Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s 3rd Annual Triple Crown Of Motocross Rolls Into RedBud This Weekend!

Round Two of popular series highlighting the High Point, RedBud & Steel City races features six-figure bonus money for pros & privateers

CORONA, Calif., (June 28, 2007) – Monster Energy and Kawasaki’s popular “Triple Crown of Motocross” is about to launch its second event of the summer motocross season this weekend with Sunday’s (July 1st) running of the Monster Energy Kawasaki RedBud National Motocross, presented by Concept Haulers – round five of the 2007 Toyota AMA Motocross Championship.

At the Monster/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross’ first installment – High Point – Monster Energy-backed Ricky Carmichael and Factory Connection/Honda’s Josh Grant came out victorious and are each eligible for $25,000 in bonus money if they should win RedBud this weekend, then reign victorious again at Steel City, Pa. (Aug. 26th).

“Ricky’s for sure the odds-on favorite to win RedBud in what’s supposed to be his last race of the season,” said Monster spokesman Scott Sepkovic. “Josh Grant’s going to have his work cut out for him with the Monster/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki guys – Ryan Villopoto and Ben Townley – gunning for the title, along with Jason Lawrence (Yamaha of Troy) and Ryan Dungey. It’s anybody’s guess as to who’s going to win the Lites class this weekend.”

Up from a then record $72,000 total purse payout in 2006 – with Monster Energy’s own Ricky Carmichael winning the King’s share of that ($30,000) for sweeping High Point, RedBud and Steel City, as he did in 2005 as well - the generous $100,000 Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross purse is, by far, motocross’ richest three race promotion series in the history of the sport.

“I’m definitely looking forward to racing RedBud one last time,” said Carmichael of this weekend’s event. “Last year we got to do a parade lap in the Monster/Pflueger Racing Trophy Truck, which was pretty cool. This year I’m sure I’ll be out there again for a lap to say goodbye to all the Michigan motocross fans. RedBud’s definitely been a great place to race over the years.”

Given the fact that Carmichael’s swept the first two Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross series events (2005 & ’06), officials at Monster – with fairness to all the riders in mind – have instituted the “Monster/Kawi Carmichael Rule.” With that the bonus money for the sweep for factory riders has been elevated to a whopping $50,000, then split in half with the AMA Motocross class eligible for $25,000 and the AMA Motocross Lites class eligible for $25,000. Monster Energy and Kawasaki have also upped the ante to $6,000 ($3,00 per class) per event for the winners. Note: In the event there’s no sweep, the top points winner will be awarded $10,000 for the Motocross class and $5,000 for the Motocross Lites class – based off the AMA points for the three rounds.

And, speaking of the Monster Energy/Pflueger Racing Trophy Truck, RedBud will again play host to Baja’s most popular racing truck this weekend as driver Alan Pflueger’s truck is being shipped out to help Monster commemorate Carmichael’s last AMA motocross race of the summer – and quite possibly his career.

“Get the bulldozers ready, RedBud, because we’re looking forward to showing off what our Baja-built Monster Trophy Truck can do to a motocross track,” said Monster Energy’s Terri Sacks. “The fans got a big kick out of the truck last year, although it did tear up the track a bit (laughter). All I know is that the fans and RC were into it! So make sure you stop by the Monster Energy Pflueger Racing Rig and check out the bad ass 800-horsepower Trophy Truck, pick up some posters and grab an ice cold Monster Energy Drink!”

Privateers running RedBud also stand to benefit in that Monster Energy has also increased its Triple Crown of Motocross purse potential for privateers to a sizeable $12,000 for a three-race sweep and $5,000 total bonus money per race for both classes. This gives privateers the opportunity to shoot for the largest three race potential bonus purse in sport’s history, along with the bragging rights of being “Top Privateer” in the Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross. Note: David Vuillemin and Bobby Kiniry were the top privateer finishers at High Point, earning them each $2,000 in Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown bonus money and making them eligible for the $5,000 each paid out at Steel City should they be able to sweep.

In addition, to pump up the crowd even more, Monster Energy and Kawasaki will be giving away three Pro Circuit-tuned Kawasaki KLX110 pit bike to three lucky fans – totaling $10,000. Fans can enter to win at the Monster Energy motor coach on Saturday and Sunday. With all that Monster & Kawasaki can’t print money fast enough to help promote and support the AMA MX Nationals!

“The Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown an unprecedented promotion in the history of motocross,” said Scott Sepkovic, spokesman for Monster Energy and developer of the Triple Crown of Motocross. “This year we’ve eclipsed the six-figure mark, elevating the term Triple Crown in motocross to the level it enjoys in surfing, snowboarding, skiing and cycling.”

The schedule for the 2007 Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross:

. May 27th – High Point Raceway, Mt. Morris, Pa.

 . July 1st  – RedBud, Buchanan, Mich.

. Aug. 26th – Steel City Raceway, Delmont, Pa.

Along with the potential $25,000 bonus for sweeping either class, top privateers at the three race Triple Crown received a hefty payday ($3,000 per event, per class). Last year’s winners include:

High Point: David Vuillemin (MX class), Danny Smith (MX Lites class)

RedBud: Tim Ferry (MX class), Paul Carpenter (MX Lites class)

Steel City: Nick Wey (MX class), Kelly Smith (MX Lites class)

“Again, Monster Energy trusts that the industry realizes the importance of this promotion and the legitimacy it continues to bring to the sport of motocross,” added Sepkovic. “Kawasaki and Pro Circuit should be commended as well regarding their involvement, showing as a team how we can all band together to help in raising the awareness of the sport through a promotion such as the Monster Energy/Kawasaki Triple Crown of Motocross.”

Monster Energy Athletes CLEAN UP @ Opening Round Of 2007 Dew Tour!

Monster Energy's Nate Adams (FMX) &, Jamie Bestwick (BMX Vert) win gold, three Monster Energy Vert skaters place in top eight, Greg Lutzka 2nd in Skate Park and Mike Spinner 2nd in BMX Park

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) – Led by Monster Energy’s newly-signed Nate Adams and his fellow FMX riders, along with BMX Vert’s Jamie Bestwick, Monster was all over the podium and television sets nationwide following the conclusion of this weekend’s Panasonic Open, Round One of the 2007 Dew Tour.

Note: Before we wrap up Monster Energy’s weekend, everybody at Monster Energy would like to wish BMX Dirt jumper Stephen Murray the best in his recovery from a crash in Sunday’s BMX Dirt finals. Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

Beginning with the FMX finals, Monster Energy’s Nate Adams came from behind (4th in the prelims) to win the finals – which will be broadcast on www.motocross.com this Thursday. Adams had to overcome a feverous charge from Aussie Blake “Bilko” Williams, who had the crowd going bananas with his first run of the finals – which included a HUGE 360 flip. The veteran Adams would prevail when Williams sketched hard on his second run and had to be helped off the course (X-rays are inconclusive).  Monster Energy’s Adam Jones came back after a slow start finishing 4th overall .

Next up, the BMX Vert final where Jamie Bestwick – the two-time Dew Tour defending BMX Vert champ – reigned supreme again, topping Chad Kagy and Jimmy Walker with  bigger airs and more style in the finals, scoring an 89.17 for his 5th consecutive Dew Tour BMX Vert win! Barely able to catch his breath, Bestwick then joined NBC Dew Tour television team to add the color commentary for both the BMX Park and BMX Dirt finals. All-in-all a busy weekend for the high-flying Englishman!

In BMX Park the talk through out the weekend was Monster Energy-backed newcomer Mike Spinner. The teenage Dave Mirra protégé was nothing short of spectacular, spinning and smiling his way to a silver medal in the BMX Park finals – the first Dew Tour medal of his career. In the finals Spinner spun everything from a double whip on the step down to a 720 over the small box, 540 whip and a tail whip 720, along with a 900. All this before he almost stuck the landing on a 1080 right after time ran out.

