Raymond’s race was postponed a week due to snow and the track still had some snow in areas, but other wise was great to ride, rough and sandy, with some interesting changes put in, making lap times around 2 and ½ minutes.

The extra week help to get my bike fixed, thou Id not ridden it with the new suspension, it turned out great even thou I couldn’t set it up for the track conditions, which meant I spent most of my riding time just trying to stay on the bike.  With luck this week it will get set up and be ready for next weekends races.

Race results where not as good as I would have liked but Im happy to have finished all races with no crashes .  Also being the first race within the classes the nerves did have a bit of an effect too.

Junior B finised 22 in the first Moto and 19th in the second moto.

Ladies finished 9th in the first moto and 7th in the second moto.

Well out of all the things that could happen two weeks before a first race this was one that I would not have expected.  For weeks the rear suspension has not felt right, right to the point of being uncontrollable at times.  Then finally it happend the collars on the bottom of the shock broke.  Really never thought the spring could sit on the swing arm....  back end drop at least 4 inches and would really explain the landing which felt like my knees took all of the impact....lol... ooouch....  All in all at least I didnt crash and didnt do major damage to my knees.  Bike on the other hand not looking too good as shocks arent cheap.  Other damaged parts are not confirmed yet, but heres hoping to getting it fixed, fingers and toes crossed....in 9 days???????  And the parts so far ordered are back ordered, still hoping need more toes and fingers to cross.

If anyone has a shock with a .46 rear spring and bottom collars kicking around that could get it to me in 8 days even if its a loner, it would be awsome.

In Memoriam: Brandon Byrd

We had a terrible tragedy here in West Texas this past weekend.  A 14 year old from Lubbock, TX was killed in a motocross accident.

Brandon Byrd was racing in his very first motocross race when the accident happened.  The accident happened at Steel Roost MX during ITS very first race weekend.  Brandon looped out jumping a table top and fell backward onto his head.

For some reason, this first race at Steel Roost attracted a large number of new racers.  The gate man was my motocross coach and he told me that he sent about 10 racers back to the pits for showing up on the starting gate with tennis shoes or without goggles.  One little genius even dared to show up without a helmet!  There is no reason for racing (or riding for that matter) without all of the safety gear.  I don't know if a Leatt Brace would have prevented this tragedy, but I can't help but think it would have made a huge difference.

So, gear up people!  I don't want to lose any more members of my motocross family.
