Well, for one race at least. Monster Energy’s Jason “JLaw” Lawrence’s in the house for ESPN X Games’ Moto-X Racing the Home Depot Center

CORONA, Calif., (July 30, 2008) –  Monster Energy’s Jason “JLaw” Lawrence (Yamaha of Troy) – the reigning 2008 WSX Monster Energy Supercross champion – has confirmed he’ll be competing this week/ weekend at the ESPN Summer X Games in the Moto-X Racing event.

Lawrence, who’s serving a bit of a suspension from the AMA Outdoor, will run his smokin’ fast Yamaha of Troy YZ250F - the same bike that got him a moto win at the Glen Helen (Calif.) MX opener - for the X Games. In addition, ALL of Lawrence’s sponsors have his back and are pumped to see him racing again.

Catching up with Lawrence, he’s ready to give answers to some of the more pressing questions – between burning some mind-blowing fast laps out at Glen Helen.

Monster Energy: What’s been happening?

JLaw: “Just been working on sorting out some issues, man. I’m back training with Ryno, which is cool. Riding as much as I can, getting ready for X Games this week.

ME: We read somewhere on the Internet that you’re racing in Australia.

JLaw: “Yeah, I’m told you can read a lot of stuff on the Internet lately (laughter). Naw, I’m not planning on racing in Australia. Just working on putting the pieces back together here.”

ME: What have you done in the last couple weeks to move forward with things after what went down at RedBud.

JLaw: “There’s a short list of people I’ve surrounded myself with that are giving me advice. The main thing is I’ve got to avoid the situations that have gotten me in trouble in the past. I think the best piece of advice I’ve got is that ‘you’ve got to pick your spots.’

I mean, I’m 21 and like to have a good time. But I’m also realizing now that there’s a difference between going out and having a good time and going out and having things get out of hand.

“So that’s the immediate thing I’m working on – avoiding the situations that have got me in trouble. (pause) But at the same time I’m not going to quit enjoying the fact that I race dirt bikes for a living and, until I gotta get a desk job or something, I plan on having fun doing what I’m doing.”

ME: What have your sponsors said to you?

JLaw: “Man, that’s the best part. Everybody – and I mean EVERYBODY – has got my back. Yamaha of Troy, Monster – I couldn’t have asked for better sponsors. And yeah, I’ve been smacked around a bit in a couple meetings, but hell, what do you expect? I let a lot of people down, so now I want to prove to them that I can rally, make it back to where I was feeling the greatest – like after winning the title – everybody’s saying ‘Dude, we’re proud of you.’”

ME: What’s next?

JLaw: “X Games. I plan on showing up and killing it. I’ll have about a month of frustration to release and I’m either going to win or crash big trying again.”

ME: Any parting words?

JLaw: “Yeah, you know, I just want to let everybody know I’m learning from my mistakes. I’m never going to be the clean cut poster boy some people think I should be, but to the people that are important to me – my friends and family, sponsors and, mostly, my fans – I plan on being the same rowdy, take-no-$%@! racer you can either come to cheer for or hate – I’m good with it either way.

“So I’m all about maintaining that edge I’ve always had – just gotta be sure now to avoid the situations that have got me in some trouble in the past, know what I mean?”

ME: Right on. Thanks for the time, Jason.

JLaw: “Thanks for coming out. And hey, tell everybody to keep an eye on the No. 338 bike at the X Games because it’s going to be insane.”

Fifth gear PINNED on his KX450F at 100-plus mph launches Capes into the record books with a 390 foot, four inch leap of faith that stuns the FMX community

CORONA, Calif., (July 30, 2008) – Monster Energy’s Ryan Capes, once dubbed the “King of all motorcycle distance jumpers” by Evel Knievel himself, has stepped up and uncorked a jump of the ages – a 390-plus footer at Toe’s MX Park in Royal City, Wash.

Capes, aboard a Pro Circuit-tuned, Monster Energy emblazoned Kawasaki KX450F, took the bike up into a power range rarely used – 5th gear pinned – and hit his custom Monster Energy take off ramp, which stood some 341 feet (gap) away from the landing ramp, in excess of 100 mph.

