Commerce, GA This was the third points race of the season. Since we were rained out for four races Atlanta Dragway decided to run a points race that coincided with the "Night of Fire".

This was actually a pretty cool event. They ran Pro Mod Cars along with 3 jet powered vehicles and us of course. The stands were packed with people even though it was 100 degrees out. The jet cars were 6000 horsepower and did the 1/4 in 5 seconds at 270 miles per hour. There was also a twin jet engine 57 pick up truck with 25,000 horsepower. That thing just about knocked down the whole building behind it when he was hitting the afterburners. If you want to see photos, go to www.gouldphoto.com Steve will have them up in a couple of days.

Finally I actually did some racing. I lowered the back sprocket down to 41 teeth to soften my launch and get back to some degree of normalcy. I still think it is pretty humorous that I am actually going slower with a turbo than I was without.

The first race I lost by red lighting with a -.038 reaction time. So I went to the tower, paid my 15 bucks and got back in the race. The next race I won by doing everything I was supposed to do. I had a .07 light and was a few hundredths off my dial in of 6.67.  I won the next race with a .101 reaction and running a 6.71 on a 6.67 dial in. My competitor broke out by alot. The next race was an easy win as I had a bye run, which was good because I screwed it up.

The final race was against Ryan Coover the current points leader and I red lit on him with a -.014 light.

In the end I had to settle with a 3rd place finish. To be honest it is much better than what I have been doing lately.

The next race will be in Columbus, OH PROSTAR on 7/7 - 7/9.

Commerce, GA Ok, I am officially getting my butt kicked by my own bike. The turbo is presenting more of a challenge than I had anticipated. It is actually quite humorous. I added a turbo only to go slower than I was going before.

Needless to say I got knocked out of the points race this weekend. I red lit in the first round. The bad thing is I was running Zach Hulsey and he started his dragbike off in third gear. I would of had the round if it were not for the -.011 light.

I bought back in for another chance, and bogged the bike off the line for another loss to Ryan Coover who is now well on his way to taking the track championship I am trying so hard to defend.

Next week is another test and tune and another points race. So I will try again to get back with the program.

Memphis, TN. I will never make a change to my motorcycle in the middle of the season again...

Here is the deal for those of you that have not been keeping up. I put a turbo on 4 weeks ago. I thought I was going to be able to make a test run before the Memphis Prostar race and get the bugs worked out. It did not happen, I was rained on the 4 times I tried to run it. End of recap.

Friday afternoon I get to Memphis Motorsports park at 1 pm in time for the test and tune runs prior to qualifying on Saturday. Guess what? It is @#%$ing  raining! So they called the test and tune.

Fortunately, the rain stopped around 3pm and the track dried up for that nights grudge racing. There was not much grude racing going on, most everyone was testing and tuning.

My first run resulted in all kinds of issues. The bike shot straight up in the air when the turbo spooled up. Then at 9K rpm's it went dead and started stuttering, then the Fuel Injection system light came on. No surprises here. The fuel map was just a ballpark and needed to be fine tuned. The only problem is, I had no clue where to start. I have never run a turbo before.

I made a few more passes with the same results. I stopped by the Velocity Turbo booth to get some advice but Barry Henson and his technicial staff were doing NHRA Pro stock in Chicago, IL.

Next I ran down Johnny "Turbo" Dobrin. He owns Exoticycles and made the first bolt on extended swingarms for Hayabusa's. He also has been playing with turbo's on motorcycles for most of his life. I gave him a quick run down on my bikes specs and he told me to put new spark plugs in (Which he gave me.) and to lower the amount of fuel getting to the bike.

I did both things and made a better pass but still had some stuttering at 10K RPM's. I made another change and BAM! The bike was flying down the track @ 10.639. LOL.

My best time for the weekend was a 9.6 at 145 mph. I am having a hell of a time trying to keep the front wheel somewhere within 2 feet of the pavement. Once I get that figured out I should post some lower et's.

As for the race itself. I got knocked out in both PRO ET's I entered and the Street ET.

NEVER MAKE CHANGES IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SEASON!

Loganville, GA I was hoping to be able to post some times with the new turbo, but for some reason I am not able to get on a track. Atlanta Dragway had Super Chevy Weekend and The Silver Dollar Raceway in Reynolds, GA, which I drove 2 hours to with my brother and his Busa, was rained out. Of course it did not rain the whole way, until we were about 10 miles from the track.

So, now I get to go to Memphis, TN to run in Prostar without one pass on the new set up. This should be interesting.

I don't know who to feel more grief for, my brother Michael or myself. He just bought a Hayabusa from me and has been rained out the last 5 times we have gone to race. The funny thing is we are in the worst drought Georgia has seen in years. I guess Michael and I ought to try and race everyday so we can get rain. Maybe "Hayabusa" also means rain dance.

I will post more when something happens... Like a race.
