Captian Scott Bierwiler was killed in an car accident on 02/19/09. It was believed that the vehicle was stolen and the suspect was a sixteen year old.

This has been created in rememberence of a good friend, and an admired leader. Those who knew him, knew how kind and thoughtful of a person he was on and off duty. Capt. Bierwiler was a commander who cared for each deputy/person and was always positive in his words. He also was a wonderful family man, and cared for his wife and three children.

Capt. Scott Bierwiler will be greatly missed by his friends, family, and co-workers. Our prayers are with all who knew him.

It is with great sadness that the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office announces the in the line of duty death of 42-year old Captain Scott Bierwiler who was killed early on February 19, 2009 in a head on collision. Captain Bierwiler has been with the Hernando County Sheriff’s Office for 23 years and leaves behind a wife, three children, his mother, a sister and a brother.

Team Hood Rats started during 1st period Mrs. Dickinson's biology class at Springstead High School.  The captain Andrew Smith (Mid-Back) and Josiah Ramsey(Mid) have been thinking about staring a paintball team for months.  Andrew didn't want to have a traditional paintball team where the team takes the prize money that they win and run off with it.  Some of Andrew's friends already have a charity event that raises money for Hernando-Pasco Hospice via a Motorcycle Poker Run.  Since he can not really do too much in that area he decided along with Josiah that the team would give a percentage of the prize money won to a charity that would be named at a later time.