But, unlike most of Capes’ seemingly smooth flights of YouTube lore, he ran into some problems early – which nearly spelled disaster for the former motocross racer. “I don’t know what happened, but when I came off the ramp (100 mph) the front wheel dove,” said Capes. “So the first half of my flight was a panic rev…f’in gnarly.”

Once he leveled off in flight – at an unnerving height of 72 feet – Capes then began to drift. And drift. And drift. So when it came time to set the Kawi back down on the transition of the landing ramp, Capes figures he only had about four feet of area in which to land – or it’s off the side of the ramp with most certainly horrific consequences.

“Yeah, coming down from where I was at the landing looked pretty damn small,” he said. “And on top of that the winds were gusting from the side, so that carried me over from where I needed to be even more.”

When he finally touched down Capes cracked the throttle again to gain some inertia and help lessen the “THUD” on the bike’s entire geometry.

But the KX with the Pro Circuit-tuned suspension and motor held up like a champ and Capes’ rear wheel left a measurable trench at 390 feet, four inches – a new world record!

“I’m pumped, yeah, but I still want to get 400,” said Capes. “We’re close. I figure if I can pull 103 on the in run it’ll put me well past 400. Already did the speed run leading into it and got 103. So all that’s left now is to get the wind to cooperate and we’ll be good-to- go for 400.”

Added Monster Energy’s Action Sports Manager Terri Sacks: “I was standing on the landing ramp when Ryan jumped and it was just huge. He came flying over me so fast that I was actually a little scared. I could only imagine how Capes was feeling while he flew through the air. Ryan’s jump just dwarfed every other distance jump on a dirt bike. Monster Energy is stoked for Ryan and highly proud of him.”

Also, there’ll be a special “Live” re-broadcast of Capes’ incredible jump, shot by Jay Schweitzer and Powerband Films, on the Home Depot Center’s JumboTron at the Los Angeles X Games, Saturday, August 3th.

Capes will be there, in person, to recount his jump into history in front of the X Games’ sellout crowd!

Round six of the 2008 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals has the Klatt pulling to within 22 points of the overall leader, Colton Facciotti

CORONA, Calif., (July 22, 2008) - Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki's Dusty Klatt put up a solid 4th place MX1 class finish at the Castrol Raceway (Edmonton, Alberta) round of the 2008 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals. With the effort Klatt pulled to within 22 points of series leader Colton Facciotti with three rounds remaining on the Canadian MX Nationals schedule.

Klatt opened the two moto event with a podium 2nd place finish. Starting in 8th place, Klatt started picking off some of the top riders on the Canadian MX tour - including Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki teammate Jeff Gibson, who wound up 12th after a 4th place start in moto 1.

Poised to make the overall podium - possibly take the win - Klatt didn't wind up getting the start he wanted in the second moto and did all he could to secure 4th. "I had a rough start - somewhere around 10th," said Klatt.

"Fought as hard as I could but could only get myself up to 6th place."

Gibson would follow Klatt in 7th place in moto two, giving him a 12-7 for 9th place overall on the day.

Klatt is 3rd overall in the MX1 class standings and Gibson is in 8th place overall in what's transpiring to be the tightest points race in Monster Energy Canadian MX Nationals history.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki team is the Aug. 2nd Riverglade National in Moncton, New Brunswick.

• Monster/Honda’s James Ellison 2nd @ British Superbike Cheshire race

CORONA, Calif., (July 22, 2008) – Monster Energy’s international motorsports show came right into our own backyard this past weekend with the running of the U.S. MotoGP at Laguna Seca Raceway in Monterey, Calif. In addition Monster Energy motorsports athletes were in action all over the eastern hemisphere, from MotoGP in South Africa to WEC in Wales and the British Superbikes in Cheshire. Here’s a look at what went down.

MotoGP

Monster Energy/Kawasaki AMA Superbike series racer Jamie Hacking (3rd overall Superbike class) got the ride of a lifetime when the Monster Energy/Kawasaki MotoGP team brought over injured John Hopkins’ Ninja ZX-RR for Hacking to ride at the Laguna Seca U.S. GP.

