394 reason to jump again; getting ready, who wants...

10/8 --Hey everyone, sorry it’s taken me so long to post a BLOG – especially after my last jump of nearly 400 feet. Things are super crazy right now and I’ve pretty much been getting ready for my next Jump. So let’s catch up: here’s some info on my last jump: June 26^th, 08 – It was with the support of the community and my friends & a few local sponsors that I was able to set up my dirt bike for another BIG jump reaching yet another big number!! Unfortunately we had some winds that morning; I only had one attempt at this goal and I knew I just had to go for it – it was that one attempt that now has my front tire landing down across a 400 foot goal line while my back tire measured a sweet hit of 394.7 feet. With my bike reaching speeds over 100MPH, one attempt at launching the bike off my ramp, and two local surveyors were out to record my efforts – It was sweet! Even though my actual goal was not reached that day it put me one step closer to that accomplishment. And guess what, we’ve got the VIDEO! If you’ve not already seen it – PLEASE check it OUT! Waiting until the wind died away, first in the early morning and then again at sunset, Jason Bird (he prefers to be called just Bird) soared through the air on his motorcycle, twice beating the accepted world record for long distance jumping. Using a ramp he and his girlfriend built, he went 361 feet on his morning jump and 343 in the evening, both better than the current record. Bird has practiced for weeks both at a site near the Buena Vista Golf Course and more recently at this site near the Honolulu Hills Raceway. Bird sped down a dirt road at more than 90 miles per hour, then sailed off the ramp (above right) over the hills (above left) and into the record books. Whether or not his records are officially recognized isn't as important to Bird as the fact that he just jumped that far.

So we moved the ramp back another 20 feet putting the ramp gap at 236 feet to the hill. Surveyor Nick Gilmer came out again setting all new marks for proper measuring. Our suspension man De Wayne Jones and his wife Teri came up from Pomona to help out with speed and keep the 250 flying properly. New run in. Speed runs up to 99 mph. Just ridiculas!!!!! Power band films was out. Brought the Helicopter. 6 Filmer's, getting some sick footage. Thanks Jay. Practiced. got a couple 320', 340's then whipped out a 361 foot jump. The new world record.....Check back soon new for new video's and pics.

Gettin ready for some more practice

Hey everyone just wanted to catch up a little. We have been busy redoing the lay out again... Here we go again with a better run in and reworked hill. It looks sweeeeet. We have done some time runs. Everything is lookin good. Should be doing some practice jumps this next week. The ramp is still set at 340 feet to the down side. We will be posting some new pics and video soon. Just haven't had time lately.

New World Record

Hey everyone, Happy New Year! We went to Los Vegas to watch Robbie Maddison jump. Congrats to Robbie. He went 322 feet that night and 356 the day before. The New World Record. We also met a lot of Evil Knievel's Crew and long time friends. It was great and a lot of fun! Be setting up again soon, we will keep you posted.

It's been really fun. Some SICK Jumps. Great people to see us in action. Bird Jumpin. Us moving the ramp. Workin the dirt. Practices. Good and Bad weather conditions. It's all been awesome. But we are taking a break for a little bit. Going to do some revamping. We'll be back!!! So here are the results so far. In correct order. We have submitted all to Johny Airtime. Thank you Nick Gilmer (Surveyor) for making these #'s official

OK this is how it went.

10/02/2007 321.2 feet.

10/3/2007 313.3 feet.

10/24/2007 345.72 feet.

10/26/2007 319 feet.

Not shown is that Bird has jumped 290 feet or more over 20 times. GNARLEY huh!!!!?

Want to thank everyone for coming out to wittness the distance even if we were just planning practice runs. You took the time out! Ended up with records. We would not have been able to claim it with out you, it would have been just our word. So Thanks alot!!!!

A New week

Went to De Wayne Jones to pick up 250 motor for Sonya's Bike.

De Wayne Finished up my pipe. We got back out to the ramp Sunday night to start putting bikes back together. Caught up with Dee and Keith at the park for BBQ.

Monday Tested out Bikes. Everything went well, my 250 is running stronger now. This week we plan to move the ramp back and work on the runway. Joe Burke of Accelerated is lining up things to help us out on runway (Tractor, water truck, etc...)So, It's not over yet. Stay tuned for bigger jumps. Don't forget to comment, we like to see what you think.

