MESA, Arizona, November 25, 2009 – DragonFire Racing (www.dragonfireracing.com), the leading manufacturer and supplier of aftermarket racing and performance parts for ATVs and UTVs, today announced its Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki-sponsored Teryx won the Sportsman UTV Division at the 42nd Annual Tecate SCORE Baja 1000, the granddaddy of all desert races. The 2009 Baja 1000 – which started and finished in Ensenada, and drew more than 250,000 spectators – covered 672 miles of rugged desert terrain, which the DragonFire Racing/Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki vehicle finished in a winning time of 24 hours, 32 minutes, and 37 seconds (24:32:37).
This year’s win in the Baja 1000 marks the second major title of the year for DragonFire Racing/Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki. Earlier this year, the same vehicle won the Tecate SCORE Baja 500, while DragonFire Racing ended the year by taking home a points championship in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series sponsored by Geico Powersports. DragonFire Racing/Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki’s winning Baja 1000 vehicle was driven by Reid Nordin of Lake Elsinore, Calif., Hans Waage of Scottsdale, Ariz., Todd Romano of Park City, Utah, and Larry Roeseler of Boulevard, Calif., who managed to race in two separate vehicles – placing second in the Norman Motorsports Trophy truck, and then completing the last 150 miles for DragonFire Racing, making this year’s Baja 1000 crown his 18th Baja victory.
“It takes a team to win the Baja 1000, and this year – as well as for years to come, I believe – we are the team to beat,” said Todd Romano, President, DragonFire Racing and one of the winning drivers. “With the support of Team Green Kawasaki and our DragonFire “Nessie” Teryx, we proved that we’re not just another car on the race course but one of the fastest cars in Baja, winning or taking the podium in all but two 4-wheel vehicle classes.”
Nearly 350 teams from more than a dozen countries compete in 29 pro and six sportsman classes for cars, trucks, motorcycles and ATVs at the Baja 1000, which is hands-down the oldest and most well respected of all desert races. Since 1967, the race has been run over the Baja California peninsula every year except 1974, when the international fuel crisis forced its cancellation.

The 2009 Tecate SCORE Baja 1000 will be televised by NBC at 2:00 p.m. (EST) on Sunday, December 19, 2009, and is scheduled to air on a delayed basis outside of the U.S. on ESPN International.

DragonFire Racing loses the motors and brings their pedals to the 15th Annual 24-Hour National Championship series in Moab Utah last weekend.
In fourteen years time this race has become one of the single greatest mountain bike races in the history of the sport. For one short weekend, a mountain bike city grows up out of the desert graze-lands and host more than 2500 racers, support crews, and spectators in a stunningly beautiful, completely remote venue and then, in two days, it’s gone. The 24 Hours of Moab, is a world-class event that draws teams from all over the world. The racing was marked by outstanding performances, mighty winds early on, and a determination to have fun, come what may. In the tent city that surrounds the pits and timing tent, more than 2500 racers and support crew endured the cold night and blowing sand.
I would like to thank my sponsors for making this all happen. I rode my Specialized S Work Epic up and down some of the most demanding terrain myself and the bike has seen. Of the 7 hours I spent on the bike, 5 were in Darkness. The new DFR LED lights made the night riding both easy and fun. When most riders were slowing down or walking the difficult decent, the beam pattern and brightness allowed me to stay on the bike and descend at daytime speeds.
Ogio and Domani Trailers provided us the creature comforts of home. With freezing temperatures at night, the hot showers, plasma Tv’s, full kitchen and beds for the team allowed us to stay strong through the grueling event.
We have Beat the Baja, and now have beat the 24 hours of Moab. Endurance Racing is a challenge of the mind, body and soul. As much as you battle the competitors you battle yourself even more. My youngest daughter asked me why I continue to participate in these events and I had to pause and give it some thought. These are memories we should not live without, these are times when you learn who you truly are, and these are opportunities to experience and do what other people can’t. In a difficult economy 1600 racers traveled from all parts of this world with their family and friends to win or just finish this race. They did it for their own specific reason, but the common one was “To Do What Other People Can’t”.

Baja or Bust
We took 14 new People, 7 new DragonFire Equipped Kawasaki Teryx’s, and we headed to Baja last week to see if our cars and customers could beat the Baja. I had the luxury of brining my wife, but she insisted that she got to drive the Teryx, and I would ride my KX 450 all weekend. I also got to spend the weekend with my friends Lori and Larry Roeseler as well as the DFR support crew of Jack and Darren, and my could friends from ITP. It was amazing to see all these new vehicles, new people to both Baja, and off road driving, put the DFR products to the test. Each Kawasaki Teryx had our Black Magic Long travel kit, DFR 2 Seat Cage, Seats, Seat Belts and DFR Performance package. The weekend was a testament to what we do, and how well we prepare. A Fuse, a dead battery and a few flats from driving in the dust was all we encountered the entire weekend. Every DragonFire Prepared Kawasaki Teryx and each one of our customers made it back from 420 Miles of driving with no issues. As a designer, a racer, and enthusiast, it was exciting for me to see the products we develop work so well and without failure. We spend a lot of time testing, but to have new people try to go brake our products and come out unscathed was the highlight of my weekend.