“I'm thrilled! I didn't get the best of starts from the back of the grid, but if I'm honest I was little relieved to see everyone pulling away and leaving me to ride my own race early on,” said Hacking. “With a fairly clear track I was able to find a good rhythm on the bike, and I was soon lapping in the low 1'23s bracket. I fought my way up to Ben Spies, and I was just thinking to have a bit of a breather when he looked back and saw who was behind him. As soon as he saw it was me he upped the pace and managed to pull enough of a gap that I couldn't quite stay with him. The bike was working great, and the lap times were pretty consistent throughout the race, but then Toni Elias managed to work his way past me towards the end, which meant I just missed out on matching Roger Lee's tenth place finish from last year. Even so, I've really enjoyed my weekend as a MotoGP racer and I'd like to thank Kawasaki for giving me the opportunity. Everyone made me feel really welcome, and they are a great team to work with.”

Hacking placed 11th overall, just missing out on the top ten. His weekend teammate, Anthony West, didn’t fair quite as well as the Australian placed 17th overall. Said West: “This weekend has been a huge disappointment. I had the same problems in the race that I've been having all weekend; I just don't seem to have the confidence in the front-end of the bike, and that meant I couldn't push for a good lap time at all. It's frustrating, as Jamie had the same problem at the beginning of the weekend but managed to ride around it. I need to go away from here and get it together during the summer break, so I can come back at Brno and try and score the results I know I'm capable of.”

MXGP

The South African round of the 2008 FIM MX1-GP World Championships played out in front of an estimated 20,000 fans at the Nelspruit circuit – round ten of 15. And it was Monster Energy sponsored David Philippaerts (Yamaha) who retained the overall lead in the premier class, racing to a 4th place overall finish on the afternoon. “I missed the podium by one point but the positives from this weekend were the good race in the first moto and that my physical condition is getting better after a few small injuries,” he said. “I was a bit tired early in the second moto and with the sun going down it was hard to find the lines. After about twenty minutes I felt a bit better and pushed to pass (Billy) Mackenzie but there were so many lapped riders that it was very difficult. I did not want to crash and I had already passed (Steve) Ramon. I think I will be strong for Lommel. All the GPs will be important for the championship now and I will be looking for good positions and to finish ahead of Ramon as much as possible.”

Close behind Philippaerts was his Monster Energy/Yamaha teammate, Josh Coppins – who finished 6th overall in South Africa. Coppins has been plagued by poor starts, which he explained following the contest. “For three motos in a row I have had to start from pretty much last. I knew I had the speed but I lost so many points just from incidents in those three heats. In that second moto today I decided to start a little more cautious, take my turn and then ride my own race. I came out in the top ten but then could start the hunt and move forward; this is not really the way I want to go racing, holeshots would be preferable! It was a tough track but the same for everyone. There were parts that I liked and others that I didn't. I am pleased with that second moto though; if I can improve my starts then I feel that I can push my way back in there for the title.”

And right behind the two Monster Energy/Yamaha racers was Monster Energy/CAS/Honda’s Billy Mackenzie. The Brit raced to a 7th place overall finish and is currently in 8th place overall in the MX1 class standings behind Philippaerts and Coppins (3rd).

Another highlight at the Nelspruit circuit was the support MX3 class’ 1-2 performance from Monster Energy/Husqvarna’s Thomas Allier and Christophe Martine.

WEC

Monster Energy/Husqvarna’s Seb Guillaume took 1st place overall at the GP of Wales, round five of the World Enduro Championship (WEC) held at Llanidloes, Wales. Guillaume went 2-1 in the Enduro 3 class for the overall win – his first of the season.

“Wales is a very beautiful country but they have very hard enduro races,” he said. “It was hard, the special tests were really difficult, but it was a true enduro and I enjoyed it. I was lucky to finish second on day one because Stefan Merriman was second before the second to last special tests and then made a mistake on the extreme test, which put me second. So I was a little lucky. Day two was great – I had a really good fight with (Marko) Tarkkala and (Christophe) Nambotin. Nambotin crashed and dropped from the top three, which left myself and Tarkkala. Before the last special test we were level on time. I managed to win the test and also the day, which I’m very happy about. It’s been a great weekend.”

