IT Happens!!!

You know IT will happen someday
if you participate in an extreme sport such as mountain
biking or BMX...

As Collin Stiles (Stiles Industries Training Camp) says,
"The best part about wrecking is watching someone else do it!"

Now...
What are you going to do???

THIS???

                 OR

THIS...

The CRASH PAK from Brave Soldier...
Lightweight, Resealable, Waterproof,
Convenient, Affordable, and
ALL YOU NEED for those trips to the
track or trail.  Fits easily into your pack.

Then when IT happens, you're ready!

Here we go...Step One...
Clean the wound with Antiseptic Towelette.

Step Two...
Soak the Nu Gauze Surgical Sponge in water then gently scrub
out any dirt or rocks that are in the wound.

Step
3...
Sterilize the wound with the Betadine Swab.
(Cool!!!  Bubbles!!!)

Next...Step 4...
Antiseptic Healing Ointment to prevent infection and speed
healing, and
Step 5...
Cover the area with Non-Adhering Dressing and secure in
place with Stretch-Net burn gauze to protect.

And in less than 5 minutes of the CRASH...
Jacob is back out on his bike!!!

OKAY, SO LET'S RECAP...

Do you want this???

                     OR

This??? (Easy Choice, isn't it???)

THE MAKING OF BRAVE SOLDIER SPOTLIGHT:
                   BLOOPERS

We got rolling about 1030 in the morning.  Yay, heading to Tulsa...
Once arriving in Oklahoma, we found a couple of neat things, McDonalds over top of the
highway

And the Dreaded Turnpike Toll Trolls

Finally, in Tulsa and looking for a place to rest our weary heads.

Oh no, Jake discovers that he has a broken brake cable, we checked the yellow pages
and found a bike shop right around the corner from the Radisson.

Go Bryan of Bicycles of Tulsa 918-665-2453

Replaced brake cable trued rear tire, 15 minutes, no waiting, although they had a full
shop. Less than a sawbuck.  These guys rock!

Off to bed, early morning practice on Thursday!

Everyone knows that BMX Racing requires a little gear, Helmet,
Bike... Okay, Racing Requires alot of gear!
But getting that gear to and from the track can be a little difficult!

That’s right, ya gotta have a way to get all that gear to and from the track.
I know that there are many ways to skin a cat but the ultimate solution is
the You Scared Industries Duffle. You can carry all your swag and still be
styling.

We are not talking just a little bit of stuff…
We are talking….. zoggin lots of stuff!

That’s right, from da left, extra shoes, socks, sweats and after race duds.
Then body armor, flip flops, shades, gloves, helmet and pads, not to
forget two sets of racing pants and jersey, plus water bottles, first aid kit
mom’s camera and extra batteries.

All this packs into the ultra Stylish, and (insert from Mom, DURABLE)
Swag Bag that all your gear fits in!

Just a reminder….
From this!

To this!

Whatsumatta...You Scared!

spotlight, Check out Brave Soldier, cause Crash Happens!

Our new shelter arrived in the mail from Aluminum Rapid Shelters!

Shipping was UPS Signature Required, We recieved a call from ARS the day before it arrived to insure that we would be home.  These guys are really great about making sure that we get our shelter!

Today is the day to set it up for the first time! Caity is our Shelter Carrier!

Unpacking is very straightforward, and we even found directions!

Hey, where is the tent part?

The canvas is not originally attached to the frame but that is easily rectified.

The next step is really simple, just grab legs and walk away! Please notice all of the bracing under that tarp, this is no department store flimsy shade tarp!

As well as shipping with stakes for the legs we found loops on each corner for additional tie-downs.  We have seen lots of shelters warp, bend and flat out blow away in the Ozarks winds, but we feel safe with the Aluminum Rapid Shelter by Caddis Sports!

Ahhh, Shade at last, Setup time for the first attempt about 6 minutes.  I bet we can do it in three now!

This is an outstanding product that every traveling team should not be without.

We Love ARS from Caddis Sports!

Don’t know if you noticed but there were a few races in August I missed…that’s when Mom took me to Huntsville, Alabama for Parent/Child Space Camp. It was really cool!!! We learned a lot and the simulators were awesome. My favorite was the Astronaut Trainer. It has three rings (my chair was attached to the center one) and they all spin different directions. It was fun and I got very dizzy. I built my own rocket then got to shoot it off. We did two simulated missions…Mom and I got to wear the Astronaut suits and make repairs to the space ship. We lived in a habitat with bunks and lockers. It was okay but next time I will take my own pillow and sleeping bag. The food was good, especially the macaroni & cheese, but the portions were small (money for snack machines is a must). Adam was our team Redstone captain. He was way cool!!! And he knows SO much. Our team members were 6 other parent/child members. They were all very nice. After camp we decided to stay another night at the Marriott hotel. At the pool we were happy to see several of our new friends had the same idea. The pool and hot tub were really neat…half of the pool was inside, half was outside. You swim under a glass wall to get from one to the other. It was fun!!! Our room was on the 7th floor facing the Space & Rocket Center. Mom said it was well worth the extra money spent because the view was spectacular (I think that means really good), it was clean and the beds were very comfortable. I hope I get to go again sometime. If you ever get the chance to go, Mom and I both highly recommend it. It was AWESOME!

Jacob did feel well enough to race Tuesday night, but was really sore by the main event.  He took it easy and hung back then nailed it in the final stretch to take 3rd.  Great Job Jake!!!

Sunday, July 20

Just an update...Jacob wrecked his bike Friday while practicing around the neighborhood.  He scraped his knees, elbows, and right hip.  He also injured his left arm, the same arm he broke a year and a half ago.  We were worried that his arm might be broken again, but Thank God it wasn't.  The doctor said it has internal bruising and is sprained.

Jake's first question was "Will I still be able to race next week?"  The doctor said he has to take it easy until at least Thursday.  He can race when the pain and swelling is gone.

Even though Jake can't race, we will still be at the track Tuesday cheering our friends on to victory.

See you at the track!!!
