Monster Energy’s Villopoto & Townley Both On Podium @ Monster/Kawasaki High Point MX National

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ben Townley goes from last to 10th in first moto, then wins second moto in dominant fashion; teammate Ryan Villopoto (2-2) extends overall series points lead

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 29, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ben Townley put on quite a show in both motos of the Monster Energy/Kawasaki High Point National (Mt. Morris, Pa.) on Sunday – easily one of the more spectacular 3rd place overall finishes in recent years of Lites racing.

In the opening Lites class moto, Townley was involved in a crash at the start and had some spokes violently torn from his front rim. Having to pull in for a rare pit stop, the Pro Circuit mechanics worked a quick miracle and got Townley back in the race – all be it in dead last place. The Kiwi, a former MX2 class GP champion, would put his head down and pick off rider after rider until he’d finally caught back up to the top ten.

“It’s a long summer of racing and scoring points in every moto will be crucial in the end,” said Townley of his comeback charge. “I knew that Pro Circuit had put together a great bike for me and I took advantage of that and was able to salvage some important points despite the crash and broken spokes.”

In the second moto Townley stayed upright on the start, came out of the first lap in 2nd place and quickly took the lead from eventual race winner Josh Grant on lap two, checking out in fine fashion over Grant and Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammate Ryan Villopoto to win the second moto and score an impressive 3rd place overall finish.

For his part Villopoto was the model of consistency in at High Point, going 2-2 for 2nd overall. With the effort he extended his points lead in the series (after two rounds) to eight points over Townley, 91-83.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is the June 10th Southwick National (Southwick, Mass.) at Motocross 338, Round Three of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s Rick Carmichael Wins His 2nd Outdoor National In A Row, Going 1-1 @ High Point

Monster Energy/Kawasaki MX National at High Point has always been good to RC – wins for the eighth time of his career at southern Pa. track

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 29, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Ricky Carmichael (Makita/Suzuki) is sure creating a stir on the AMA Toyota Motocross Series tour. The all-time winningest MX racer on the planet – who says he’s only going to race five Nationals this summer during his retirement tour – has won the first two, covering fellow Monster Energy-backed rival and ’07 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series champion James Stewart (Monster Energy/Kawasaki) with a convincing 1-1 performance at High Point (Mt. Morris, Pa.) on Sunday.

“I’ve always enjoyed racing here at High Point, the fans here have always been very good to me,” said Carmichael.

In the first moto Carmichael got out in 4th place, settled in, then made a charge towards the lead worthy of a championship battle. The fast Floridian made quick work of factory Honda racers Davy Millsaps and Andrew Short, then set his sights on race leader Stewart. Coming from behind, Carmichael put two seconds on Stewart’s fastest lap time (1:58.488 to 2:00.436) and caught the reigning supercross champ on lap 13 (of 17) and then held him off easily for the overall win.

In the second moto Carmichael just flat out dominated from the beginning, leading wire-to-wire to take the checkers and the overall win. With the effort Carmichael extended his overall Outdoor National points lead to ten points over Stewart, 97-87.

Next up for the Monster Energy’s Carmichael is the June 10th Southwick National (Southwick, Mass.) at Motocross 338, Round Three of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy-Backed Jason Lawrence Scores First Moto Podium Of The

Year @ High Point Raceway

Lawrence goes 3-6 for 5th overall in AMA Lites class at Monster

Energy/Kawasaki High Point National; remains in 5th o/a in standings

CORONA, Calif., (May 29, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Jason Lawrence

(Yamaha of Troy) put up his first Outdoor National podium finish of

the year on Sunday at High Point Raceway (Mt. Morris, Pa.), racing to

a 3rd place finish at the Monster Energy/Kawasaki MX National at High

Point, round two of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Poised to make the podium, Lawrence got off to a poor start in the

second moto (17th after the first lap) and had to claw his way

through a whole host of top riders just to get back into the top ten

(6th overall) in the second moto, good enough for 5th overall on the

day.