Rounding out the scoring for the Monster Energy/Husqvarna WEC team were Bartosz Oblucki who went 6-7 in the Enduro 1 class and Antoine Meo who went 9-9 in the Enduro 2 class.

BSB

The Bennett’s British Superbike Championship weekend had a definite Monster Energy color added to the podium as James Ellison (Monster Energy/Hydrex/Bike Animal/Honda) would race to a 2nd place finish in one of the motos at Oulton Park (Cheshire, UK) and Monster Energy/HM Plant/Honda’s Cal Crutchlow would grab another podium finish (2nd in race two). Crutchlow’s teammate, Leon Haslam, would just miss the podium with two 4th place finishes.

“I'm disappointed with the second race but obviously pleased with the first one, and I wish they'd been the other way round really,” said Ellison. “We've scored the most points we've scored all year in one weekend and we're getting closer to moving up the Championship and not that far away from the top three now, and for a private team we've got to be happy with that.  I'm really happy with the way the team has worked and full credit to them this weekend.”

Added Crutchlow: “The second outing was a good race and I enjoyed it, despite not getting the win we wanted so much. I just don’t know what we have to do to win at the moment, but everyone in the team is working so hard I know we will win again soon. In race one on lap 10 I clipped the curb with the engine cases at Britten’s and went down out of second place. It was annoying but I got straight back on and recovered to a sixth place finish, which obviously wasn’t what I wanted. I have to congratulate Tom Sykes today. He rode really well to get the double win, so fair play to him.”

The best-of-the-best BMX, skate and FMX athletes are in 'Oh-High-Ho' this weekend for the Right Guard Open, round two of the '08 AST Dew Tour

CORONA, Calif., (July 17, 2008) - Let's just start this out by saying Monster Energy athletes are going to RULE this weekend at the Cleveland Right Guard Open AST Dew Tour round. Revved for the X Games next week, everybody at Monster's pumped and, in the indellible words of Roy D. Mercer, planning on "Opening up a 55-gallon drum of Whoop Ass" on the competition!

SKATE

Pierre Luc "PLG" Gagnon is coming off the richest vert skate contest win in the history of the sport (last week's Maloof Money Cup). Poetic justice say some for getting homered in the vert finals of the Baltimore AST Dew Tour opener. 2nd place isn't going to sit well at all with PLG this summer. He's the world's hottest vert skater, mixes unparalleled technical footwork with grab & spin tricks and lofty airs and is intent on winning the Dew Tour overall title. Nobody had anything for him at Maloof's. Gonna have to be some serious stepping up at Cleveland to try and slow down PLG's big mo.

Chasing the podium as well for Monster Energy will be the new schooler in old school halfpipe competition format, 17-year-old Alex Perelson. The San Diegan was 4th last year overall in his rookie year on the Dew Tour and it about to break loose with a big event. And what a better way to get himself positioned for X Games than to crack the top five, or maybe podium at Cleveland. Another Monster Energy skate vert athlete with podium potential is Jean Postec (3rd '06 Wendy's Invitational).

Also, though he may not contest for the finals or overall podium, Jake Brown is etched into every skateboard fan's memory that's attending Cleveland or watching it on NBC TV. Brown's wreck at last summer's X Games Big Air contest is so legendary that it's become part of the American lexicon in regards to "paying the price for going big." So regardless of where he places at Cleveland, Jake Brown will have as big of a following as anybody competing - and will be smiling the entire time.

In Skate Park it all depends on how Monster Energy's Greg Lutzka's knee is feeling as he tweaked it at Maloof's - while riding with a broken big toe (Damn!). Last year Lutzka blasted out of the prelims in Cleveland in 1st place, only to finish 7th in the finals. A healthy or somewhat 'pain-free' Lutzka would certainly mean trouble for Baltimore winner Ryan Scheckler and Maloof's winner Paul Rodriguez.

