Q&A - Personal

What has been your most embarrassing moment?

In my short quad history, Me and my teammate Vince were out riding in a local spot that has a nice crown hill in the center of a ton of sugar sand that you can climb, jump etc. I was new to riding and decided I wanted to tackle the steepest climb there. At the summit of this climb there was a step up to a even more steep climb that was only about 6 feet tall. Overall I am staring up about 30 foot of a near vertical incline and all I can think is.. "I GOT THIS" So, I pick up about 35 mph worth of speed and the inertia of me + bike got up the first incline. A feeling of accomplishment comes over my body just before I hit the 2nd, which is basically vertical but I felt nothing could stop me. I hit it, got almost completely up it, front end lifts but doesnt matter I am nearly at the top. Inexperience says "your almost there give it some more gas!" So, I did. Long story short I fell about 9 feet straight on my back while my quad is standing up straight. As I am falling looking at this quad standing up straight the only thought going through my head is "Ah crap, this thing is coming back on me!" So I hit the ground doing a reverse flip over my head down this hill trying to get out of the way of my 530lb quad. I had everyone there cracking up laughing at me while I do this. I stand up at the bottom of the hill to see my quad at the peak standing up on its rear grab bar, still running. What a experience.

Why do you like this sport?

What is there not to like, the action and suspense of racing is bar none. The people involved in FTR are top notch.

What inspires you to compete?

I played football for 11 years of my life. Going on to go All state twice and all American once. Competition is in my blood. My football career got cut short due to a really bad knee injury which left me inactive for years. I went from being a very in shape individual to a incredibly fat out of shape individual. I had no real drive to try to lose the weight and became busy. When my best friend and team mate Vince took me out to a race I was hooked on the excitement and the competitive bug bit me again. Thanks to this sport I am finally regaining the independence and competitive nature I once flaunted. This sport really has changed my life.

Describe your style...

I am more of a heads up person. The time I spent playing football as a line backer really gave me the nature of hit them where they see you coming. And that plays alot into my style of riding. I am big, green and obnoxiously loud. When you see me coming and unless you want to get ran over, move!

What do you want to be when you grow up?

But I dont want to grow up?!
