It’s disappointing but it happens."

The 4th place finish in the heat race would give them an 8th starting spot come feature time. Being late in the running order for the night, the track had dried out quite a bit and was considerably slicker than the heat race. It would take two tries to get the race started but once it did, Osman fell a couple positions. “I knew it was going to take a few laps for the (right rear) tire to heat up so I figured I would lose a few positions on the initial start. I didn’t really expect the car to be as loose as it was though.” About three laps into the race, Osman Racing would see their night come to an end. Through turns three and four they were in the middle of a 3-wide race for the 7th position when, coming out of turn four, the car on the outside got into the side of the #25 Osman Racing machine, sending it do into a spin. Before the car could get around, the car on the inside came by and hit the left front of the Osman Racing car, doing heavy cosmetic damage and blowing a left rear tire, retiring Osman Racing from the event with a disappointing 14th place finish, and a DNF. “It’s really disappointing but I was just in the wrong place at the wrong time. Coming 3-wide out of a corner here isn’t a good idea and I didn’t really know how good of a run the guy on the outside had. You can’t really blame anyone for it though. It’s one of those racing deals. We’ll get it fixed and be back this weekend.”

Osman Racing is looking at finally making it to Macon Speedway this Saturday. Earlier in the day though, be sure and make it out to downtown Decatur for the Cruisin’ Downtown car show, where the Osman Racing Show Car will be on display.

Macon, IL

Osman Racing finally made it's 2009 debut this past Sunday at Shepp's Speedway in Alexander, IL. In the first action of the night, the heat race, the Osman Racing Chevrolet Malibu would start from the third position. The track was not in the best shape and the car was not handling well at all. After fighting the car for the entire race, they ended up with a fifth place finish, earning a tenth place starting spot in the feature. Come feature time, the track had smoothed out quite a bit and was in near perfect condition. With it being the first trip to the newly built track, they had to search around a bit for a fast racing line, finding it on the low side about half-way through the fifteen lap race. They ran in the top-ten for the entire race until two laps to go, when there was a four car pileup, all of which were running in the top ten as well. After the linup was reset, Osman Racing found themselves in fifth place with a one-lap shootout coming up. The green and white flags came out and they were able to protect their top-five spot and finished with a very respectable fifth place finish in the first night out in 2009.

For the upcoming weekend Osman Racing will be making trips to two track they visited last year. Friday night, they will be making the trek to Farmer City Raceway in Farmer City, IL and on Saturday they make the 2009 debut at their home track, Macon Speedway in Macon, IL.

Looks like the bad luck bug has bit once again.

Osman Racing and it's fans will have to wait another week for the debut. Due to some unforeseeable circumstances, they will not be able to compete this weekend in the three events that were planned. This makes for quite the setback for their driver, Greg Osman, in the newly formed Central Illinois Street Stock Series as he will miss the first two races, the first at Macon Speedway and the second at Shepp's Speedway in Alexander, IL. They are hoping, however, to be able to make it out next weekend at Macon Speedway for weekly racing action. The Raminator monster truck will also be there to show off some of his moves as well as the POWRi mini-sprints.

Well, it's been a long wait but the debut is finally set. Greg Osman will break out the Street Stock next Saturday (May 23rd) for the first race in the newly formed Central Illinois Street Stock Series (CILSSS) at Mighty Macon Speedway. The very next night, Greg Osman makes his first trip to the newly built Shepp's Speedway in Alexander, Illinois for the second race in the CILSSS. On Monday, he will make the return back to Macon Speedway for the first NASCAR Night of the year featuring NASCAR drivers and Macon Speedway co-owners Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace as well as local favorite and NASCAR Nationwide driver for Penske Racing, Justin Allgaier.