BMX

Jamie Bestwick is the best BMX vert rider on the planet - period. League of his own, kind of like fellow Monster Energy-backed athlete James Stewart in motocross these days. Bestwick's not finished first in what, a couple Dew Tour BMX vert stops since the tour was founded in 2005? (And one time was because he was with his wife who was giving birth to his son!) While other star athletes resort to one-off publicity stunts in order to gain attention, Bestwick just keeps stepping up his game and upping the competition bar to heights only he can attain. His secret? Camp Woodward and a training regiment second to none in the BMX industry. All about "Respect" for the Dew Tour's top star.

Ryan Guettler. Remember him? He was the last guy to sweep BMX Dirt and BMX Park in a season. Did so in 2005 and that feat has yet to be repeated. At Baltimore Guettler was thisclose to unseeding Daniel Dhers from his throne atop the Dew Tour's BMX Park standings (picture a leg broken off the throne and Dhers' crown down over his eyes - it was that close). And right there to snatch the BMX Park crown as well is Guettler's Monster Energy teammate, Mike Spinner. 'Spinner To Win 'Er' finished 3rd behind Guettler and Dhers at Baltimore and could just as easily pull off the win as Guettler could. Add Monster Energy's Dave Mirra - the greatest BMX Park rider ever -  to the equation and Monster's as deep on its BMX bikes as it is in FMX. Mirra was 4th in the prelims at Cleveland last year and barely missed the podium in the finals, placing 5th (a half point out of 3rd) as the top-placing Monster Energy BMX Park athlete.

And from spinning above the dirt to spinning discs, Monster Energy's TJ Lavin will be performing on Friday night with his new band - himself!

FMX (exhibition only @ Cleveland)

Blake "Bilko" Williams will be Monster Energy's lone representative at the Cleveland FMX venue, which will be for exhibition purposes only. Bilko, who won the PlayStation Pro Moment (as voted by the fans) with his 360 Nac Nac in Baltimore, been on a tear as of late, stomping into the Dew Tour with a ton of hits under his belt from the Aussie Crusty Demons Tour - where they land on metal ramps vs. dirt. A mere point seperated Bilko and fellow Monster Energy FMX star Nate Adams at Baltimore (90.33 to 89.33) for 1st place. But Adams, the defending champ at Cleveland, and Adam Jones (6th @ Baltimore and 5th last year at Cleveland) won't compete until Portland (Aug. 21-24).

Next up for the Monster athletes on the Dew Tour is this weekend's Cleveland Dew Tour stop, July 17-20. Link to www.astdewtour.com for TV airing dates and times. Also, don't forget to check out the Maloof's Cup event on CBS Sports this Sunday (July 20) at 3 p.m. EST.

• Monster/Kawasaki’s Anthony West cracks top ten at Sachsenring MotoGP

• Monster/Husky’s Allier & Martine 2nd and 3rd @ Slovenia FIM World MX

• Monster/Husky racers return to WEC action this weekend in Wales

CORONA, Calif., (July 16, 2008) – Monster Energy’s international motorsports competitors were in Germany, Sweden and Slovenia this past week competing in the full gambit of two wheel motorsports. From the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, MotoGP’s annual stop in Germany, to an update on the series that consistently produces some of the world’s greatest off road racers, the World Enduro Championships (WEC), and FIM MX3 class motocross in Orehova Vas, Slovenia, the Monster Energy brand and iconic M-claw logo continued their summer assault on the European motorsports front.

MotoGP

Beginning with the German MotoGP in Sachsenring, Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Anthony West went it alone this past weekend and overcame an early race crash to make the top ten overall (10th) in the 30-lap race.

West, who also suffered a big get off in practice on Friday at the Sachsenring circuit and cracked his back, still booted up and raced the main event – something his Monster Energy/Kawasaki MotoGP teammate John Hopkins was unable to do as it’s been determined Hopper’s got a similar injury to what West suffered.