“My start in the second moto pretty much sucked and was the reason I

didn’t make the overall podium,” said Lawrence. “My Yamaha YZ250F was

flying all weekend. I passed guys in that second moto like they were

on BMX bikes, ha,ha... My fault screwing up the start. But being on

the podium in the first moto was sick! – I can get used to that. So

it’s ON for Southwick.”

Lawrence, a New Jersey native, returns to the eastern rounds – namely

Southwick and Budds Creek – the next several weeks. He’s currently in

5th overall in the Lites class points standings with 67 points, which

is far better than the 16 points he had last year heading into

Southwick.

Next up for the Monster Energy’s Lawrence is the June 10th Southwick

National (Southwick, Mass.) at Motocross 338, Round Three of the 2007

AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy MX Crossover Series Opener Results

Skier K.C. Deane wins it with snowboarders Ian Price and Chris Roach

rounding out the podium at Monster's inaugural event @ Hangtown

CORONA, Calif., (May 22, 2007) -  Monster Energy's 2007 MX Crossover Series'

opener was the biggest ever, featuring a 43-man gate of action sports

athletes and industry media members this past weekend to help kick off the

racing festivities for the Outdoor Nationals opener at Prairie City SVRA,

aka "Hangtown."

And when the dust cleared, the Monster flowed and the bench racing shifted

into high gear it was the mountain athletes (skiers &

snowboarders) that took it to the BMXers and skaters in what's become a

traditional action sports/motocross celebration the weekend of the Hangtown

National, also sponsored by Sessions, Spy, Dunlop and Throttle

Jockey/Graphics Lab.

Leading the charge of action sports athletes on the demanding Hangtown track

was freeskier K.C. Deane (Truckee, Calif.). Deane used a 1-2 moto

performance to hold off last year's winner, snowboarder Ian Price (3-1), for

the overall victory.

"This year the field was the most talented we've ever had and he

(Deane) definitely earned it," said Price. Added Deane: "That was definitely

a blast, and I'm looking forward to the next round at Glen Helen (Sept. 7)."

Rounding out the podium was snowboarder Chris Roach. The overall results

from the first round of the Monster Energy MX Crossover Series were:

In the Java Monster Media Throw Down it was Dirt Rider's Jimmy Lewis taking

top honors. Lewis was joined on the podium by fellow Primedia editorial

staff members Chris Denison and Dave Donatoni.

And in the highly anticipated Monster Energy "Creature Feature" MX showdown,

which featured a friendly grudge battle between Guinness Book of World

Records distance jumping record holders Ryan "The One"

Capes (310 feet/motorcycle) and Paul Thacker (245 feet/snowmobile), it was

Capes getting the upper hand.

"I told you so," said Capes laughing.

"Yeah, we'll see what happens when we run it back on sleds this winter,"

added Thacker, no doubt foreshadowing an impending on- mountain battle at

some exotic location in the snow between the two Monster Energy superstars.

The fan-friendly event culminated on Sunday with a massive autograph signing

session featuring all the competitors at the Monster Energy compound located

on the manufacturer's midway. Making special guest appearances to sign some

autographs and take in Sunday's racing were U.S. Ski Team member Daron

Rahlves and pro skateboard legend Steve Caballero.

Again, a special shout out to Sessions, Spy, Dunlop and Throttle

Jockey/Graphics Lab for sponsoring the event.

Monster Energy’s Ben Townley & Ryan Villopoto Open The MX Outdoor

Season With 1-2 Finish @ Hangtown!

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki racers dominant at NorCal track

– opening round of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 21, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/

Kawasaki’s Ben Townley and Ryan Villopoto, hot off their Amp’d Mobile

AMA Supercross Series regional Lites class championships, continued

their reign on the AMA Lites class division with a 1-2 finish –

respectively – at the opening round of the 2007 AMA Motocross

Championships at Prairie City (Calif.) SVRA Park, aka “Hangtown,” on

Sunday.

