what inspires me to compete is to get better at what i do and get better at my contest surfing. i see people out there in their heats just killing it and i freeze up a little so the more i compete the more comfortable i will be out there in a real heat.
surfing, i really got into last year, but i had surfed on and off. last year and this year i've really stepped it up, i got a sponsor and started surfing a lot in contests and been doing just a lot better lately. most of my friends i've met surfed and they kind of called me up when they were going, and i went more and more and have really gotten to my next level.
i haven't had an embarrassing moment but i guess me sitting on my birthday cake would qualify.
the music that i listen to most is alternative, and my dad just showed me some new african techno by M.I.A. and i've been listening to that a lot. i listen to rap too, but i really like any music that fires me up to go surfing.
I'm regular stance, and my style would probably be called "progressing" because I'm not as good as all my friends. i watch a lot of videos, Noah's arch, the trilogy, frothing, those have really enhanced my style and knowledge of how i should surf and execute different maneuvers.