So with West alone flying the Monster Energy colors over Germany, the 26-year-old Australian gutted it out from the back of the grid and made his way forward early in the race, all the way up to 7th place in the opening laps. Things were looking great for West as he closed on the top five, only to stuff his ZX-RR in a turn in the wet conditions, losing the front end and hitting the deck.

“I was pushing hard to stay with Chris (Vermuelen) and Alex (De Angelis) when I lost the front – under braking in the final turn,” said West. “It was a stupid mistake to make, but luckily the bike wasn’t too badly damaged and I was able to rejoin the race quite quickly.”

West re-boarded is Kawasaki and quickly moved back up to 10th place – this despite having issues keeping his left foot on the peg (which had been damaged in the crash, along with the gear lever). The final laps were surprisingly fast for West as he battled his way back towards a single-digit finish, only to run out of time.

“I’m disappointed because it was possible for me to finish much higher than 10th today,” he said. “This is only my second top ten finish of the season, but that’s no consolation when I know, but for a stupid mistake, I could have finished much higher today.”

Next up for West is this weekend’s American GP at Laguna Seca in northern California. West will be joined by AMA Superbike Series racer Jamie Hacking (Monster Energy/Kawasaki), who will take over John Hopkins’ ride at Laguna.

FIM Motocross World Championship

A quick update from the Monster Energy-backed Husqvarna team contesting the FIM Motocross World Championship’s MX3 class has two team members in a heated battle for an overall podium spot. Christophe Martine is in 3rd overall in the points, finishing 3rd this past weekend in Slovenia (Orehova Vas), and teammate Thomas Allier is in 4th overall in the points chase, finishing 2nd in MX3 competition in Slovenia.

Next up on the FIM MX World Championship tour is the Akia World Championship in Svere, Slovakia (July 20th).

WEC

The Monster Energy/CH Racing Husqvarna team of Antoine Meo, Bartosz Oblucki, Sebastien Guillaume and Marc Bourgeois return to action this weekend for the Grand Prix of Wales, round five of the World Enduro Championship. Leading the team in the Enduro Junior class is Bourgeois who’s in 1st place overall by two points (174-172) over Thomas Oldrati. In the Enduro 3 class Guillaume is in 4th place overall, while Meo is in 8th place in the Enduro 2 class and Oblucki is in 17th place in the Enduro 1 class.

MONSTER ARMY: Hey Jimmy Tell us a little bit about where you grew up.

JIMMY La Riche: I’m from Boca Raton Fl, just north of Miami.

MA:
How did growing up in Boca Raton help you get to where you are today?

JLR: Boca's a really cool place, we have a cable not even 15 minutes from my house, which is where I learned pretty much everything I can do. Everyday after school I would cruise over there and shred the cable. There's a lot of awesome lakes and it’s my favorite place to ride!

Round five of the 2008 Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals is in the books and Klatt moves up to within ten points of the o/a MX1 class lead

CORONA, Calif., (July 142008) - With a highly inspirational 1st place ride in the opening MX1 class moto in front of his hometown fans in Nanaimo, British Columbia, Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki's Dusty Klatt continued his charge at the overall series points lead, finishing up with a solid 4th place overall on the day.

Opening the first moto with the lead just a few turns into the race, Klatt busted out the day's fastest lap at the "Wastelands" - en route to a near 12-second win. Followed by his Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki teammate in 8th place (rough start), Jeff Gibson, Klatt opened the second moto with the lead again and looked to be in control as he battled hard with rival Colton Facciotti. But later in the race Klatt ended up dumping his bike and found himself in dead last place. And though he battled back valiantly to 7th place, his 1-7 wouldn't land him on the podium.

"I was riding really well today and won the first moto by quite a margin,"

said Klatt. "I was leading the second moto till my front end washed out and kind of banged my foot pretty good. Ended up dead last and worked my way up to 7th and it was good. I was riding good but a we got 4 races left and the points are really close now."

Improving upon his first moto finish, Gibson would bring his KX450F home in 6th place on his second race ever on the demanding "Wastelands" track.

"I pretty pleased with my riding and finishes this year so far," said Gibson, who's currently in 8th place overall in the MX1 class. "This being all new to me and I haven't had much time on these tracks like some other riders, but I'm feeling strong and comfortable on my Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki. I'm looking forward to the next stop in Edmonton.