The former Euro GP champ Townley was nothing short of stellar with

his second moto performance. The New Zealander had to deal with the

fact that he was chased down and passed by teammate Villopoto in the

first moto after Villopoto crashed out of the lead. Townley’s

dominant performance in the second moto for sure raised eyebrows

within the industry, and no doubt has everybody excited for this

weekend’s event in Mt. Morris, Pa.

“This weekend our team’s the title sponsor of the race at High Point,

so it’s going to make it that much more special if you can win it,”

said Townley. “I didn’t get to race there last year and I’ve heard a

lot of nice things about the track, so it should be a real good race.”

Moto results from Hangtown were: Townley 2-1, Villopoto 1-2.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is the

running of this weekend’s Monster Energy/Kawasaki High Point National

in Mt. Morris, Pa., Round Two of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross

Championship.

Monster Energy-Backed Jason Lawrence “Impressive” With 5-5

Performance At AMA MX Nationals Opener

Penalized (again) by the AMA for rowdy behavior, Lawrence wins fans

over by turning two dead-last gate picks into 5th place finishes in

the 40-man field

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 21, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Jason

Lawrence (Yamaha of Troy) overcame some incredible odds to score back-

to-back 5th place Lites class finishes (6th overall) in the opening

round of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championships at Prairie City

(Calif.) SVRA, aka “Hangtown,” on Sunday.

A Friday practice session dust up with rival Ryan Villopoto,

coincidently also a Monster-backed athlete, led to severe penalties

from the AMA, part of which relegated Lawrence to the dead last gate

pick in both motos at Hangtown – a virtual death blow to a racer’s

confidence.

“I apologized for what happened and when the AMA sees the footage of

what led up to the fight I’m confident my name will be cleared,” said

Lawrence. “Bottom line: All it did was fire me up even more. I can’t

wait for High Point this weekend.”

Lawrence won over more than a few fans at the packed Hangtown venue.

Starting as far on the outside as possible, he was led up out of the

first turn and up the big hill in both motos by most of the world’s

fastest motocross racers. The New Jersey kid then put on a riding

clinic, working through the pack in the hot and dusty conditions all

the way up to 5th place – 5/5 for 6th overall.

Next up for Lawrence is the running of this weekend’s Monster Energy/

Kawasaki High Point National in Mt. Morris, Pa., Round Two of the

2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s Ricky Carmichael Wins An Exciting One To Open The

AMA Outdoor Nationals!

Carmichael puts the Monster M-claw logo up on top of the box at

Hangtown – opening round of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 21, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Ricky

Carmichael (Makita/Suzuki) proved to everyone he’s still the best

motocross racer on the planet, winning the opening round of the 2007

AMA Toyota Motocross Championship in spectacular fashion with a come-

from-behind 2-1 moto victory over rival James Stewart (Monster Energy/

Kawasaki) at Prairie City SVRA Park, aka “Hangtown.”

Prior to Sunday’s race there was much speculation if Carmichael, who

took more than half the supercross season off to focus on his new

family (twins) and budding auto racing career, was ready to hang with

Stewart – who was carrying a TON of momentum into the Hangtown

opener. The two put together an exciting first moto, highlighted by a

Carmichael crash that handed the lead over to Stewart – and

subsequent Carmichael chase of Stewart that had the 25,000-plus in

attendance going bananas.

“That was fun. I hope the fans had as good of a time watching as we

did racing,” said Carmichael. “We’ll pretty much be able to count on

that kind of racing for the first five rounds.”

With his back to the wall in the second moto Carmichael came out

swinging, building a lead on Stewart that might have forced a couple

mistakes from Carmichael’s fellow Floridian as Stewart hit the ground

on two occasions. Carmichael would end up winning the second moto by

sizable time, which gave him the overall victory.

The win for Carmichael was the 91st of his career on the Outdoor

National circuit and his seventh at the fabled Hangtown track.

