How I Got Started:

My dad and I have always gone to the Supercross races in Dallas ever since I can remember.  Every time we went to the races he said we needed to get some bikes and ride.  I had a friend who used to bring his Honda XR70 out to my ranch and ride.  We used to take turns riding it.  My mom thought it would be better for me to have my own bike to ride with him, so she got me one.  My mom does not know much about motorcycles and bought one she thought was a good size.  My dad came over to my house and asked my mom if she knew what she had done?  She said, "No, why?"  My dad told her she had bought me a race bike.  It is a 2000 Yamaha YZ80.  After that my dad bought himself a bike and we started riding at local tracks.  I figured out that I like riding tracks a lot better than trails.  After I learned to ride okay, I thought I might like to try racing and asked my dad to look into it for me.  I didn't like racing after my first two motos because I crashed pretty hard in both.  I gave it another try and decided I liked it.  I am looking forward to getting some professional instructions in the near future and becoming a better, faster rider.

Bio

My name is Samantha, I am a 17 year old girl and I race motocross out at Burleson Motocross Track in the 85 beginner and 85 open classes. I race against practically all boys and maybe one or two girls every now and then. I practice during the week if I get the chance or I practice on Saturday before a race or just to get time on the bike. I like to ride out at Brushy Creek MX Track, Caddo Point MX Track, Broaddus MX Track, Boondoxx MX track, and I am trying to get to go to Athens MX Track and Palestine MX Track. In my spare time I like to play tennis, go hunting, shoot skeet, and hang out with friends.  I am currently on the the Junior Varsity Tennis and Softball teams at my High School.  I am also in Future Farmers Of America (FFA).  This year for FFA I will be raising a steer to show at the area stock shows and rodeos.

Competitive Highlights

My competitive highlight would have to be when I was racing and I led the race for about 3 laps, until falling in a corner. I was able to pick up my bike and still finish 3rd.