“The kid’s the real deal,” said Monster Enegy’s Mirra, who helps sponsor Spinner. “He turns heads where ever he rides and will continue to do so all summer long.”

For his part Mirra was dominant early, placing 2nd in the prelims. But a couple crashes in the finals relegated him to 9th overall – a spot he’ll no doubt improve upon at the next Dew Tour stop.

Also making the finals in BMX Dirt was former champion Ryan Guettler. Monster’s Guettler would finish 12th on the evening.

Over on the newly-designed Skate Vert ramp, Monster landed three of its athletes in the top ten. Pierre Luc “PLG” Gagnon was tops with a 5th place finish, followed by Jake Brown with his best-ever Dew Tour finish of 7th, and Jean Postec placing 9th.

Finally, in the Skate Park comp, Monster’s Greg Lutzka put a nice exclamation point on the Monster skate weekend on the Dew Tour. Lutzka pulled the silver medal out of a wild contest which featured Lutzka’s fontside 270 blunt slide in round one of the jam session and his competition-ending frontside flip to flat off the Skate Park’s massive drop section. Note, Monster Energy backed Jereme Rogers finished 12th overall.

Next up for the Monster athletes on the Dew Tour is the July 19-23 Right Guard Open in Cleveland.

Monster Energy/Robby Gordon's Inaugural NASCAR Run In The Books

Following 16th @ Infineon Raceway

Monster's Gordon starts in first row and leads a major portion of the

race before pit stop timing puts his Ford Fusion back in the pack a bit

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) - Wrapping up what was a first for

Monster Energy, off road race legend Robby Gordon placed 16th overall in

his Monster-painted Ford Fusion stock car at this past weekend's NASCAR

Nextel Cup race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Gordon, who started the race on the outside of the first row after a

blistering second-fastest qualifying time, got out fast early - taking

the race lead on lap one and holding that position through 35 laps.

After pitting, Gordon re-joined the race in 26th place, but soon re-took

the lead and was able to hold that position through lap 75.

"We had that race and showed we were prepared," said Gordon. "The

results were showing it. We led the race for 63 of the 110 laps, but we

ended up losing due to a miscalculation on the other teams' fuel and pit

stops. We did not come here to finish 16th. We came here to win."

In addition to all the TV exposure Monster & Gordon received while

leading the race, Gordon and his Monster/Ford Cup car will also run the

DIRECTV "Hot Pass" camera on channel 798 - for those fans with DIRECTV.

This feature included real time stats, live audio, three camera views

and dedicated announcers the entire Monster/Gordon Sonoma effort.

Monster Energy’s John Hopkins Is 5th At British Nickle & Dime GP @ Donnington Park, U.K.

Hopkins post best career MotoGP finish in wet conditions @ British GP

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed MotoGP racer John Hopkins (Rizla-Suzuki) braved the heavy rains and came up with his best ‘wet conditions’ finish yet in a MotoGP contest, finishing a respectable 5th at the Nickle & Dime British GP at Donnington Park, U.K.

Hopkins, starting in the second row on the grid, got off to a great start and looked to all that he’d challenge early for the podium in his adopted home country. “I got a descent start to the race and had a couple of battles early on with other riders,” said Hopkins. “As the rain stopped falling it created a dry line which was difficult for me because although most riders take that line it’s not the one that I always take!”

Hopkins continued: “For the most part I’m pleased with the result; we finished in the top-five again and got some good points. We need to get a run of dry races now because I think with the Suzuki and Bridgestone package can be competitive wherever we go. I hope it will be dry at Assen next weekend as that is a place I really enjoy and I want to get a good result there so I can climb up that championship table.”

Next up for Monster’s Hopkins is Round Nine of the MotoGP Series this weekend in Assen, Netherlands (June 30).

Monster Energy/Robby Gordon’s NASCAR Run @ Sonoma Will Showcase The Monster Green & Black

Gordon’s Ford Fusion will be wrapped in the iconic Monster M-claw logo

CORONA, Calif., (June 20, 2007) – In a first for Monster Energy, off road race legend Robby Gordon will run a Monster-wrapped Ford Fusion stock car at this weekend’s NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Gordon, who’s one of the premier off road racers Monster Energy backs through out the Paris/Dakar, SCORE and CORR off road series events, has convinced officials at Monster to ‘jump into the deep end’ at this weekend’s Sonoma round of the NASCAR/Nextel Cup – with Monster Energy sponsoring Gordon’s ride from bumper to bumper, as well as plastering Gordon from his helmet to fireproof shoes with Monster’s iconic green and black glowing M-claw logo.

“I’ve been with Monster Energy for some time now and this couldn’t be a better weekend in the NASCAR season for them to test the waters as a full-on sponsor for the weekend,” said Gordon. “We’ve had a lot of success here at Sonoma in the past and I want Monster energy to be very much a part of what we hope will be continued success this weekend.”

Gordon won his second Nextel Cup Series race at Sonoma in 2003 and has scored two additional top ten finishes (’00 and ’01) in the nine times he’s competed in Cup cars at Infineon Raceway.

“Monster Energy and Robby have an outstanding relationship forged through off road racing from Paris to the sands of northern Africa and the shores of Baja Mexico,” said Monster Energy’s Joe Parsons. “The aggressive nature of Monster Energy Drink is epitomized in the effort Robby puts into his craft – be it off road, open wheel or NASCAR racing. So when he approached us with the title sponsorship position at Sonoma this weekend – especially given his history at Infineon Raceway– we were revved up to jump on board.”

In addition to being one of the pre-race favorites, Gordon and his Monster Energy/Ford Cup car will also run the DIRECTV “Hot Pass” camera on channel 798 – for those fans with DIRECTV. This feature includes real time stats, live audio, three camera views and dedicated announcers the entire Monster Energy/Gordon Sonoma effort.

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) – Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki’s Tucker Hibbert went 6-3 to take fourth overall at the Monster Energy CMRC Motocross Nation_als West coast MX2 stop at Moto Valley Raceway in Regina, Saskatchewan.

After a disappointing, rained out opening round last weekend in Morden, Manitoba, Hibbert was ready to put in a full race day on a dry track. In the first moto, Hibbert had a great start but after a few mistakes, he found himself fighting through traffic. He charged hard and never gave up to finish a strong sixth.

In moto two, Hibbert was quick off the gate again, ripping out of the first corner in sec_ond. He battled with a pack of four riders the entire moto on a rough, high-speed track; making it an exciting 41-rider, 25-minute moto. Hibbert continued to lay down fast laps throughout the race to finish third behind Jimmy Nelson and Ben Evens. Hibbert banked 35 points Sunday, moving him to eighth in the points championship.

The Monster Nationals has next weekend off but Hibbert is heading back to the States for round five of the AMA Toyota Motocross Lites Cham_pionship at RedBud Track & Trail in Buchanan, Mich.

Monster Energy’s Chris Fillmore (Litz/Kawasaki) Scores First Podium Of Season W/ 3rd @ Utah

Monster/Litz Racing/Kawasaki’s Chris Fillmore brings home the team’s first podium finish in the premier AMA Supermoto class

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) – Monster Energy/Litz Racing/Kawasaki supermoto team rider Chris Fillmore rode a strong race to finish on the podium in the premier AMA Supermoto class at the Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah.

Fillmore qualified for the main event with the 5th fastest time during the timed practice sessions. Chris then went on to finish in 3rd place in his heat race to start from the inside position on the second row for the main event. When the green flag dropped for the Supermoto main event, Chris battled through the first turn to claim 5th on the first lap. On lap four, Chris was able to make a good pass around the 4th place rider, Micky Dymond in one of the technical dirt sections of the track. Once in 4th  Chris began chasing down the top three riders.

On the sixth lap, the race leader Cassidy Anderson went down which gave the lead to Monster Energy’s Mark Burkhart. Both Jeff Ward and Fillmore were able to get around Anderson before he was able to get his bike relit. Fillmore held on for the last six laps of the race to claim the team’s first podium finish of the year in the Supermoto class.

