Blue Lake 1 Regatta. Competed in the Mens K1 1000m, and Mens K2 1000m.
K1 1000m, Got a close second in my heat earning me a spot in the semi, After winning my semi putting me into the Mens A Final. In the Final was two NZ Olympians and a handful of high rated paddlers. I had a near perfect race, pushing my body to its limits and more, I finished the race Third ahead of a stacked final. And only beaten to the line by Steve (00, 04, 08 Olympics) and a young fellow club team mate.
K2 1000m, I paired up with 2008 Olympian Mike, we had a hard race just coming off the K1 final and only after doing one training session prior to the race weekend we placed Third. All racing is tuff as the weekend doubles as the first selection for the national team.

weekend
I am now only 1 week from the first national sprint regatta taking place in Rotorua, New Zealand. Over the 17-18th October. At this stage i feel my lead up is working great, and i feel like i will perform at a high level. This weekend also doubles as a selection for national teams.

Hello all,
I am now coming up on the half way point in the tour... have done two regattas. The last was last weekend in Bochum Germany. 57th International U23 regatta. I made four finals and finished the weekend with a Silver and Bronze.. i am very happy with my progress and still building up for what is to come in London in 3 years..
Unfortunitly i am not paddling in a New Zealand national team whïle in Europe so all my results and progress will have no funding support when i return home to NZ. But i see that my time spent in Europe is the way to make me a better athlete for the future... Its just with times tuff in the money department i could strick a problem going away next year...
So if you in any way could help me out that would be great. Its great having people behind supporting you..
Thanks Heaps

Hi everyone,
I am over the moon to now be working with Quantum Kayaks from Australia,
Quantum makes racing kayaks, these boats are top of the line and for once they are cheaper than the rest..
I can not wait to race my new kayak here in NZ and hoping of winning a national title in it in a month or so.
As for my paddling everything is going great, helping junior athletes in prep for the Australaian Youth Olympic Games. (come on guys bring back the silverwear)
Going to Australian Grand Prix 2 soon, again Marty and I would love to make the podium before we return to NZ for the nationals the to Europe for World cups..

day one. my first event was the k1 1000m competing in under 23 age group. I sadly missed out on a spot in the final but I still had a good race. Because I was in the second heat and a team mate prior had already taken a spot in that final it was a dead race with no real out come other than a place. Next event was the k2 1000m with scott our pair finished second very close 2 hundriths of a second behind 1st past junior world champs. We made it to the final but again I was in able to race as our other team won their heat. Next was the k4 1000m we finished a easy second and made the final this time were able to race. In that final we finished 5th what is very good up against two teams older and trialed for the world champion Hungary team.

Over the last two sundays the NZ kayak Team has done a 5km Time Trial each day.
The first weekend weather was not on our side with a really low tide and high winds. I managed a 1st place with the time of 21mins. i was disapointed with this result.
Today, was our last 5km TT before we leave for Europe. Conditions were alot better with a full tide and little to no wind..
I was going out to achive a new Personal Best and was happy at the end of it to have achived that. 18 mins 54 seconds, this time ranked me number one for the second week in a row.
My coach Alan Thompson, two times Olympic Gold medalist set the course and record back in the 80's, Till today that record has been safe out of reach. I am very happy and proud of my hard work to now have the new course record.
I would like to thank Alan (my coach) alot for the time and skills he spends on helping me achive my goals.
Im STILL searching for sponsors, Supporters to help fund for a much needed new racing kayak.
