Never Give In To Pain

I just got into a car accident at around 65 mph. I dozed off coming back from a snowboarding trip with 3 friends. They were all sleeping and I was tired from only get about 2 hrs of sleep in 2 days. I fell asleep while driving and I hit an icy spot on the road and I went off the road. I saw trees coming up and at the last second I cut the steering wheel to the right so I would take the biggest hit from the crash. I was knocked out after hitting the first tree and woke up after going through the 4th tree to hear my friends yelling "get out of the car hurry." My left arm was broken, my right hand was ripped open in a bunch of spots from punching through the windshield, my pinky was ripped in half and my nose and mouth were bleeding. I crawled out of the car and started doing a military crawl up to the road. All my friends were fine but I was fucked up. My friend wrapped a pillow case tightly around my hand to stop the bleeding. The entire time I did not complain about pain even once all I did was make sure my friends were ok. I even made the police and doctors laugh by saying "if I can take a car crash at around 65 mph I definitly can be a UFC fighter." Remember NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER BACK DOWN.

Q&A - Personal

Why do you like this sport?

I like MMA because its is constantly changing and you can incorporate any style into it. If you watch a UFC fight and look into a fighters eyes when they are bleeding or wounded you see determination and fury. Thats what this sport is about; having the will and the ability to win. I am the same way as that. I never give up in my head and it pushes me to win.

Some Personal Information About Me:

As I am only 17 years old and live in NY i can only spar in my school. On tuesdays I submission grapple and on wednesdays I kickbox. So far I am 21-0 in grappling; I try my hardest not to lose and it pays off. I just started kickboxing but I am not too bad; I try to use my own style of standup and its pretty good. You dont really win or lose when sparring in kickboxing but its good training.

Describe your style...

My style in standup is really all over the place. Ive got a little bit of tai kwon do, some karate and some kickboxing even though I dont practice any of these disciplines. I really adjust what I do to the person I'm fightings style. My grappling game is extremely strong for my experience level. I've only been learning Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for about 1 month now but I can make anyone in my class tap out... Besides the Coaches :(. Im not really sure what my real standup skills are yet because I havent gotten a real chance to use them yet. Sure I spar but thats really not much. Basically my style is really just MY style.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

I want to be a UFC fighter. Since the first time I saw a commercial for the UFC to when I saw a UFC event I knew that is what I wanted to be. I know it will be extremely hard to get there but as soon as I'm 18 Ill try to go to as many amateur events I can. It will be a little hard because I have to work and I'm starting college in the fall but I know I can make time. I hope...

What inspires you to compete?

The thing that inspires me to compete is the feeling you get when you win; when you make someone tap out. I'm better than any other student in my school at submission grappling so I want to actually compete against people from all over to see if I've actually got what it takes. I mean being better than the people I train with really doesnt mean anything but if I go to constests and win even with the little amount of experience I have in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu then I'll know I was meant to be in this sport. I just wish Mixed Martial Arts was allowed in NY...