“I can’t tell you how good this feels! I believe this is the first time for a Kawasaki to be on the podium in the premier supermoto class,” said Fillmore. “I am so proud of our entire team for all the effort they have put in.” Noteworthy: With the effort Fillmore pulled to within four points of the overall podium, trialing Dymond 50-46 for 3rd overall.

Fillmore continued: “Finishing on the podium feels great, but I want to keep getting better and go after these other guys up here and get a win!”

Fillmore’s Monster-backed teammate Robbie Horton began the main event in 8th place and held that position until the tenth lap of the race when he was forced to pull off due to severe de-hydration. The 100-degree heat took its toll on several riders and motorcycles during the race weekend.

In the Supermoto Lites class Monster-backed Dalton Dimick rode a smart race to claim another top five finish for the team with a solid 5th place effort in the main event. “I didn’t get the start that I was looking for,” said Dimick. “I felt really fast in the street sections of the course, but I lost some time in the dirt. I am going to keep pushing to get us back up on that podium.” Dimick’s teammate, Matt Abbott, suffered a costly mechanical failure on the opening lap of the main event which unfortunately knocked him out of the contest.

“Sometimes in racing these things happen,” said Abbott. “You know, I still posted some fast lap times in qualifying.  I’ll be back and ready for the next race that’s for sure.”

Next up for the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha supermoto racers is the July 6-8 AMA Supermoto Championship round at Waterford Hills Raceway in Clarkston, Mich.

Monster Energy’s Hacking (Supersport) & Gobert (Formula Xtreme) Both Win @ Utah AMA Road Race

HUGE day for Monster-backed AMA Superbike Series racers at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah!

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Jamie Hacking (Monster/Kawasaki) and Aaron Gobert (Erion Racing/Honda) both stood atop the Miller Motorsports Park podium this past weekend in the AMA Supersports and AMA Formula Xtreme classes, respectively, highlighting a very successful weekend of racing for Monster’s stable of road racers.

Beginning with the Pro Honda Oils Supersport Championship, presented by Shoei, Hacking pulled an excellent start and led after the first lap – then went on to lead the remaining 12 laps to take the win. In the process Hacking put up the day’s second-fastest Supersport lap time, clocking a 1:54.213 to Monster/Kawasaki teammate Roger Lee Hayden’s race-best 1:54.131. Hayden would finish 5th on the day, running in 2nd and 3rd for some time but missing out on a podium spot late in the contest.

In the Supersports overall points chase Hacking and Hayden made up a bunch of ground with series points leader Josh Hayes, who placed 7th at Utah. As it stands only 11 points separate the three: 1st Hayes 185; 2nd Hayden 176; 3rd Hacking 174.

In the Lockhart-Phillips USA Formula Xtreme Series race Gobert and defending series points champ Hayes locked up in an epic duel, changing leads multiple times over the 13-lap race with Monster’s Gobert and his Erion Racing Honda CBR600RR prevailing in the end.

“I’m real happy to put Monster up on top of the box in the Formula Xtreme class,” said Gobert, who sits in 3rd place overall in the Formula Xtreme class points chase. “I’d come so close a couple of times (three 2nd place finishes this season) and knew it was just a matter of time before I could pull out a win on my Erion-tuned Honda. All-in-all it was a great weekend of racing up in Utah.” Noteworthy: Gobert also finished just off the podium in the Supersports class (4th).

In the premier AMA Superbike, presented by Parts Unlimited, double header both Hayden and Hacking scored top ten finishes in both races. Hayden topped out for the Monster-backed racers with a 4th/5th afternoon, while Hacking put up a respectable 6th/9th.

In the AMA Supersport class, presented by Dynojet, Monster Energy’s Danny Eslick finished 6th overall.

Monster Energy’s Mark Burkhart (Graves/Yamaha) Wins Utah Supermoto Round!

Monster Energy teammate Brandon Currie 2nd in Supermoto Lites

CORONA, Calif., (June 25, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed supermoto racer Mark Burkhart (Graves/Yamaha) was victorious this past weekend at Round Three of the 2007 AMA Supermoto Championship at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah, and moved to within one point of Jeff Ward for the overall AMA Supermoto class points lead, 69-68.

Burkhart would start the race in 3rd place and quickly moved onto the leaders (including Ward), taking over 1st place in the race by lap four and making that position stick through the remainder of the 12-lap contest.

“Good to get Monster Energy back up on top of the box again this week,” said Burkhart, who also won the last AMA Supermoto round. “Graves Motorsports and Yamaha built me the fastest bike in the field and I’m pleased I was able to win this for our team.”

In the Supermoto Lites class Monster Energy-backed Brandon Currie retained his overall point lead with a 2nd place finish in the event. Currie started 2nd and finished 2nd to David Pingree – in a budding rivalry that will most likely carry through the entire season with the championship decided at the last event (Currie leads Pingree 50-46 through three rounds).

“Pingree rode well today, put up a pace that I was able to maintain, but couldn’t get past him,” said Currie. “I’m looking forward to training this week then getting back after it in Michigan the following weekend.”

Next up for the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha supermoto racers is the July 6-8 AMA Supermoto Championship round at Waterford Hills Raceway in Clarkston, Mich.

Monster Energy’s Athletes Set To Kill It This Weekend @ Opening Round

of 2007 Dew Tour

Big summer of action sports for Monster Energy athletes kicks off

this weekend in Baltimore, Md., with the Panasonic Open Round of the

’07 Dew Tour

CORONA, Calif., (June 20, 2007) – “Bigger. Better. Faster.” That’s

the tag line for this summer’s rip-roarin’ Dew Tour, a five round

summer action sports extravaganza showcasing the world’s top athletes

in skateboarding, freestyle BMX and FMX. And of those marquee

athletes representing countries from all over the world, it’s

expected that Monster Energy’s core contingent representing at the

Dew Tour will again take home the lion’s share of medals.

Opening with the skaters, Monster’s iconic “M-claw” logo will no

doubt dance across television screens coast to coast – from the Skate

Park rails to high above the coping on the Skate Vert ramp –

featuring a host of Monster-backed past gold medal winners all vying

for the overall championships.

In the Skate Park division Monster Energy’s Jereme Rogers (2nd

overall in ’06) was the only athlete in the division to podium in all

five events – winning both the Right Guard Open in Denver and the

Playstation Pro in Orlando. Rogers, and east coast ripper (Boston),

is the odds-on favorite to unseed two-time champions Ryan Scheckler

in the Skate Park Finals.

Also wicking it up in the Park will be Monster’s Greg Lutzka. A 2005

podium finisher (3rd overall), Lutzka’s one of a select few skaters –

including Rogers – who have the ability to beat Scheckler. Last year

Lutzka finished 6th overall, scoring podium finishes at Portland (Van

Invitational) and San Jose (Toyota Challenge).

High atop the Skate Park scene on the vert ramp, Monster Energy is

trumpeting the return of 2005 Skate Vert runner up, Pierre Luc “PLG”

Gagnon. The Canadian vert specialist is coming off a broken patella

last summer that knocked him out of two rounds. Still, PLG man’d up

and made the podium at the last round (3rd @ Orlando), foreshadowing

what many expect will be another great run at division champion Bucky

Lasek.

Joining PLG on the vert deck will be Frenchman Jean Postec. A riding

buddy of skate/snow great Shawn White, Postec blazed onto the

national vert skate screen on last year’s Dew Tour, scoring a podium

finish at Portland, along with three other top ten finishes – good

enough for an impressive 5th place overall.

And rounding out Monster’s Skate Vert crew will be fan-favorite Jake

Brown (2005 Transworld “Vert Skater of the Year”). Known for going

big – and paying the consequences – Brown is always a threat to knock

anyone of the top ten riders down a notch if he doesn’t knock himself

out in the process. Watch for Brown to improve upon his 18th place

overall finish last on last year’s Dew Tour.