New track for everyone and I'm also looking forward to the rest of the rounds to ride faster and stronger."

Next up for the Monster Energy/Cernic's/Kawasaki team is the July 20th round of the Monster Energy CMRC Canadian MX Nationals at the Castrol Raceway in Edmonton, Alberta.

Gibson pulls the holeshot and leads the Pa. GNCC race early, sketches a bit in a rock section then blazed back to take 2nd overall

CORONA, Calif., (July 8, 2008) – Monster Energy/Andrews/Yamaha’s Dustin Gibson scored his third-straight podium finish on the Can-Am Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) tour, this past weekend racing to a 2nd place finish at the Somerset (Pa.) GNCC, round nine of the series.

With the effort Gibson kept overall MX2 class points leader Thad Duvall within sight at 32 points back (229-197) with four rounds remaining when the GNCC tour returns after its summer break on Sept. 13-14 in Snowshoe, W.Va.

Pulling the holeshot in the Somerset MX2 class main event, Gibson led the race when the field disappeared from sight. He the re-appeared in 3rd place having suffered a slight bobble in a rock-riddled area. But where Gibson laid off, Monster Energy/Andrews/Yamaha newcomer Justin Thomas picked it up, blazing to 1st place after a last place start.

Consistency reigns on the GNCC tour, though, as the UK-product (Thomas) would crash and was unable to finish the race. Gibson continued to hammer away at the rocky track, coming back from 4th place and ten seconds behind 3rd to win the battle at the white flag and take 2nd overall.

“It was fast out there today,” said Gibson. “I am not used to that much speed. It took me a while to get used to it. My Monster/Andrews/Yamaha was awesome out there.”

Noteworthy: Gibson’s teammate Josh Weisenfels, who had six top five finishes – including three podiums – through the first six rounds was injured on Thursday and did not race Somerset.

Next up for the Monster Energy/Andrews/Yamaha team is the Sept. 13-14 Snowshoe (W.Va.) GNCC .

Block and co-driver Alex Gelsomino notch the first win in the new Vermont SportsCar-tuned 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI

CORONA, Calif., (July 3, 2008) –  In a one-off event to tune up for next weekend’s return to competition on the 2008 Rally America tour, this past weekend Monster Energy’s Ken Block (Team Subaru) stepped up and won North America’s biggest rally competition, the Rallye Baie-des Chaleurs in Quebec, round three of the 2008 Canadian Rally Championship.

Block, who currently sits in 3rd place – a mere three points out of 1st - after five rounds (of nine) in the 2008 Rally America Championships, teamed with co-driver Alex Gelsomino to tame the 115 mile course that’s said to be the highest-attended rally event in North America. Running the course for the first time, Block topped a field of mainly veteran Canadian drivers by two minutes in the 17-stage event run over two days near the town of New Richmond on the south shore of the Gaspe Peninsula.

“Our primary goal was to test the new 2008 Subaru Impreza WRX STI before we return to action on the Rally America tour in New England (July 11-12),” said Block. “So it was great to get my first Canadian win here, especially on such a difficult and competitive rally.”

Block added that he’s still getting the feel for the new Vermont SportsCar-tuned Subaru rally car, saying it’s more of a case of him not driving up to the car’s capabilities than visa versa. “I am getting better with the 2008 Subaru STI, but there is a bigger transition than I expected from the 2007 STI. This new car has more potential for speed than I'm ready for right now! We just need more time in the car, and we'll get even more out of it."

Noteworthy: No stranger to big air (Think: Stunt Junkies car jump episode), the Rallye Baie-des Chaleurs showcases one of the largest jumps in North American rally racing – the Camp Brule jump. Block launch his ride 115 feet off the hit, only to be eclipsed by one foot by another racer for the longest jump of the rally!”

Next up for Block is the New England Forest Rally, round six of the 2008 Rally America National Championship, July 11-12.

