Noseride in Lake Michigan... or not!

This photo was taken last week at Cardiff Reef by my favorite California photographer, Chris Grant. The waves were really small, so we were making a lot of "Lake Michigan" and "Barbie-sized waves" jokes.

Later, Chris sent me this photo with the caption: "The best noseride Lake Michigan's ever seen!!" I forwarded it to my dad, who sent it to a friend from Michigan. The non-surfing friend actually thought the photo was taken at Lake Michigan, and wanted to know where exactly Cardiff, Michigan was located!! She said the name of the town was "kind of obscure..."! Funny thing is, I actually have surfed in Lake Michigan... but a meager day at Cardiff Reef is an epic day on the Great Lakes!

A chilly air knocked on my window pane this morning; I made the mistake of letting it in. Now fall's stampeding its way down the California coastline, the trees are dropping their leaves and the water's dropping degrees, and summertime is on its way to another hemisphere. Can I go too?
