Well isnt that kinda what being sponsored is? What are we suposed to think? I mean when a store has a 50% off sale it doesnt mean there sponsoring us it means there just selling it to us cheeper for what ever reason but still at a hight cost than they pay for it more than likely. Its like a company wanting a comircle and they make the actors pay for the gatorade that they drink on the comircial or the clothes there wearing. I mean sure its nice getting discounts but I can get a $20 blank deck at the shop or I can pay $30 for a deck thats like 20% off from a company thats sponsoring me.... So what do I get out of that? a loss of $10? and what do they get? a rep that has to pay to rep there company so there making money and getting a rep.

ya know your right but more often then most you will get a great deal on top of getting exposure and if your with the right companies they will bump your sponsorship up depending on how well you do as a sponsored athelete (i.e. placing in comps, spreading the word around about the company, getting local or national exposure in a mag or video) the reason they start you on say discounts or limited free product then discounts is because they are sorta testing you to how you will rep them along with yourself in the future sorta like a 50 50 deal but if you give more then expected then expect more

Yes, teams can create a profile and apply for sponsorship just like individual athletes. The deals are based on the company, but there are hundreds of sponsorship opportunities for teams.

Q: How do I know what companies I can apply to?
Sponsorship says:

Do find out exactly what companies you can apply to, you need to create a free account and go to the 'Sponsorship' link under 'My Home'. You need to fill out all of your contact and sport info first, but you will see all of the sponsorship opportunities that you can apply to.