What a week!

Tuesday did 321 feet. Very exciting. Jim McNeil and his dad Jim Sr. rolled in from Huntington Beach. Dee Ogborn from Taft, and Dean Poynter from Bako. Were all there to witness this. Made 3 runs.

Weds. Trigger, Madison, Bubba, and our local friends came out to watch practice . Did 3 more jumps. 313 feet this day. It was hot and needed to re-jet, but no time it was getting windy. Jay from on the pipe was there to video while surveyor Nick Gilmore made everything legit. It is now officially logged. Possibly 3 or 4 world records were broke. Waiting to hear back from Johnny Airtime.

Last night we fired up at sunset. We did not plan on running, but what the heck. We had all we needed Bird on the Bike, Sonya on the camera and watching the wind, and our friend Steve Wilson there to mark the landings. Ran about 3 times doing a couple of 290' and one 305 foot. The last run was at 6:58 pm it was pretty dark to be hittin the ramp.

So this morning we stepped out of the trailer, no wind. Perfect! Jim McNeil and his dad Jim Sr. rolled in from Hunington beach. And our loyal friends Dee Ogborne and Jake from Taft. and Dean Poynter From Bakersfield, were there to witness, That Bird did in-fact, Jump 321 feet! Breaking the world record. We do have some footage to show you I will be posting on this home page. He is going to be doing it again and we hope for more distance when the film and survey crew comes out this week..

Waiting out the wind

and sweet it rain too!!!!!! Sorry everyone who reads these blogs. We've been waitin out the wind. (have to be safe). But we did do some time runs last weekend. 89 mph pretty consistently. The bike is raring to go! We'll be hittin it soon hopefully. Do have some Bike news though, Bird has a 500 in the making thanks to Bob and Carol Grayson of Grayson services. Went and picked it up and took it straight to the Master De Wayne Jones for some Motor and Suspension work. Can't wait. But, Yes still goin for it on the CR250R.

Went out today to jump for our friend Annette. She brought her big truck, which worked good for filming on. You can see the runway and landing. So I jumped two times, 275 feet. Then 290 feet with some fun no footer's on that one. Now I am happy with the distance I reached. I've been Jumping there for a few days now. 280's smooth 8 times. Now time to move the ramp back. We got That done today too. Now the ramp sets at 300 foot for in morning with a change of angle and sprocket. We'll be off in the Air tomorrow.

Practicing yesterday morning. It was perfect. Blue skies, clouds, no wind. Hit the ramp 5 times. The ramp was set at 250 feet to the down side. First run went well landing on the top rolling down side. All jumps went well hitting the ramp at about 70 mph. Had a quick gear change for more speed and a quick change to the ramp. Now ready for the next attempts. Landing smoothly on the down side. With 75,76, and 79 mph touching down smoother and softer with every run.

Now in progress; moving ramp back for distance record!

Still getting bike together. working on going over the entire Bike. Replacing parts. Making sure it is safe. We want to make sure it can take anything that is given to it. goal is to just make sure nothing LAME happens again. We really want this to happen and with the Bike in it's best working condition.

Yesterday we went to De Wayne Jones (Birds Suspension Guy) Took all the suspension. He flat got on it! Replacing seals, recharging the shock, making sure everything was perfect.

De Wayne has been Birds suspension guy forever. He has always believed in his ability to jump, anything! I'm sure he's scratched and shook his head a couple of times. But always makes it happen!

If we just had the help of one big rain cloud the dirt would be ready too.

The next jump is coming up!

As you know from reading, (unless you just look at the pictures) The world record is what Bird is going for. Currently at 310. In the past 5 days we have been tractoring, watering, and setting up the ramp. We now have the ramp set up. Today we're lifting it up to height, to put him up and over the hill. We have it set up so Bird can start practicing at 250 to 270 feet hopefully this weekend. Then we will be moving the ramp back so he can go for it!!!! We'll keep you posted. And I will soon have pics of new location with ramp and landing. If you want to know anything drop us a line. We are real busy but will for sure get back to you.