Same ramps, different toys, the Monster-backed BMX Army will again be

led by Golden Boy Dave Mirra. The most decorated BMX athlete of all

time who, last year, was injured bad in a BMX Park final crash in

Denver, is no doubt looking for revenge against longtime rival Ryan

Nyquist (3rd BMX Park ’06), fellow Hansen’s Beverage Company-backed

athlete Scotty Cranmer (2nd ’06) and defending BMX Park champ Daniel

Dhers.

Also looking for 2007 Dew Tour redemption will be Monster’s Ryan

Guettler. The 2005 double winner (BMX Park & Dirt) didn’t have his A-

game going last summer quite the way he did in his epic ’05 gold/gold

campaign, but still managed a win in BMX Dirt at San Jose and a 2nd

place podium finish in BMX Park at Louisville, Ky., last year.

Guettler’s top overall finish was a 5th in BMX Dirt and word on the

streets is he plans on coming back screaming mad in order to regain

his ’05 greatness.

Joining Mirra and Guettler on the Park/Dirt bikes will be veteran TJ

Lavin. A former X Games gold medalist in BMX Dirt, Lavin is still one

of the most recognizable athletes on the tour. His top finish last

year was a 6th at Louisville. And new to the Monster team is Mike

Spinner, a teammate of Mirra’s on Mirraco Bikes. The heralded amateur

stuck a mind-bending 720 whip at last year’s Free Flow Tour round at

Portland (in conjunction with the Dew Tour) and earned himself a spot

with the BMX Park pros in Orlando. There Spinner didn’t disappoint,

finishing an impressive 12th overall against the world’s best at age 19!

On the rollout deck of the vert ramp will be a familiar name to BMX

fans – and new to the Monster Energy BMX Army – two-time defending

Dew Tour BMX Vert gold medalist Jamie Bestwick. With the ink not even

dry on his contract with Monster yet, look for a release from Monster

HQ here soon announcing his appointment to the team. Noteworthy: Last

year Bestwick was nearly perfect on the vert ramp, scoring four 1st

place finishes and a 2nd for 475 points – a Dew Tour BMX Vert scoring

record that’s going to be tough to beat. Bestwick also won the Dew

Tour BMX Vert in ’05 with 400 points.

Finally, on the FMX jumps, you won’t be able to swing a dead cat

without hitting a helmet emblazoned with the Monster logo –

especially if you’re around the podium. New to Team Monster at the

Dew Tour in another Bestwick-like coupe is defending Dew Tour FMX

gold medalist Nate Adams. Retuning star Adam Jones (3rd @ Portland

last year, 5th overall) and Monster’s pretty much got the FMX event

covered – not unlike the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team has

going in motocross!

Monster Energy/Robby Gordon’s NASCAR Run @ Sonoma Will Showcase The

Monster Green & Black

Gordon’s Ford Fusion will be wrapped in the iconic Monster M-claw logo

CORONA, Calif., (June 20, 2007) – In a first for Monster Energy, off

road race legend Robby Gordon will run a Monster-wrapped Ford Fusion

stock car at this weekend’s NASCAR Nextel Cup race at Infineon

Raceway in Sonoma, Calif.

Gordon, who’s one of the premier off road racers Monster Energy backs

through out the Paris/Dakar, SCORE and CORR off road series events,

has convinced officials at Monster to ‘jump into the deep end’ at

this weekend’s Sonoma round of the NASCAR/Nextel Cup – with Monster

Energy sponsoring Gordon’s ride from bumper to bumper, as well as

plastering Gordon from his helmet to fireproof shoes with Monster’s

iconic green and black glowing M-claw logo.

“I’ve been with Monster Energy for some time now and this couldn’t be

a better weekend in the NASCAR season for them to test the waters as

a full-on sponsor for the weekend,” said Gordon. “We’ve had a lot of

success here at Sonoma in the past and I want Monster energy to be

very much a part of what we hope will be continued success this

weekend.”

Gordon won his second Nextel Cup Series race at Sonoma in 2003 and

has scored two additional top ten finishes (’00 and ’01) in the nine

times he’s competed in Cup cars at Infineon Raceway.

“Monster Energy and Robby have an outstanding relationship forged

through off road racing from Paris to the sands of northern Africa

and the shores of Baja Mexico,” said Monster Energy’s Joe Parsons.

“The aggressive nature of Monster Energy Drink is epitomized in the

effort Robby puts into his craft – be it off road, open wheel or

NASCAR racing. So when he approached us with the title sponsorship

position at Sonoma this weekend – especially given his history at

Infineon Raceway– we were revved up to jump on board.”

In addition to being one of the pre-race favorites, Gordon and his

Monster Energy/Ford Cup car will also run the DIRECTV “Hot Pass”

camera on channel 798 – for those fans with DIRECTV. This feature

includes real time stats, live audio, three camera views and

dedicated announcers the entire Monster Energy/Gordon Sonoma effort.

Next up for Monster Energy’s Robby Gordon on the SCORE off road

circuit is the Nov. 11-16 running of the 40th annual Tecate Baja

Monster Energy’s Jason Lawrence Scores First Career Outdoor National Series Podium Finish!

Yamaha of Troy racer just keeps getting better and better as the season progresses, breaks through on podium with 3-3 two-moto finish

CORONA, Calif., (June 18, 2007) – Check out the progression in the first four AMA Outdoor National MX races for Monster Energy-backed Jason Lawrence (Yamaha of Troy): 6th (Hangtown), 5th (High Point), 4th (Southwick) and a career-best 3rd place overall finish this past Sunday at Budds Creek MX Park in Budds Creek, Md.

“I couldn’t have picked a better place to score my first National podium than at Budds,” said Lawrence. “I grew up racing here, had a bunch of friends and family show up and it was just an awesome weekend. I finally pulled some $%&@ing starts. I’m pumped!”

In both motos Lawrence, who’s been notorious this summer for pulling bad starts and having to charge from behind, got out with the leaders and made his starts stick – coming around in 4th place after the first lap of both motos.

Moto No.1 was highlighted by Lawrence’s pass on High Point National winner Josh Grant on lap four to put him (Lawrence) into 3rd place – a position Lawrence would make stick through the checkers. In the second moto Lawrence again started in 4th place, but would have to make late-race passes on Grant and factory Suzuki racer Ryan Dungey to preserve his podium finish in that moto for 3-3 on the afternoon.

As it stands Lawrence has a solid hold on 5th place overall in the AMA Motocross Lites class standings with 141 points, only five points out of 4th overall (Grant) and nine points away from 3rd overall (Dungey).

Next up for the Monster Energy’s Lawrence is the July 1st Monster Energy/Kawasaki RedBud MX National (Buchanan, Mich.), Round Five of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s Villopoto & Townley Go 1st/2nd @ Budds Creek, Md., AMA MX National

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto sweeps both motos with teammate Ben Townley nearly as fast in 2nd place overall @ Budds

CORONA, Calif., (June 18, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto extended his AMA Motocross Lites class lead through four rounds of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship, this past weekend taking a decisive 1-1 two moto win over his Monster Energy-backed teammate, Ben Townley.

With the 1-1 effort Villopoto increased his overall Lites class lead over Townley to 14 points, 188-174. The two are so far out in front of the rest of the field the next closest competitor (3rd place Ryan Dungey) is almost 25 points back.

In the first moto at Budds Creek, home of the upcoming 2007 Motocross Des Nations (which will likely pit USA’s Villopoto vs. New Zealand’s Townley), Villopoto shot out to an early lead and never looked back. The Washington native not only led all 17 laps, he also put up the fastest lap time by more than a second over Townley.

“My Pro Circuit-tuned Kawasaki KX250F was the fastest bike on the track,” said Villopoto. “I can’t say enough for Mitch (Payton), Bones (Bacon) and my mechanic in preparing this bike. They put me in a position where it was hard not to win.”

