The sponsorhip offers keep rolling in from SponsorHouse! My latest offer is from Gizmo Gear. Gizmo Gear makes really cool clothing for cyclists and runners. They make a variety of jersey’s, hats, t-shirts, visors and tons of really AWESOME socks.

ABOVE: Gizmo Gear psycho ward cycling team t-shirt. My husband’s birthday is in a couple of months, I think he’d like one of these shirts. SHHHHH, don’t tell him!

Just FYI

SponsorHouse is one of the best sites I’ve ever signed up for. I originally signed up for the free account, which lets you submit up to 5 sponsorship applications. There are currently 99 sponsorship opportunities listed for my sports - cycling and running. I decided to upgrade to the Premium Athlete account on SponsorHouse, which costs $39.95 per year and lets you submit unlimited sponsorship requests. I have submitted 28 applications so far, 2 applications were rejected, 12 offers were made to me and I accepted 10 of those offers. I’m still waiting to hear back from the other 14 companies.

Not too shabby for a 44 year old soccer mom. Who would have thought anyone would want to sponsor me? But I don’t think I’m the average soccer mom. I’m really enthusiastic about cycling, especially road biking, and have just begun to get into running. I am a freelance writer, so that is probably attracting more sponsor offers. The companies see that I have two active sports related blogs, Bike Diva and Charity Fitness Events, so they know they will get lots of write ups about their companies on my sites.

Freestyle Watch logo

Just got my Freestyle Solstice watch a couple of days ago. It's pretty sweet! I took it out for a test run this morning. Well, a test walk-about. I did a total of 6 miles - about 2/3 walking and 1/3 jogging. Got to start somewhere in my training for my first marathon.

Solstice Freestyle Watch

I haven't learned how to use all the bells and whistles on the Solstice watch yet. I did use the stop watch function to keep track of my total time. The watch is very comfortable and has a durable, water proof strap. Much better than my last sports watch, which had a fabric/velcro strap that was always getting soggy - YUCK!

Thank you again Freestyle for sponsoring me!

Take care,

Lynn AKA the Bike Diva

Evomo just made a sponsorship offer to the Bike Diva through her SponsorHouse account. Who/what is Evomo? Here is a blurb I took off their website:

"Evomo is the most progressive lifestyle clothing brand to hit the mountain bike scene. We are providing fresh, original designs and accessories for the style minded rider"

Although they are billed as a mountain biking company, they make a totally SICK line of clothing that appeals to a broad range of extreme athletic personalities. I am a multi-sport chick - mostly a road biker, but I also enjoy hiking, running, freak biking and occasional runs on the mountain bike.

I’m getting me one of Evomo’s totally radical Venom Acid t-shirts, which is pictured above. Don’t know if I’ll even be able to wear it or not, my son or husband will probably try and steal it from me so I guess I should order it in their size. I’ll have to get one of the mondo cool Evomo chick shirts. I’ve got my eye on the Evomo Braincase t-shirt, I don’t think my son will try and steal that!

Check out the Evomo website, and get yourself some crazy, sick clothing!

DISNEY MARATHON

I did it - last week I signed up to do the Disney Marathon, with Team in Training. The Disney Marathon takes place on January 11th 2009 in Orlando, Florida.

Since I'm mentoring the fall Team in Training cycle team, I can't get to the weekend team runs until after I've completed the Intracoastal Century Ride on October 26th. But last night I met the husband and wife Delray Beach marathon coaches. They do a team run every Monday and Wednesday night from Linton Blvd.

Geeez, guess this means I'll actually have to start running?

RAISING MONEY FOR TEAM IN TRAINING

Couldn't get my husband Rob interested in signing up to do the marathon, but he said he could help me with my fundraising for Disney. If ya'll have any spare cash lying around - here's a link to my marathon fundraising page: Lynn's Disney Marathon Page.

I haven't quite finished my fundraising for the century ride, and now I've signed up to raise more money for the Leukemia Society - yup, I'm totally bonkers.

MORE RUNNING?

As a bonus for signing up for the full marathon at Disney, on December 7th, 2008 I'll be doing the half marathon at the Marathon of the Palm Beaches as a training run.

Hey, who wants to do the ING Miami Marathon? That's just a couple of weeks after Disney. And I heard it's a qualifier for the Boston Marathon - evil evil evil Just kidding, I'm in the "I just want to finish without passing out" crowd, not going for any particular time.

THE COST OF HECKLING

So if you happen to see a hippopotamus in jogging clothes, slugging around the roads of Delray Beach, please try to restrain yourself from making any derogatory comments. I've already been heckled by passing motorists and I don't need any more wise cracks. Unless you want to make a donation to my fundraising - in that case wise cracks are $25, gawking costs $50 and an entire heckling session will cost you $100.

I guess I should get a few photos taken of me actually running. The only action shots I have of myself are of me riding a bike.

Let the fun begin. icon_cheers

Take care,

Lynn AKA the Bike Diva, or should I call myself the Run Goddess now!?!

I am happy to announce that I received another sponsorship opportunity today.

BNRG, Inc., which stands for BioNutritional Research Group, just made me a sponsorship offer through my SponsorHouse account. BNRG makes a variety of nutritional supplements including Proto Whey, Alpha Glutamine, Cell Charge and Power Crunch protein bars.

Power Crunch bars provide 13 grams of protein per bar, and come in 7 delicious flavors including triple chocolate, peanut butter creme, French vanilla creme, peanut butter fudge, wild berry creme, cinnamon bun and cookies & creme.

I look forward to working with this exciting company and helping to promote their Power Crunch protein bars!

Take care,

Lynn Smythe AKA the Bike Diva

I'm excited to announce my latest sponsorship offer from Freestyle Watches. One of my running chick friends says she uses a chronograph watch to help her train for all her marathons and other running events. I started researching various models of chronographs the other day. Then today I received a message through SponsorHouse saying that Freestyle Watch was offering to sponsor me - AWESOME!

I can't wait for my Solstice Freestyle Watch to arrive. I ordered it in the light blue color, as most of my current running clothes are blue. Here's some information on the Solstice watch from the Freestyle Watch website:

The epitome of summer, whether it means lounging at the river, lake or beach, the Solstice has the style and functionality to handle the longest of days.

  • Durable dual injected polyurethane strap

  • Polyurethane wrapped buckle

  • Time/Day/Date

  • Dual Time Zones

  • Night Vision™ Backlight Display

  • Chronograph

  • 45-Lap memory

  • Countdown timer/3 Alarms

  • 100 Meters H2O

In addition to being a long distance road cyclist, I have recently added running to my athletic pursuits. Last Tuesday I signed up to do my first 1/2 marathon and full marathon with the Leukemia Society's Team in Training program. On December 7th, 2008 I will be running a 13.1 mile half marathon at the Marathon of the Palm Beaches which takes place in West Palm Beach, Florida. And if running just over 13 miles isn't enough, on January 11th, 2009 I will be running a full 26.2 mile marathon at the Disney Marathon in Orlando, Florida. Let the FUN begin!

Take care,

Lynn Smythe AKA the Bike Diva and soon to be Run Goddess
