2009 Race Schedule

This is my anticipated Schedule. I will update it as soon as I know I am going to compete. for more info I have included links to the race promoters website.

Tuesday nights beginning march 3rd! El Dorado park criteriums-the best twilight training races in SoCal-I'm going to try to hit all three series this year-give or take a few incidents (real life, etc...) maybe i'll see you on Tuesday night?

May 25th-Long Beach criterium

June 14th-Dominguez Hill Crit

July 12th-Long Beach Crit

August 2nd-Dominguez Hills Crit

You can get more info on these races at  www.californiabicycleracing.org

I would also going to attempt at least two TT's and a stage race this year, but those are not definite yet. we'll see how my season progresses. My main focus is of course the SoCal cyclocross series, and the Urban cyclocross series here in Los Angeles in 2009, so I am really using this upcoming road season to hone (learn) skills before september rolls around!

That is the scedule for now-I will update it as the season progresses-MM

Q&A - Personal revised for 2009

What inspires you to compete?

the excitement and pressure of competition. I am super competitive in everything-i'm not always prepared to compete but i'll give it a shot just for the thrill. I'd like to have a picture of me on a podium so my daughter and son can say "thats my daddy-he was really fast once"

Do you train? What does your schedule look like?

I try to. It is my main focus for 2009-serious training and staying on focus, and remaining relatively injury frss. I missed all of 2008 with a shoulder injury, and a second shoulder injury so this year i hope i have that all behind me. My family always comes before rides (even if they don't think so) so i need to come up with a workable schedule that allows me to not neglect or lessen the time I spend with my wife and children. I think I can make everyone happy and still get some good results in the road season and especially the upcoming 'cross season.

How's Life Treating You?

I am a very lucky man. I have an amazing wife who supports me even when she really doesn't think it is good for me, and a beautiful daughter who makes everything worthwhile and more importantly, makes me smile at the end of the day, and now I have a son on the way as of this update! I have a decent job that allows me to race and support my family. Me? I'm falling apart, but if the other parts of my life stay as fantastic as they are-i'll keep on going with a smile.

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

The last cross race this year-I was in horrible form, no sleep, no training rides, not prepared and in a really bad mental place. Should've stayed home, But i went to race anyway, got dropped in turn 1 lapped and dropped out after 1 lap. No mechanical this time, just quit. I hate quitting for no reason, so leaving the course in front of everyone was shameful-that is my last memory of this year so I am super focused on making 08 better.

What do you want to be when you grow up?

A grown up. No- I.m lying, that's just not true. A kid on a bike is closer to the truth. I like the thought of playing with my children instead of reading the business section.