In the second moto Villopoto was equally if not more dominant. The Lites class points leader upped his fastest lap time to nearly two seconds over an also blazing fast Townley, winning the second moto by 25 seconds over Townley – who was almost 32 second ahead of 3rd place Jason Lawrence.

“Ryan was flying today,” said Townley.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is the July 1st Monster Energy/Kawasaki RedBud National, (Buchanan, Mich.), Round Five of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s Carmichael Tops Monster/Kawi’s Stewart @ Budds Creek For 100th Career Win!

Carmichael remains undefeated on his farewell tour with planned final race of the summer coming up July 1st @ RedBud (Buchanan, Mich.)

CORONA, Calif., (June 18, 2007) –Monster Energy-backed Ricky Carmichael (Makita/Suzuki) made it four overall wins in a row in four events on the AMA Toyota Motocross Championship tour, this past weekend pursuing and catching fellow Monster Energy-backed racer James Stewart to take the overall title at Budds Creek (Md.) on Sunday – the 100th win of RC’s illustrious career.

“I hope everybody back at Monster HQ’s as pumped as I am today,” said Carmichael after the race. “This one wasn’t easy. James got me on both starts, but fortunately I was able to catch him in the second moto for the overall. Thanks again to everybody at Monster for their support. Now it’s off to RedBud for the second round of the Monster Triple Crown of Motocross.”

Carmichael and Stewart’s battles this summer have been reminiscent of some of the all-time greatest one-on-one sports rivalries, akin to Ali/Frazier, Nicklaus/Palmer and Borg/McEnroe.

“It too bad for the fans it has to come to an end, but these first four races have sure been classics in terms of historic motocross rivalries over the years,” said Monster spokesman Scott Sepkovic. “That said, if you haven’t got plans to attend the Monster Energy/Kawasaki National at RedBud July 1st, I’d pull out all the stops to get there. That’s going to be one heck of a final National for Monster’s Carmichael.”

In the opening moto at Budds Creek on Sunday Stewart got out to the early lead, with Carmichael in hot pursuit. A couple minor mistakes by Carmichael would allow Stewart the win, although Carmichael’s fastest lap time topped Stewart’s by nearly three-quarters of a second – a testament to how hard Carmichael was dogging the heir apparent to his MX throne and foreshadowing what was to be a thoroughly exciting second moto.

In the second moto Stewart again shot out to the early lead, with Carmichael in hot pursuit. The two had the legions of eastern U.S. fans that flocked to Budds Creek on their feet for the entire moto, with Carmichael finally catching Stewart on lap 12 (of 17) and making the lead stick for good – with which came the overall win. Carmichael’s best lap time again topped Stewart’s, 2:01.180 to 2:01.491.

Carmichael is undefeated in overall finishes through four rounds of the Nationals, winning all but two motos (six of eight). He leads Stewart by 16 points (194-178) for the overall title, which gives Monster the 1-2 points lead riders in both the AMA Motocross and AMA Motocross Lites standings (Monster/PC/Kawi’s Ryan Villopoto & Ben Townley in the Lites class).

Next up for the Monster Energy’s Carmichael is the July 1st Monster Energy/Kawasaki RedBud National, presented by Concept Haulers, Round Five of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s Tucker Hibbert Gets Set For Assault On Monster Canadian MX Nationals

Hibbert to contest MX2 West series beginning this weekend in Manitoba

CORONA, Calif., (June 14, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Tucker Hibbert (Monster/Cernic’s/Kawasaki) returns to MX action this weekend as the Monster Energy/Canadian Nationals Series heads west to Manitoba for round one of the MX2 West series at Shadow Valley Raceway in Morden.

Hibbert, who’s well-known through out Canada on account of his prowess on a snowmobile, returns to the Monster Canadian Nationals for the first time since 2002. “I had a lot of fun racing in Canada in 2001 and 2002,” he said. “In 2002 I won a moto and consistently placed in the top five, ended up 4th overall in the series that year.”

Teaming up with the Monster/Cernic’s Kawasaki program, Hibbert got some seat time in on the new bikes racing locally up at several District 23 races in his native Minnesota. He says he’s pumped with the KX250F, adding “I can ride that bike as hard as I can and still feel comfortable and in control. It’s the best I’ve ever felt on a motorcycle.”

With two top ten finishes on the 2007 Amp’d Mobile AMA Supercross Series (including a heat race win in Dallas), Hibbert also managed to squeeze in a Winter X Games gold medal (Snocross) and four WPSA Championship National snocross wins on the year. His move to the Monster Canadian Nationals this summer will team him with notable Monster/Cernic’s/Kawasaki MX1 racers Paul Carpenter and Jeff Gibson.

“I’m excited and looking forward to this weekend to start my run for the west coast championship,” said Hibbert. “This year has been the most exciting and successful of my professional racing career. It seems like it just keeps on getting better. My goal is to end the year strong by bringing home a championship for the Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki team.”

Monster Energy's Pourcel 2nd In MX2 Class @ Saint Jean d'Angely GP (France)

Part-time Monster Enegy/PC/Kawasaki SX racer vercomes poor start to finish well in French GP

The World Championship was back in Europe this weekend two weeks after Japan, and on their home track of Saint Jean d’Angely the French riders didn’t collect any win. Christophe Pourcel finished runner-up in the MX2 class, while Sébastien got the seventh place in the MX1 class.

Christophe got a holeshot and won his qualifying race on Saturday, and entered first on the starting grid for the races. He choose a place in the middle of the grid for the opening one, but missed a good start as he was around the tenth place in the first corner. Sixth after the first lap, he needed seven circulations to come back second behind Cairoli, who was strongly leading the race. Second behind Cairoli, he had a better start in the following one as he got a second place behind his main rival. During a few laps he put pressure on Cairoli, but later couldn’t hold his rythmth and secured another second position behind the Italian kid. Gregory Aranda qualified in ninth position, crashed in the opening lap of the first heat and later scored two points.

Second of the MX1 qualifying period Sébastien Pourcel missed his first ever pole position by seven cents of a second, as Tanel Leok did a faster lap in his last attempt. On Sunday after a bad start in the opening heat Sébastien was tenth during a few laps, and then produced an impressive effort to come back fourth behind Coppins, Philippaerts and Ramon. His second start was much better as he came second behind Mackenzie, with Coppins and Ramon chasing him. Both passed him during the fourth circulation, and unfortunately Seb crashed while trying to pass back Ramon. Seventh after this incident, he will finish ninth of the heat and seventh of the GP.

Christophe Pourcel. ‘On saturday the track was not so interesting as it was flat, today was a littl bit better but it was too fast and dangerous in some places. I missed a good start in the first race, I did a wheeling and lost time. Then I pushed to come back second, but Cairoli was far away and it was impossible to close the gap. I took another place on the starting line for the next race, came second and followed Antonio during a few laps. Then I had troubles with blisters on my left hand, twice I lost the handle bar and Antonio secured his win’

Sébastien Pourcel. ‘I had a bad start in the opening heat, and during the first part of the race I struggled to find the good lines and the good rhythm. At mid race it was much better and I came back fourth, that means that my physical condition is good. I had a great start in the second heat but once more I didn’t took the good rythmth, did a stupid mistake when Ramon passed me and then felt tired. I didn’t slept too much last night as there was a pop music concert in the camping site, and I’m unhappy as I would like to do two good races in a row’

Patrick Geladé. ‘ Of course we’re a little bit desappointed, it’s so nice to win! Christophe had a bad start in the first race but came back strongly, and we were expecting may be a win in the next one. He was strong but Antonio was faster and had better lines, it was his day. But Chris was not far, and we’ll continue to work hard. Seb had a great first race, then got a good start and I was scared in the first laps as he wanted to stay with Coppins and Ramon. May be it would have been better to keep some energy for the rest of the race, after his crash he was inconsistant with two fast laps and then two slow laps. It’s not a bad GP, he is seventh of the event and fifth in the standings, it’s our goal in this class. Greg was not enough competitive, he scored two points in the last race but we expect more from him as his place is in the top fifteen’

Roger Pourcel. ‘ We had many visitors this weekend, numerous fans came to ask for posters and cheer the riders. Christophe had a bad start in the opening race, and as he and Antonio have a similar speed it’s impossible to come back if Antonio start in front, especially on a fast and short track. In the second race he had humid gloves and lost some skin, it was difficult for him but even if everything was OK it’s not sure that he could beat Antonio. Seb did a great first moto, he pushed in the second part of the race to collect the fourth place. He had a good start in the next heat, but pushed too hard in the first laps and felt tired. He’s not physically prepared at the moment to give his best in the opening laps’

Monster Energy’s Out In Full Force @ Chula Vista’s (Calif.) International Raceway CORR Event

Monster’s Rodrigo Ampudia wins Saturday’s Pro Lites class & Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath proves again he can run ‘er on four wheels!

