What inspires you to compete?
Boredom.
Describe your style...
Mostly relaxed, I study everything so there are few surprises. Drag racing is you against yourself, there is nothing your opponent can do to change that. (Until they make it a contact sport.) When you lose a race it was your own fault. I also like to impart every bit of knowledge I have to other racers. I hold nothing back when providing informaton, it makes you sharper. You rise to your level of competition. Racing for me is relaxation, it is the only time I have 9 seconds of completely clear thought. No phones, e-mails or work crisis to deal with. Just change gears when the shift light flashes.
What do you want to be when you grow up?
A teenager.
What's your best (clean) road trip story?
Stephanie and I were staying in an RV park in Alachua, FL. I went to the front office to pay for the space the next morning and was told they only take cash or check. I only had $5 and when I added the money Stephanie had with her I had $5. The lady at the counter told us to go to the ATM at the gas station down the road and comeback with the money.
I figured I would fill up the RV while I was there and then ran in to get the cash from the ATM. When I came out the pump was done so I hopped in the RV and drove back to the RV park. The whole way back I was ranting to Stephanie how stupid it was that in this day in time there are still people left who do not accept debit cards.
When I pulled up in front of the office my phone rang. The number was from Florida. I answered it and heard someone say, "Did you forget something?"
I responded, "Stephanie where are you calling from?"
"The gas station where you left me!"
She got out to get some coffee, unbeknownst to me... oops.
Employment / Experience Summary
Worked for Heidelberg for 5 years as a technician on the Digital Imaging line of presses. Traveled the world while working there (Mostly the US but sometimes out of the country.). I wanted to try my hand at management so I moved to a completely different industry. I managed 94 people in a steel warehouse rack manufacturing plant for 2 1/2 years. Heidelberg offered me a job I could not refuse, so I went back to them to start a new Apprentice Development training program. Strong points are, extreme organization, statistical analysis, tenacity and consistency. Amazingly enough, it all applies to drag racing, minus the stress.
