TEAM REDLINE IN ACTION

Q&A - with Redline Marketing Manager, "gOrk"

  • Favorite Car: "i've always driven Toyota's. But I dream of my next car being a cool 2-seater sports car, like a BMX Z-3 or Honda S-2000. If I had the money to buy anything, it'd be an original AC Cobra."
  • Favorite Magazine: "As a former Editor of it, I'm a bit biased - I'd have to say BMX ACTION magazine ... which died in 1989. But right now, my favorite magazine is definitely RACER-X. I wish there were a BMX magazine just like it."
  • Favorite Movie: "I recently saw WHERE THE WILD THINGS ARE; which was directed by my old roommate Spike Jonze - who was our photographer at BMX Action and Freestylin'. Spike has always been so talented - it's awesome to see what he can do with a bigtime budget and a small children's book."
  • Favorite Trick: "Tabletops. You can't go wrong with a nice, clean flattie. I'd like to see more 'Crews'-like Whips, though. MX-style Whips!"
  • Favorite Event: "ABA Grands every Thanksgiving weekend. It's THEE biggest BMX spectacle and is guaranteed to alwasy have exciting races for the No.1 Cups."
  • Favorite Rider: "Any top BMX Pro on a REDLINE - such as DENZEL STEIN, ALISE POST and JASON CARNE$. Or the entire Dutch National team! And when MASA SAMPEI is around, it's always a fun time. France's DAMIEN GODET is really cool - but you never know if he fully understands what you said, and Italy's MANUEL DeVECCHI is just pure horsepower.'

IT ALL STARTS WITH A REDLINE

Company Background:

Redline Bicycles is based in Kent, Washington, with 3 other SBS distribution warehouses in Ohio, Texas and Southern California. * Redline Bicycles was voted the No.1 Team of the Year by the ABA membership in 2005 and 2007, can be found in over 1,800 specialty bike dealers around the country. * HOW IT ALL STARTED Redline Bicycles was born in 1974, as the offshoot of Redline motorcycle frames. Redline’s founder was drawn to this fledgling sport for the same reason many other major brands began—he had a teenage son who wanted to give this new sport called “Bicycle Motocross” a try. It wasn’t long before Redline used its motorcycle technology in designing state-of-the-art products that wound up setting the standards for BMX these past four decades. Redline was the first company to manufacture tubular chromoly forks and cranks; both are products that have become today’s industry standard. SBS purchased REDLINE Bicycles in 1984, and has kept up the brands winning tradition on the BMX race circuit by sponsoring the REDLINE CUP series in the ABA, as well as sponsoring some of the sports' finest athletes ... such as John Purse and Bubba Harris (both No.1 Pro title holders and UCi World Champions). * REDLINE’S MISSION Redline Bicycles prides itself in making quality products and selling them at competitive prices. With a wide range of bikes in all popular price ranges, and a loyal brand following with the youth market, it’s no wonder hundreds of thousands of parents trust us by insisting their children ride a Redline bike; the same bike they rode when they were a kid.