Next up for Carmichael is the running of this weekend’s Monster

Energy/Kawasaki High Point National in Mt. Morris, Pa., Round Two of

the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy Racers Score Three Podium Finishes At Infineon Raceway

AMA Superbike Doubleheader!

Monster-backed Aaron Gobert 2nd in Formula Xtreme race; Monster/

Kawasaki Jamie Hacking & Roger Lee Hayden 2-3 in Supersport

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 21, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed AMA

Superbike Series road racers were all over the podiums this past

weekend at Round Four of the 11-round series, showing up on the box

in both the Supersport and Formula Xtreme classes at Infineon Raceway

in Sonoma, Calif.

Beginning with Monster Energy’s Aaron Gobert (Erion Racing/Honda),

the Lockhart-Phillips USA Formula Xtreme Series charger was on the

box for the second straight time, scoring a 2nd place finish on his

Honda CBR600RR. Gobert then backed that performance with a 8th in the

Pro Honda Oils Supersport class.

“We ran well this weekend – but we can definitely do better,” said

Gobert. “Everything’s starting to click and I see no reason why I

can’t put the Erion Honda up on top of the podium here real soon.”

Also making the podium were Monster Energy/Kawasaki teammates Jamie

Hacking and Roger Lee Hayden on matching Kawasaki ZX6Rs. In the red

flag shortened race – which Hacking probably would have won as he had

the fastest lap time of all the racers (1:38.082 to 1:38.310 of red

flag winner Josh Hayes) – Monster-backed racers went 2nd (Hacking)

and 3rd (Hayden) overall. Hayden and Hacking also stepped it up in

the premier AMA Superbike Series double header, going 6th (Hayden)

and 8th (Hacking) in the first race, and Hacking scoring another top

ten (10th) in the second race.

Rounding out the scoring on the weekend for Monster Energy was

Oklahoma’s Danny Eslick. The AMA Superstock racer finished just off

the podium in 4th overall on Saturday on his Suzuki GSX-R1000.

Eslick’s currently 5th in the overall Superstock points, only 13

points off the podium.

Next up for the Monster Energy-backed AMA Superbike Series racers is

Round Five of the series at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisc. (Jun

2-3).

Monster Energy’s John Hopkins Places 7th @ French MotoGP Round

Hopkins puts up the day’s fastest lap time, but a couple issues keep

him from repeating his recent podium finish in China

CARLSBAD, Calif., (May 21, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed MotoGP racer

John Hopkins (Rizla-Suzuki) had everything going for him at the

French LeMans circuit, pulled off the fastest lap time of the race

and looked to be on his way to repeating his last race podium

performance this past weekend in France.

Leading by lap nine, Hopkins made the decision in the wet conditions

to pit and run his wet weather-prepared GVS-R on lap nine at the

legendary course, only to lose momentum – and the subsequent podium –

en route to a 7th place finish overall. The consistent performance

kept Hopkins (6th o/a) well within striking distance of the top five

and overall podium early on in the MotoGP season.

“Everything was going fine until it started raining harder,” said

Hopkins. “I think we made the right decision when to come in to

change the bike. I tried to get used to riding in the wet and it all

seemed to be going alright, but we had some minor adjustment problems

that hindered us a bit. At the end of the day I kept it on two wheels

and finished the race with some good points. We will take the

positives from this weekend and although I am disappointed to finish

where I did after all the hard work we put in in the dry, it’s now

time to move onto a lot of tracks that I enjoy and continue this

podium streak for Rizla-Suzuki!”

Noteworthy: Hopkins’ Rizla-Suzuki teammate Chris Vermeulen would go

on to win the race.

Next up for Monster Energy’s Hopkins will be the Italian Grand Prix

at Mugello (June 3).

