Petersburg, VA I was looking forward to this race because it would also include the completion of the Atlanta race which was rained out in April.
We were supposed to finish the Atlanta race on Friday, unfortunately it rained most of the day. As a result we would have to somehow work it in on Saturday along with the Virginia race. This turned out to be a cluster #$%^.
The people running Prostar did the best they could with what time they had and amazingly were able to complete both races with in the time constraints the track had imposed. (Curfews to be exact.)
In the confusion I managed to pull out a 2nd place win for the Atlanta Street ET race. I lost to Jim Walker on a ZX-14, who is an amazing rider. He uses no electronics and is one of the few who has been able to win the PRO ET division without them. I basically blew the light and he won.
The next day I lost both the PRO ET and Street ET races in the first round. That being said, I ran one of the cleanest runs I have ever had in the PRO ET. I dialed in at 9.95, nailed a .015 light and ran a 9.83 while grabbing a handfull of brake to slow down. Now you may ask, why was this a a good run? Because everything worked perfect except for the fact I passed the guy I was racing and knew I was going to break out. I would have run my first 9.7 pass if I stayed in the run. Typically I cross the line at 139 - 142 mph.
My Street ET run basically sucked all the way around. I deserved to lose that one.
Memphis, TN is the next race Prostar in June. Hopefully it will not be 100+ degrees like last year.
Until then...
