Anyone who rides mtb, knows once you have your bike set up you typicaly dont change much, right? Well I have had the chance lately to do some riding with some guys in the PRO class, and they gave me some hints on how to ride faster. The one thing that they seemed to notice , was how offset my weight on the back of the bike was! It was explained to me thats why I can't keep speed through turns , and some adjustments were reccomended by Jay Schippers from 661.
1. Ditch the 2" rise bars for 1" rise bars and keep them wide! Thanks to my guys at azonic for the world force 1" rise 30" wide bars.
2. Lower my crowns on my Marzocchi 888 to the lowest point.
3. Remove headset spacers and move to above the stem.
So I made the changes, and it took some getting used to , but man oh man do I feel faster on my bike!
Special thanks to my sponsors for keeping me on the bike and riding safe! 661, go pro, fluid, azonic/o'neal, evomo, frestyle watches.

So , I went down to Murrieta this weekend and hung out with my friends at I.E. Bikes (one of my accounts) .We went riding at a jump spot at rainbow known as the playground. The weather couldn't have been more perfect, it was cold, about 50 deg; but nice blue skies and the rains we have been having lately made the dirt perfect! Any who Ben the manager of I.E. Bikes rides a lucky 7 as well as I do. Ben had this HUGE jump in his sights since the last visit I had 2 months ago. He got the courage and took off ripping sown the trail! It was a monster jump, over 10 feet tall and about 30 feet long, you have to commit like crazy. You start out pinned down a fire road and hit a step down jump then send it off this thing! It was a GREAT thing to watch, it shows why we push it when we ride. That sense of accomplishment you are overcome with when you do something like that is simply amazing. Something that has been mentally taunting you for a while, and to conquer that fear. As for me i'm a big boy who , for a guy my size can jump pretty smooth but not at the level that Ben does. The KHS lucky 7 was put to the test this weekend and came out on top!
