Latest News - 11/12/2009WYMAN RECOVERING FROM INJURY
Macedon, NY (November 12, 2009) - Well it's not a photograph that any athlete wants a doctor to present to them, but after 4 surgeries and 17 days in the hospital Kyle is finally home after his accident at Daytona International Speedway on October 16th leading up to the AMA Pro Supersport Shootout. Kyle was in a practice session on Friday the 16th when he lost the brakes, colliding with another rider and ultimately hitting the turn 6 wall which was protected by air fence. He was transported to Daytona Beach Halifax hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to correct his developed compartment syndrome due to swelling. Kyle was then transferred to Florida Hospital Orlando to be 'pieced back together' by surgeon Dr. Cole. There were multiple displaced fractures in the tibia, a complete but undisplaced fracture in the fibula, and multiple displaced fractures in the tibial plateau.
A rod and 8 screws later, Kyle is now back home and working with a physical therapist to get mobility back in the knee and ankle. He is currently on crutches but will be able to start cycling on the trainer within a few weeks, and possibly walking by the end of December. Keep the positive thoughts rolling and hope for a full recovery as the 2010 season is right around the corner! WBR would like to extend a big thanks to all the sponsors who have helped throughout the season! WYMAN WITH IMPRESSIVE RESULTS IN DAYTONA SPORTBIKE DEBUT Macedon, NY (September 8, 2009) - Kyle Wyman competed in his first AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike race at New Jersey Motorsports Park this past weekend. The new-comer finished a strong 16th on Saturday and backed up his performance on Sunday with a 14th place finish in race two in the ultra competitive class.
“I learned so much this weekend,” said the 19 year old, “The (Daytona) Sportbike class is so tough, and it really forced me to step up my game at New Jersey. I was able to have some clean starts despite all the wreckage in turn one of both races and everything worked out in my favor. I’m just really glad I got the opportunity to show what I can do in the class, and am more than pleased with my results.”
The former dirt tracker has been riding a sportbike for only 18 months.
“As long as I keep improving, I can’t ask for anything more for the stage that I’m at right now. My family and sponsors have been behind me 100% the whole year and it feels good to finish off the season on a high note with my best weekend to date.”
Special Thanks to Don Finelli, Chuck Giachetto and Will O’Connor from Niagara Powersports.
WBR would like to extend gratitude to it’s sponsors: Harv’s Harley-Davidson, Long Pond Autobody, NPS Racing, Arai, Kneedraggers.com, Chromeglow, Chickenhawk Racing, OnTheThrottle.tv, Superseal, Alpinestars, ODI, Dynojet, Vortex, Manchester Mart, Zero Gravity, and Honey Stinger
WYMAN TO COMPETE IN DSB CLASS AT NJMP
Macedon, NY (September 2nd, 2009) - Kyle Wyman will compete in the AMA Pro Daytona Sportbike class this weekend at the AMA Pro Road Racing season finale at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Kyle will race the Harv’s Harley-Davidson sponsored #133 Yamaha YZF-R6. Kyle will not compete in AMA Pro Supersport at NJMP.
The national champion flat track racer made the switch to road racing in 2008, and has been acquainting himself with the new discipline over the past 18 months. He will take the next step in the learning curve by making the move to Daytona Sportbike.
“Daytona Sportbike racing is ultimately where I wanted to end up this year. My goal was to keep learning and establish a good base for my riding,” said Wyman, “then my next goal is to maximize the value of each lap on the track, and I think moving to Daytona Sportbike will give me the opportunity to latch on to people and keep making progress.”
Look for Kyle back on the Supersport grid for the AMA Pro Supersport Shootout at Daytona International Speedway in October.
RESULTS FROM VIRGINIA INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY
Macedon, NY (August 25, 2009) - Kyle had a very successful WERA weekend at the Cycle Jam nationals at Virginia International Raceway. Teaming up with Jason DiSalvo for the WERA National Endurance series posed a challenge for two riders who had never competed in an endurance before. The goal was to finish the race, keep the bike on two wheels, and gain a wealth of experience with plenty of track time on the 2.25 mile circuit. They would compete on a Team Hammer M4 EMGO Suzuki GSX-R 600.
By the end of the 4 hour race, ‘Team America’ (DiSalvo/Wyman) found themselves at the top of the order, taking home the win in the Middleweight Superstock class with a 4 lap advantage over the second place finishers.
“I really have to give all of my thanks to John and Chris Ulrich for allowing us to ride their bike in the endurance race. It was such a great experience and really ramped me up for the following AMA weekend. My Dad and the Wikle family helped out a ton as well, so tons of credit to them too.”
The WERA Cycle Jam weekend was followed by the AMA Suzuki Big Kahuna Nationals:
Kyle’s AMA weekend went almost perfectly to plan. The goal for WBR was a top 5 for Kyle; his long string of bad luck has hindered his ability to finish well in prior races, and VIR set the stage for a great event. After qualifying 6th for the race, Kyle was in 5th position on lap two when the transmission kicked into a false neutral during downshifts into turn one, which put him into the grass and back to last position before re-entering the race surface. Kyle picked his way back through the pack to finish a very respectable 8th position after 18 long laps. “It happens,” said Wyman, “I just need to keep my head down and keep pushing forward. Hopefully by the last round of the season we’ll have all of our bad luck spoken for, which is good because we have some news to announce soon about New Jersey!”