CORONA, Calif., (June 14, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed off road racers were all over the place at this past weekend’s inaugural Championship Off Road Racing (CORR), literally from 1st place (Rodrigo Ampudia/Pro Lites) to blowing up (Jerry Welchel) and being torn up (Johnny Greaves). Carnage – and the ability to overcome it – seemed to be paramount with Monster’s big names in the CORR series.

Beginning with Pro 2 points leader Welchel, things got off to a rocket ship start for his Monster-backed team when Welchel posted the fastest lap of Friday’s qualifier (56.460 on the technical mile-long track). Soon there after Welchel was the victim of a blown motor, forcing his team to break into some high-speed wrench action well into Saturday’s early morning hours (2:30 a.m.). Down a motor, Welchel’s team ran what they considered “conservatively” on Saturday, racing through the pack and into the points enough to protect their 16-point lead in the CORR standings.

But Monster-backed Johnny Greaves, the CORR Pro 4 class points leader, had a weekend he’d just as soon forget, placing 7th on Saturday after a black flagged start and suffering a DNF due to mechanical failure (crash) in Sunday’s Pro 4 contest. This did, however, leave the door open for Monster-backed Travis Coyne who finished on Sunday’s podium (2nd) and 4th on Saturday.

Motocross legend Jeremy “Showtime” McGrath, running the Monster colors in a Baldwin-prepared Monster Energy Pro 2 truck, proved he can run ‘er pretty good on four wheels as well two, finishing 10th and 5th in the two Pro 2 races.

Rounding out the Monster placers was Rick Huseman, who finished a solid 5th in Saturday’s Pro 4 race and 8th in Sunday’s contest.

The CORR series goes on its summer break here before returning to action Sept. 15-16 at California’s Antelope Valley Fairgrounds.

Developed in 1983, Championship Off Road Racing™ (CORR) brings high action four wheel motorsports including 2 wheel drive and 4 wheel drive trucks onto closed course off road tracks. The 2007 CORR season includes seven events in Los Angeles and San Diego, Dallas and Las Vegas.__CORR is divided into two series, Pro and Sportsman. The Pro Series is composed of three divisions: Pro 4 – Full-size 4wd race trucks, V8 engines, 800 HP; Pro 2 – Full-size 2wd race trucks, V8 engines, 800 HP; and Pro Lite – Compact/Mid-size 2wd race trucks, 4 cylinder engines, 300+ HP. The Sportsman Series is made up of two buggy divisions: Single Buggy -- Limited to a 1600cc VW Type 1 engine; and Super Buggy – Featuring a 1650cc water cooled power plant.

Monster Energy’s Townley & Villopoto Go 1st/2nd @ Southwick, Mass.,

AMA MX National

Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Ben Townley blazes back from

2nd place first moto finish to win the second moto and o/a Southwick

Lites crown

CORONA, Calif., (June 11, 2007) – Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/

Kawasaki’s Ben Townley and Ryan Villopoto we the class of the AMA

Lites division at Southwick’s Motocross 338 on Sunday, going 1-2 in

the sands of the famous Outdoor National track, Round Three of the

2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

The two Monster Energy athletes also stand atop the overall Lites

class standings after three rounds with Villopoto holding onto an

eight point lead over Townley, 138-130. Noteworthy is the fact that

two Monster Energy athletes (Ricky Carmichael and James Stewart) also

sit atop the AMA Motocross class’ overall standings.

In near carbon copy races, Townley & Villopoto got out to leads early

in the a moto where they’d never relinquish that lead. In the first

moto Villopoto led it wire-to-wire, while Townley had to get past

Ryan Dungey (3rd o/a) on the second lap of moto No. 2 to take the

lead – which he did for good to capture the overall.

“I knew that in the second moto I’d have to get up front early – and

was able to do just that,” said Townley. “That’s where Ryan

(Villopoto) had his success in the first moto.”

While Townley won the race, Villopoto laid down the fastest laps in

each of the two motos. So Townley’s all-or-nothing plan early in the

second moto paid off and the former GP champ from New Zealand was

able to walk away with the win.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki team is the June

17th Monster Energy Budds Creek National (Budds Creek, Md.), Round

Four of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s Rick Carmichael Tops Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s James

Stewart @ Southwick MX

Come-from-behind win in first moto pumps up Carmichael and he rails

to victory in the sands of Southwick in the second moto for the overall

CORONA, Calif., (June 11, 2007) –Monster Energy-backed Ricky

Carmichael (Makita/Suzuki) is turning his Outdoor National MX

farewell tour into something of a rout as he again dominated the AMA

Motocross class motos, going 1-1 for the overall on Sunday in

Southwick, Mass., versus the heir apparent to his motocross and

supercross titles – Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s James Stewart.

The unique Southwick track, made up entirely of sand, has been the

site of some epic Carmichael races in the past. This past weekend was

no exception as the all-time winningest motocross racer notched his

99th career win in come-from-behind fashion in the first moto,

pursuing Stewart through much of the race before making a late-race

(lap 14 of 17) pass for the win.

“Southwick’s always a real test and I think having to come from

behind in that first moto to win definitely helped with my confidence

when the gate dropped on the second moto,” said Carmichael.

Case-in-point, Carmichael’s pursuit of Stewart in the first moto was

highlighted by a lap time that was barely a half second faster than

Stewart. Carmichael’s dominant performance on the weekend was even

more evident in the second moto as he thoroughly demoralized the rest

of the field, topping Stewart by a full second with a Sunday-best

1:54.946 – a time approaching five seconds faster than the fourth

fastest overall time in the second moto by Honda’s Davi Millsaps.

Carmichael is undefeated in overall finishes through three rounds of

the Nationals, winning all but one moto (five of six). He leads

Stewart by 16 points for the overall title, which gives Monster the

1-2 points lead riders in both the AMA Motocross and AMA Motocross

Lites standings (Monster/PC/Kawi’s Ryan Villopoto & Ben Townley in

the Lites class). But, if things go according to planned in

Carmichael’s camp, the next two races – with possibly one more – will

be it for Carmichael this summer as he’s now transitioning focus to

his auto racing career.

Next up for the Monster Energy’s Carmichael is the June 17th Monster

Energy Budds Creek National (Budds Creek, Md.), Round Four of the

2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy-Backed Jason Lawrence Just A Click Off The Podium With

4th @ Southwick MX

Lawrence goes 5-4 for 4th overall in AMA Lites class, highlighted by

a near last place come-from-behind charge to 5th in the first moto

CORONA, Calif., (June 11, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed Jason

Lawrence (Yamaha of Troy) again impressed the legions of dirt bike

faithful that follow the AMA/Toyota Motocross Championships, this

past weekend rallying from a near last place start in the first moto

to finish 5th, then backing that with a near podium finish (4th) in

the second moto for a solid 4th overall in the AMA Lites class at

Southwick (Mass.).

With the 4th place effort at Southwick Lawrence remained in the Lites

class’ top five overall with 101 points and is well within sight of

the overall podium.