Monster Energy FAR Pro Circuit/Kawasaki Off-Road  Places Three In Top Ten @ John Penton GNCC

Scott Watkins again top placer on team with 4th in XC2 class

CORONA, Calif., (May 14, 2007) –  The Monster Energy FAR (Fred Andrews Racing) Pro Circuit Kawasaki Off-Road Team wrapped up competition this past week in Millfield, Ohio, running the annual John Penton round of the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCCs).

Leading the charge for the Monster Energy FAR team was again Scott Watkins. Watkins, who finished 5th in the XC2 class at the last GNCC round (Loretta Lynn’s, Tenn.) improved his position this past week with a hard-fought 4th in the hot and dusty conditions in Ohio. Starting in 3rd place and poised to make the podium, Watkins went down on the second lap and barely got back up in the top ten (8th), with Monster Energy FAR teammate Cole Calkins hot on his tail.

“It was bad out there, hot and dusty, and that mistake on the second lap cost me the race,” said Watkins. “It was really hard to see with all that dust, which made passing even that much more difficult.”

Calkins was working his way up towards the top five himself when he suffered a nightmare of a crash, getting ripped off his bike by a tree branch he wasn’t able to see because of the dust.

“I got going behind Scott (Watkins) and we started to pass riders and the dust got really thick, making it very tough to see,” said Calkins. “All of a sudden something hit me in the helmet and made me crash. When I got up I saw a low-hanging tree branch and that was it for me.”

Calkins did manage to stay in the top ten overall, finishing 9th.

In the premier XC1 class, Monster Energy FAR was led by Jesse Robinson with a 9th place overall finish. Robinson got out well and had moved up to 6th place when a crash after the two-lap board came up relegated him back to 9th.

“After the crash I wasn’t able to see with all the dust,” said Robinson. “I didn’t want to take any chances, so we’ll re-group and work hard the next three weeks for when the GNCCs return to action in Kentucky.”. __Noteworthy: Monster Energy FAR’s PA Allen is out for the next 2 rounds with back problems._

Next up for the Monster Energy FAR Pro Circuit Kawasaki Off-Road is the Weekend Warrior Sparts, June 9-10, in Sparta, Ky.

Monster Energy-Backed Jason Lawrence (YoT) 2nd Fastest @ Vegas SX –

Battles From Last To 4th

Lawrence puts on the most exciting come-from-behind chase of the

weekend, gains a ton of new respect from competitors & MX industry

CORONA, Calif., (May 7, 2007) –  Monster Energy-backed Jason Lawrence

(Yamaha of Troy), the 2007 AMA Supercross Lites’ Western Region

runner-up, put on the best come-from-behind performance of the Las

Vegas Supercross weekend finals this past weekend, coming from nearly

dead last after the opening lap to 4th overall in the annual East/

West Dave Coombs Sr. Lites Shootout on Saturday.

“That was a blast, man,” said Lawrence after the race. “Sucked I

couldn’t make the podium, but I gave it everything I had trying.”

Lawrence, who finished just a couple seconds – or what would have

been an extra lap at his pace – off the podium, saved his best for

last, clocking a second best (behind race winner Ryan Dungey)

1:08.899 lap – 1/100th off the fastest Lites class time of the night.

“Yamaha of Troy had my YZ250F dialed and I was just clicking off fast

lap after fast lap with my best ones coming at the end,” said

Lawrence. “I wanted to make the podium so bad, and think I would have

had I not screwed up the start.”

Not only did Lawrence barely make the top five in the all-star

contest, he barely made the main – transferring from the final spot

of the LCQ.

“I needed the heat race just to shake off Vegas from the night

before,” he said laughing.

In the main Lawrence suffered a pre-first turn gap and basically let

the entire field of the world’s best 250F class supercross racers out

in front of him. Not to be out-done, the New Jersey native showed off

his gobs of natural talent and obvious podium-level physical stamina

to pass all but a few of the world’s top up-and-coming racers,

missing the podium by one click.