Unique motorcycle race series featuring off road obstacles built into an arena floor track opens this weekend at the Orleans in Las Vegas

CORONA, Calif., (July 3, 2008) – Monster Energy announced today that it has partnered with the AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Championship Series, presented by Lucas Oil, as the “official energy drink” of the series which opens this weekend at Las Vegas’ Orleans Arena (July 5th).

The six-race series features an array of top athletes from all point on the compass, including top racers from the American Hare & Hound, WORCS and GNCC series – along with some of Europe’s great off road specialists - in what’s become a central stage for bragging rights as to who’s the world’s top off road racer.

For Monster Energy, which will field two of the favored racers to make the Endurocross podium in Monster Energy/Kawasaki’s Ricky Dietrich and Destry Abbott, the sponsorship agreement with promoter Eric Perronard and the EnduroCross Series is a natural extension of the already generous position Monster Energy holds in two wheel motorsports competition.

“When the EnduroCross started in 2004 Monster got involved immediately upon hearing the description of the project,” said Perronard. “Since then Monster has been continually supporting EnduroCross – a sport that requires a great deal of energy, which makes the relationship with Monster a natural. We’re pleased to have Monster on board again this year and wish their athletes competing the best of luck.”

Abbott spoke on behalf of the Monster Energy/Kawasaki team on the upcoming EnduroCross race at the Orleans and is understandably pumped to get things going this holiday weekend.

“EnduroCross is one of the most unique events I do and one of my favorite events of the year,” said Abbott, who’s leading the AMA Hare & Hound Series points chase. “It’s going to be awesome this year since it’s more of a series than just one race. I know I’ll have to be patient, consistent and sometimes willing to hang it out in some sections to make it to the main event. Last year I finished 7th in the main and my goal this year is to finish in the top five – or maybe a podium.

“And it’s cool that Monster Energy’s on board with this. Definitely shows their continued allegiance to the sport of off road racing.”

From Monster Energy’s perspective, echoing what Perronard said, the backing of the 2008 AMA/Maxxis EnduroCross Series, presented by Lucas Oil, is a natural extension of what Monster Energy’s doing every weekend across this nation and now in Europe to further its brand image motorsports enthusiasts.

“What’s best about the EnduroCross events is that it’s an all-star race of sorts that brings together the off road community for six great weekends of racing,” said John Lee, Director of Sports Marketing for Monster Energy. “There’s always a lot of ‘what if this guy from the GNCCs raced that guy from WORCS?’ Well, EnduroCross answers those questions and then some as the top off road racers from all over the world will be in Vegas beginning this weekend to decide who’s the best. And Monster Energy is stoked to have been involved since Day One with this innovative form of motorsport.”

Canyon Lake, Calif. (July 2, 2008) ¬ Monster Energy Team Green Kawasaki rider Sara Price kept her season winning streak alive at the Mammoth Motocross held Friday, June 27th in Mammoth, California by going 2-1 in the talent-stacked Women¹s Open class.

Sara, who is having a remarkable year, headed to the Mammoth Motocross - the longest continuously running Motocross in the USA - hoping to capture another championship title.

In moto one it looked like her hopes could be dashed with some minor bike issues.  Sara was able to battle with Vicki Golden, of El Cajun, Ca. The two young racers pushed each other and ended up pulling away from the rest of the pack. Price ended up finishing second to Golden. After a few part replacements and mechanical adjustments, moto two saw Sara and Vicki battling again but this time Price won the moto and took the overall on her KX250F.

³It was a really good race with all the women at Mammoth² said Sara, ³There will be a really good Pro class of women coming into the WMA Championship in the next couple years, and I am excited about it."

Price will now turn her focus to NMA Ponca City Grand National the week of July 21st and the Loretta Lynn¹s AMA Amateur National Championship the week of July 28th in Hurricane Mills, TN.

Sara is sponsored by Monster Energy Kawasaki Team Green, Thor MX, Pro Circuit, Factory Backing, Pro Taper, Scott USA, Dunlop, Maxima, QTM, Ready Filters, AC Racing, Auto Styles Body and Paint, Panic Rev Ministries, and Brett Downey Safety Foundation.