In the first Lites moto at Southwick Lawrence was unavoidably hung up

in the start and ended up leaning over on YoT teammate Matt Goerke’s

bike. Up and running again in nearly last place (an estimated 35th

out of 40 racers), Lawrence got back on the gas fast and was up into

21st place by the end of the first lap.

“This had happened before and I knew exactly what to do – which was

just go balls out,” said Lawrence. “So that’s pretty much what I did.”

Lawrence began picking off rider after rider in the tough conditions

(100-percent sand) at Southwick. In his wake lay factory-backed

riders from nearly every company, including Honda, Yamaha and KTM.

His 5th place come-from-behind finish then set the stage for an

exciting second moto, one which Lawrence more than made up for at the

start.

“In the second moto I pulled a rippin’ start and came around in 5th

after the first lap,” he said. “And I felt like I had the speed to

make the podium, at least as far as my Yamaha was concerned. But I

ended up making a couple stupid mistakes and it cost me the podium in

the second moto. I’m still pumped with the first moto, though. Coming

from that far back to 5th was rad.”

Lawrence, a New Jersey native, continues to run the eastern rounds –

namely Budds Creek – this coming weekend. Again he’s currently in 5th

overall in the Lites class points standings with 101 points. Last

year at Budds Creek Lawrence was 15th overall, going 19-10.

Next up for the Monster Energy’s Lawrence is the June 17th Monster

Energy Budds Creek MX National (Budds Creek, Md.) at Budds Creek MX

Park, Round Four of the 2007 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship.

Monster Energy’s John Hopkins Scores a 4th O/A @ Spanish Catalan MotoGP

Hopkins reels off day’s fastest lap time en-route to a solid top five

overall finish

CORONA, Calif., (June 11, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed MotoGP racer

John Hopkins (Rizla-Suzuki) continues to shine on world MotoGP stage,

this past weekend clocking the fastest lap time out of anybody, en-

route to a 4th place overall finish on the Catalan GP course at

Montmelo, Spain, aka the “Spanish GP.”

Starting 5th on the grid, Hopkins diced early with multi-time MotoGP

champion Valentino Rossi and worked to hang with current GP points

leader Casey Stoner and local hero Dani Pedrosa, ultimately settling

on a hard-fought 4th place finish in front of the estimated 112,000

fans. Additionally, the effort kept Hopkins in 6th place in the

overall MotoGP standings.

“I’ve got to that point where I am now disappointed not to be on the

podium, obviously I’m happy to be in the top five but I want more,”

said Hopkins. “It was a tough race and I held in there with the first

three for as long as I could, but with about eight laps to go I

started to lose a bit of pace and as hard as I tried I was losing

that little bit more each lap - so I had to settle for 4th place. Now

we have a couple of days testing here and I am looking forward to

bettering my times and then moving on to the next two tracks that I

think will really suit the Suzuki GSV-R800. I am sure that we will

soon have a good chance of getting on the podium every weekend!”

Next up for Monster’s Hopkins is Round Eight of the MotoGP Series at

Great Britain’s Donnington Park (June 24).

Monster Energy/Pflueger Racing Trophy Truck Running 2nd @ Baja 500 When Transmission Overheats

Driver Alan Pflueger nurses the truck back in, Ricky "RJ" Johnson takes over an puts them back in top ten at the finish

CORONA, Calif., (June 4, 2007) - Monster Energy-backed Alan Pflueger and his Pflueger Racing SCORE/Baja Trophy Truck ran into a bit of difficulty this past weekend in the Tecate SCORE Baja 500 when a short circuit in a fan caused the truck to limp to the next driver change area, down but not out though they lost precious time and places prior to the problem being fixed.

"The toughest part of it is we were in 2nd place overall (timed) when we lost the fan," said Mike Emerson, navigator for Pflueger in the Monster Energy Trophy Truck. "We lost a transmission cooling fan probably due to a water crossing and it caused the tranny to overheat. Outside that we had no other problems on the day."

Pflueger was on it early, making up positions from the team's sixth place starting position and putting teammate Ricky "RJ" Johnson in a sure podium driving spot for the final change. But at around Mile 200 of the 500 mile contest was when the problem became apparent and the disappointed Pflueger had to nurse the truck into the staging area where Johnson took over, doing so in 16th place.

"I can't say enough for the job the Monster Energy/Pflueger Racing team did in repairing the truck and putting RJ in a position to get us back in the top ten," said Pflueger.

All-in-all the drive shaft, transmission, cooling fan, light bar and Alan to RJ driver change took 54 minutes and put the Monster Energy/Pflueger Racing truck in 16th place. From there RJ took over and got on the gas, making up as much time as possible and bringing the field repaired vehicle home in a respectable 10th place.

"This team's never-say-die attitude will put us in a real good position come November for the 1,000," added Emerson.

Next up for Pflueger, RJ and the rest of the Monster Energy/Pflueger Racing Team is the July 19-21 Las Vegas Terrible's Cup III.

Monster Energy-Backed Robby Gordon 2nd In Tecate SCORE Baja 500 Trophy Truck

Division

Brilliant come-from-way-behind run by Gordon nearly nets him the overall win

despite starting in a miserable 23rd position

CORONA, Calif., (June 4, 2007) - Monster Energy-backed Robby Gordon has had

a pretty busy week to say the least. Sandwiched in between a NASCAR

qualifier and rain-out at Dover, Mass., (which he's actually racing today),

Gordon managed to squeeze in a bit of desert racing - desert racing to the

tune of a 2nd place overall premier Trophy Truck division finish at the

Tecate SCORE International Baja 500.

"Robby pre-ran the Baja course twice this past Tuesday and Wednesday, flew

to Dover to qualify for the NASCAR event, flew back to Mexico on Saturday to

race the Baja 500, then literally stepped off the podium and into a jet to

get back to Massachusetts for Sunday's NASCAR race," said Joe Parsons, Sr.

Motorsports Marketing Manager for Monster, who's at Monster HQ tracking

Gordon's progress in the NASCAR race today due to Sunday's rain out. "I

honestly don't know how the guy does it."

At Saturday's Baja 500, Gordon, who doesn't contest the entire SCORE-

International Off Road Series (due to NASCAR dates) wasn't included in the

top ten draw - even though he's the defending champion in the Baja 1,000.

This relegated Gordon the 23rd starting pick, forcing he and his co-driver

Greg Till to filter about as much dust as humanly possible in their charge

to the front of the pack.

Gordon and his Monster/Toyo Tires/Pro Comp Suspension-backed Chevy truck

began picking off racers as fast as you could say "Bye, bye,"

putting themselves into contention for the overall time win by lap 350. But

there they'd run into Mark Post's Trophy Truck, which refused to yield to

the faster Gordon truck for some 70-80 miles. In fact it took a smart move

by Gordon to get by Post on a highway section of the course, but by then

overall champion Larry Ragland's lead of three-plus minutes would be too

tough for Gordon to make up.

Nonplussed, Gordon heaped great amounts of praise on his entire team for

helping put him in a position to make the overall Trophy Truck podium. "The

team did a phenomenal job preparing the truck and through out the race,"

said Gordon. "We keep that up and there's good shot we can defend our title

at the (Baja) 1,000 this November."

Noteworthy: Gordon will get a far better draw for the start of the Baja

1,000 as, again, he's the defending champion. And, to top it off, he

finished 10th today at Dover!

Next up for Monster's Robby Gordon on the SCORE off road circuit is the Nov.

11-16 running of the 40th annual Tecate Baja 1,000 - Tijuana to Cabo San

Lucas.

Monster Energy’s Paul Carpenter Wins 2nd Round Of Monster Energy/

CMRC Canadian MX Nationals

New Yorker again tops the 450 class field on his Monster/Cernic’s/

Kawasaki; teammate Jeff Gibson is 7th overall again

CORONA, Calif., (June 4, 2007) – Monster Energy/Cernic’s/

Kawasaki’s Paul Carpenter backed up his opening round win on the

Monster Energy/CMRC Canadian Nationals MX tour with another win, this

time capture Round Two of the northern MX race series at Gopher Dunes

in Courtland, Ontario.