Most importantly for Lawrence the charge from last to the front of

the pack against the best field assembled all year instilled just the

confidence he needed as the supercross series now morphs into the

Outdoor Nationals, kicking off at Hangtown (Prairie City, Calif.) in

two weeks.

“I plan on shining outdoors,” added Lawrence. “That’s what I’ve been

looking forward to all supercross season long.”

Next up for Monster Energy’s Jason Lawrence is the opening round of

the Toyota AMA Motocross Championships, aka the “Outdoor Nationals,”

May 20th at Prairie City’s (Calif.) Hangtown MX track.

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Gosselaar & Lange Both Top Ten

@ Vegas SX Finals

Teammates Townley & Villopoto win heats, favored to podium in main,

but bike issues force them out of the Shootout title hunt

CORONA, Calif., (May 7, 2007) –  Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki

riders Chris Gosselaar and Darcy Lange both scored top ten positions

in the all-star AMA Lites class line up at the Las Vegas Supercross

final this past weekend.

Gosselaar, 7th, just missed the podium in his West heat race (4th) –

which was won by teammate Ryan Villopoto. Lange, 9th, would also make

the main via his heat race, finishing 6th in the East heat (which was

won by teammate Ben Townley).

In the main Gosselaar pulled a great start and got out of the first

lap in 4th. Teammate Lange wouldn’t be as fortunate, getting tied up

early and surfacing at the end of the first lap way back in 17th. The

Canadian would mount a brilliant charge towards the front, staying on

the lead lap and cracking the top ten by lap ten.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is the May

20th opening round of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship, aka

the “Outdoor Nationals,” at Prairie City’s (Calif.) Hangtown MX track.

Monster Energy-Backed Jason Lawrence (YoT) 2nd @ Seattle Supercross – Pumped For Vegas Shootout

Lawrence finishes nearly 30 points ahead of factory Yamaha’s Josh Hill for 2nd place overall in the AMA Western Lites class standings

CORONA, Calif., (April 30, 2007) –  Monster Energy-backed Jason Lawrence (Yamaha of Troy), having already wrapped up 2nd place overall in the AMA Supercross Lites class Western Region series standings in February at San Diego, nonetheless took it to the competition yet again with an admirable 2nd place overall finish at Seattle’s Qwest Field on Saturday.

Having already scored five podium finishes in seven races, including three in a row heading into Seattle, Lawrence used the pacific northwest race as a tune up for the upcoming Dave Coombs Sr. Las Vegas Lites Shootout (May 5th).

“Last year my first Supercross podium ever was at Seattle,” said Lawrence. “So I was fired up to come back up here and put my Yamaha up on the podium again – which I did. Now the plan is to make it back up on the podium one more time before we start Nationals - and hopefully with that top spot this weekend in Vegas.”

Lawrence opened up the weekend’s racing with a solid 2nd place finish in the second heat race to make the main. In the main he got an OK start (5th after the first lap), and was determined to get past a number of factory-backed racers, including Yamaha’s Josh Hill, Kawasaki-backed Chris Gosselaar and Honda-backed Josh Grant. The final pass for 2nd place would come versus Hill on lap ten of the 15- lap contest.

Next up for Monster Energy’s Jason Lawrence is the Dave Coombs Sr.

Las Vegas Lites Shootout, May 5th at Sam Boyd Stadium.

Monster Energy FAR Pro Circuit/Kawaski Off-Road Team Puts A Couple In Top Ten @ Loretta Lynn's GNCC Stop

Scott Watkins 5th in XC2 class, Jesse Robinson 6th in XC1 class

CORONA, Calif., (April 30, 2007) –  The Monster Energy FAR (Fred Andrews Racing) Pro Circuit Kawasaki Off-Road Team wrapped up competition this past weekend at famed country music star Loretta Lynn’s ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tenn., Round Five of the 2007 Can-Am Grand National Cross Country series, aka the “GNCCs.”

