Q&A - Self Interview
How did you get started?
I have been a water baby my whole life. For as long as I can remember, I have been immersed in the ocean surroundings due to the fact that I have grown up just seconds from the beach. However, I think my greatest influence in surfing has got to be my daddy. My dad grew up in the seventies, surfing the first revolutionary boards at Malibu, Zuma, and other places along the California Coast, and he has passed down his passion to me. He is such a soulful surfer and that is exemplified in his daily life. He not only has passed on his love of surfing to me, but to my older brother, Jason, as well to both my older and younger sisters.
What are your goals for next season?
My goals for the next season are to travel as much as I can and explore the beautiful world that God has created for us. I would love nothing more than to experience different cultures first hand and witness the passion for life throughout the world through surfing.
What has been your biggest accomplishment?
My biggest accomplishment to date is the traveling I have done to various countries and places. I have been to Hawaii, Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia, and throughout the United States and I plan to visit many more places. Being able to surf in various countries with different landscapes, people, and cultures, has allowed me to grow into a cultured young woman. I wouldn't trade my triumphs and failures throughout my traveling for anything. I have loved every moment of being surrounded by something completely different than I'm used to and I cannot wait to see what is next for me!
What is your greatest inspiration?
My greatest inspiration is anyone who stands up for what they believe in. There is nothing stronger nor more powerful than staying true to yourself. I admire any person that keeps true to their values and morals, no matter how strong the influence to sway away from them are. One person who I feel truly captures this lifestyle is my Mother. She has always told me to stay true to my heart, and the rest will follow. Her nurturing and love throughout the years has allowed for each one of my siblings and family as a whole to grow into a modern day Brady Bunch! She captures the Aloha Spirit, something only a few individuals can truly embody, and has spread it througout not only my family, but each person she meets. My mom does her best to extend a warm welcome to anyone who needs it and always carries the Aloha Spirit that so many admire.