With two MX1 class victories in as many Monster Energy Canadian MX

Nationals rounds, Carpenter has established himself as the early odds-

on favorite to unseat 2005 MX1 champion Jean Sebastien “JSR” Roy

for the overall title this summer as defending champ Dusty Klatt is

racing here in the States.

"I don't think anybody can say that I didn't earn the overall today,"

said Carpenter. "It was a tough race and I rode hard both motos."

Particularly fun for the fans in attendance was the battles between

Carpenter and JSR as Carpenter would get the upper hand despite a

first moto re-start that cost him his holeshot. Carpenter’s luck

would catch back up with him as JSR ran out of gas late in the moto,

giving the then 2nd place Carpenter the overall win in the first

moto. The second moto was equally exciting, with multi-time Monster

Energy Canadian Nationals champion JSR challenging Carpenter, but

didn’t have enough for the Monster/Cernic’s/Kawasaki racer in the

end. Final results: Carpenter 1-1 for the overall.

Noteworthy: Carptenter’s Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki

teammate, Jeff Gibson overcame some rough starts to place 7th overall.

Next up for Monster Energy/Cernic’s/Kawasaki’s Carpenter and

Gibson is this weekend’s (June 17) Morden, Manitoba, round of the

It’s Monster Energy Going 1-2-3 In Extreme Conditions AMA Formula

Xtreme Class @ Road America

Aaron Gobert (1st), Jamie Hacking (2nd) and Roger Lee Hayden (3rd)

completes Monster Energy drink sweep of overall Pro Honda Oils

Supersport’s rain-soaked podium

CORONA, Calif., (June 4, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed AMA Superbike

Series road racers braved the torrential rains and subsequent water-

greased conditions and Road America (Elkhart Lake, Wisc.) this past

weekend, with the highlight of the two-day competition coming when

Monster athletes Aaron Gobert (Erion Racing/Honda), Jamie Hacking

(Monster Energy/Kawasaki) and Roger Lee Hayden (Monster Energy/

Kawasaki) swept the overall podium – 1,2,3 – in the Pro Honda Oils

Supersport class.

Gobert, who ran one of the most exciting fans have seen all season,

battled to the Pro Honda Oils Supersport class lead after a mid-pack

start on the rain-soaked Road America course, recording his first-

ever Supersport class victory.

“Oh, man, that was a wild race,” said Gobert, running the Erion-tuned

Honda CBR600RR. “The track was a mess and the guys were running so

fast out there. I’m happy to be able to bring the win home for Monster!”

Joining Gobert on the Supersport podium were Monster Energy/Kawasaki

teammates Jamie Hacking (2nd) and Roger Lee Hayden (3rd). With his

podium effort Hayden pulled to within 11 points of the overall series

lead behind Josh Hayes, 161-150 early on in the season here.

Sticking with Gobert, the Australian also managed a near-podium

finish in the Lockhart-Phillips USA Formula Xtreme Series race.

Starting 3rd, Gobert held the podium position through the last lap

when he was unexpectedly caught by series newcomer Martin Cardenas.

With the 4th place effort Gobert didn’t lost much in the overall

points standings, remaining in 3rd overall with 123 points.

In the premier AMA Superbike class, Hacking scored a big highlight

for Monster when he made the podium (2nd overall) in Race Two of the

weekend doubleheader, scoring a 9th in the first race. Monster Energy/

Kawasaki teammate Hayden was 7th in Race One, 11th in Race Two.

Also running pretty good at Road America was Monster Energy’s Danny

Eslick (Suzuki GSX-R 1000). Eslick pulled a great start in the

Supersport class and was running up front with his fellow Monster-

energy backed racers before a problem on lap six put him back in the

pack. He’d recover somewhat and finish 12th overall in the Supersport

class. In the AMA Superstock Series Eslick finished 11th.

Next up for the Monster Energy-backed AMA Superbike Series racers is

Round Six of the series at Miller Motorsports Park in Tooele, Utah

(Jun 22-24).

Monster Energy’s John Hopkins Is 5th In Italian MotoGP @ Mugello

Hopkins starts 9th, moves up as high as 4th and hold onto top five

position

CORONA, Calif., (June 4, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed MotoGP racer

John Hopkins (Rizla-Suzuki) continued to star on the world’s premier

motorcycle road racing stage, this past weekend scoring another top

five finish on the MotoGP tour – this time at the challenging Italian

Mugello course, round six of the series.

Battling the favored Ducatis of Alex Barros and Casey Stoner on their

home circuit, Hopkins had the corner speed necessary to make the

podium. But the set-up on his ultra fast Suzuki wouldn’t allow him to

hang with the top three on the long straights and Hopkins had to

settle for a respectable 5th this time in front of more than 80,000

fans at the fabled Italian GP circuit.

“It was a busy race, but an enjoyable one to say the least,” said

Hopkins. “I would have liked to have kept the podium streak going for

Monster and Rizla Suzuki, but it was not to be today. It was really

hard going at the start and I got involved in a bit of a dogfight

with Valentino (Rossi, eventual race winner), which was really

enjoyable – it was close racing but fun! The group then sort of

bunched up a bit and then suddenly Rossi, Pedrosa and Stoner started

to make a break and I knew I had to stay with them. I busted my butt

to keep up there and the Bridgestone tires performed great The bike

was awesome out there, especially on the brakes – the amount of

stability it has under braking is amazing! The mechanics did a

fantastic job this weekend considering the conditions they had to

work in, so a big thanks to them. We are now ready to go to Catalunya

– a track I really like – and see what we can do there!”

Next up for Monster’s Hopkins is Round Seven of the MotoGP Series

this weekend in Barcelona, Spain (June 10).

Monster Energy’s AMA Supermoto Stars Burkhart & Currie Sweep

Englishtown (N.J.) Supermoto Stop

Monster Energy’s  Mark Burkhart (Graves/Yamaha) 1st in AMA Supermoto

class while teammate Brandon Currie completes the sweep in Supermoto

Lites

CORONA, Calif., (June 4, 2007) – Monster Energy-backed supermoto

racers Mark Burkhart and Brandon Currie stepped up and dominated

Round Two of the 2007 AMA Supermoto Championship this past weekend,

sweeping the premier AMA Supermoto and AMA Supermoto Lites class wins

on their Monster Energy/Graves Yamaha machines.

Beginning with Burkhart, the Ohioan got out to the early lead in the

semi-misty conditions at Englishtown Raceway (N.J.), but was then

tracked and caught by defending series champion Troy Lee. The two put

on a great battle for the sizable crowd braving the near-rain

conditions until late in the race when Burkhart put the hammer down

and passed Lee on lap 12, making it stick through the remaining three

laps.

“I can’t say enough for the Monster Energy/Graves team and how well

my Yamaha YZ450F was running,” said Burkhart. “I knew all along I had

the fastest bike out there today. I just had to show some patience

and make my move at the right time, then hold on for the win.

Definitely feels good to get my first win of ’07.”

With the win Burkhart pulls to within five points of Lee for the

overall series lead after two rounds, 48-43.

In the AMA Supermoto Lites class Monster-backed Brandon Currie

(Graves/Yamaha) piloted his YZ250F to a runaway victory, holding off

a late charge from former supercross racer David Pingree to win going

wire-to-wire.

“I agree with Mark, there’s no doubt our team set us up with the

fastest bikes on the track this weekend,” said Currie, who leads the

overall series Lites class points chase 50-44 over Pingree.

Noteworthy: Both Burkhart and Currie recorded the fastest lap times

in their respective classes.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Graves/Yamaha supermoto racers is the

June 23-24 AMA Supermoto Championship round at Miller Motorsports

Park in Tooele, Utah.
