OverviewHow I got startedQuestion: You?ve been racing motocross since you were 7, what made you want to start?
Vicki: It started as a jealously issue. My brother and my dad were racing so I had to race too.
Question: There weren?t many girls racing motocross back then, what was it like competing?
Vicki: I was practically the only girl on the line in the Pee Wee classes. The parents thought I was cute until it was their kid that I beat. After my 5th place finish at a KTM Jr. Supercross Challenge, everyone accepted me as a serious competitor and it wasn?t so bad to finish behind me.
Question: You said it was jealousy that got you started racing, what made you keep going?
Vicki: When I moved up to the 65cc classes, I managed 14 straight podium finishes at Barona Oaks, Perris Raceway, Competition Park and Starwest. To me, that proved I was really good, not just good ?for a girl? or good at one track, but really good, period! Goals for the FutureQuestion: So what are your plans for 2007?
Vicki: Well, this will be my freshman year on big bikes. I`m anxios to see how I do against both the women and the men. We plan on racing the Lake Whitney Spring Classic, the GNC International, Las Vega World Mini`s, Mammoth Mountain and of course, Loretta Lynn?s again. BioWhy do you like this sport?"It started as a jealously issue. My brother and my dad were racing so I had to race too." Describe your style...Everyone who?s worked with me says I?m smooth and controlled, like Kevin Windham. Do you train? What does your schedule look like?I do push ups and sit ups every day. I run a lot but not every day. I`ve trained with Craig Monty, Andy Harrington, Josh Tarantino, Mike Sleeter, Marty Smith now I`m lucky enough to be training with Jesse Casillas. I also ride at least twice during the week between races. What do you want to be when you grow up?I`d love to be a motocross trainer. It?d keep me close to the sport I love. All my trainers tell me teaching comes easy to me. In all of my group classes, I?m singled out to demonstrate the correct way to do certain turns, starts, seat bouncing, brake checking in the air and other stuff. When I do things correctly and it works, that inspires me a lot. Competitive Highlights