Leading the charge for the Monster Energy/FAR program in the hot and dusty conditions in middle Tennessee was again Scott Watkins in the

XC2 class. Watkins, last week’s winner at the Pirelli GNCC Big Buck (Union, S.C.). Though Watkins got out of the gate poorly (last place), his ‘never say die’ attitude got him back through the pack on the fast track layout for a top five (5th) place finish overall. And this despite a pretty gnarly first lap crash.

“I had to regroup and do the best I could,” said Watkins. “It’s a long year and I need to stay healthy.”

Watkins’ Monster Energy/FAR teammate, Cole Calkins, got out to a far better XC2 class start (3rd) and was running with the race leaders when he collided with a tree at the ten mile mark and broke his brake hose. The accident forced Calkins into the pits and, once he got back going and up to speed, he nailed a big rock and bent his front rotor to the point he couldn’t complete the race.

“I need to get some luck on my side one of these days,” said Calkins.

Rounding out the XC2 racers was PA Allen, who crashed on the first lap, re-injured his back as was unable to finish the race.

In the premier XC1 class Monster Energy/FAR’s Jesse Robinson got out with the leaders (4th) and raced up front all day, eventually finishing 6th overall.

“I had a great start and that is what I needed to do on a dusty day like today,” said Robinson. “I am looking forward to the next race.”

Next up for the Monster Energy FAR Pro Circuit Kawasaki Off-Road is the Wiseco John Penton in Millfield, Ohio (May 12-13).

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto Wins Final SX Lites West Race In Seattle

Having already wrapped up the crown in San Diego in February, Villopoto wins one for the hometown fans in the pacific northwest

CORONA, Calif., (April 30, 2007) –  Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/ Kawasaki Ryan Villopoto (Poulsbo, Wash.) put an exclamation point on the 2007 AMA Supercross Lites Western Region title he clinched back in February (17th) in San Diego, this past weekend taking another victory – his sixth in a row and seven out of eight this year – in front of the hometown pacific northwest fans at Seattle’s Qwest Field.

Villopoto had little trouble with the competition on Saturday, winning the second heat race decisively and turning a rather poor start in the Lites class main event into the race lead by lap seven and scoring the eventual overall victory.

“I’m definitely pumped to win this in front of the people here in Washington,” said Villopoto. “Now it’s on to Vegas for the East/West finals.”

Villopoto passed a couple factory-backed racers, Josh Grant (Honda) and Josh Hill (Yamaha) to take the lead. He was also able to get past his Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki teammate Chris Gosselaar – the early race leader. Note: Gosselaar would go onto finish 5th in the race and 5th overall in the Western Lites division.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is Round 16 of the 2007 Amp’d Mobile/AMA Supercross Series at Las Vegas’ Sam Boyd Stadium. The May 5th event will feature the Dave Coombs Sr. Lites Shootout, featuring the top racers from the East and West regions – including Monster Energy-backed champions Ben Townley (East) and Villopoto (West).

In the Lockhart-Phillips Formula Xtreme Series, presented by HMR, Monster Energy's Aaron Gobert, aboard an Erion Racing-tuned Honda CBR600RR, clawed his way to a 2nd place finish overall and moved up to 4th in the season points standings - just seven points behind the overall podium with an entire summer of racing ahead of him.

"I always enjoy racing in California," said Gobert, who hails from Australia. "Good crowd on hand and great racing all weekend. Even when I wasn't on the track I was able to enjoy the event as a spectator."

Rounding out the Monster Energy-backed racers at the AMA Superbike Championship at Fontana was Danny Eslick. Running a Suzuki GSX-R1000 in the AMA Superstock Series, Eslick pulled off a solid 6th place finish and moved up to 5th in the overall standings, just 11 points off the overall podium. Eslick also added a strong 8th place finish in the Supersport class, giving Monster Energy three guys in the top eight!

Next up for the Monster Energy-backed road racers on the AMA Superbike Championship circuit is the May 18-20 running of the Kawasaki Superbike Showdown at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif. For more information on the series hit up: www.amasuperbike.com.
