I really love this DIY from Bleach Black.

I'm going to have to do this before i go to Sturgis with Keep A Breast next week!

diy: el concho cortos

with the below post as my impetus, i hacked my way to some new fringe-y concho summer shorts!

start with:

(x1) pair of denim jeans or shorts, (x10) conchos, (x1) can of krylon matte/ flat-black spray paint, (x4) packages of tandy leather lace , (x1) scissors, newspaper for spray paint, needle & thread.

begin by chopping jeans to desired length. pull raw edge theads, to start fraying at bottom- (wash/dry- if you want additional fraying to occur). set aside. second, begin by laying out conchos onto newspaper and paper plates. lightly spray conchos, to reduce nickel-finish shine, for antique effect. don't spray completely black- just a subtle dusting of paint. let dry. cut lengths of suede lace into (x3) varying lengths; 10?, 12?, 17?. use longer laces at top concho- by waistband (ie: 12? and 17?), and smaller laces towards hem (ie: 10? and 12?). loop (x2) laces on bar, for each concho. after all conchos have been laced, place on shorts. i used needle & thread to secure conchos, beginning below waistband, with (x5) assorted shapes on each side.

Westbeach is doing a jacket for their 2010/11 Winter collection to raise funds for Keep A Breast and promote early age self breast exams. 30% of online 10% of retail price will go to KAB. But they need your help! THE JACKET: The jacket will feature a unique printed lining showcasing anonymous images of all shapes and sizes of, you guessed it, boobs! By placing this print on the inside of the jacket our goal is to make a personal statement and keep the idea and cause close to the wearers heart! The Jacket will also feature a DIY breast self-check guide hidden in the pocket!! Electra Photo Shoot!

Erica - the lovely Youth Education Director here at KAB and overall awesome girl was chosen to be in Electra's Way To Roll Campaign. Her story is super espiring so I was so happy to see her chosen. They wanted her to cast someone for Keep A Breast for the shot... so I got chosen to be plastered up for the shoot!! So stoked to be part of it!! Can't wait for everyone to see them. It was pretty funny to be in a cast for two hours though.. and cold and slimy... usually the process only takes 25 minutes. I just stood in the background like a statue but it was super fun and the photographer and stylist were so nice and rad. So great to work with everyone.

10 Year old girl diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Can...

I wanted to share the story of 10 year old Hannah who was unfortunately diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma, Stage IIA . While breast cancer is rare under 18, it is possible. That is why Keep A Breast strongly encourages ladies to start doing their Breast Self Exams when your breasts are fully developed. This usually varies from 10-16.

Hannah's mother noticed that she was scratching her breast, she asked and Hannah told her that her nipple had been itcy. Her mother was concerned so she asked Hannah if she could take a look and her mother noticed a lump in her breast. When she asked Hannah if how long its been since she noticed her nipple was itcy or the lump in her breast and Hannah told her it had been a month or too. The rest was done by doctors. There is some disccusion over how to treat her as they do not know if she should be treated by a breast cancer specialist or a pediatric oncologist. We will be following her story closely.

So today is a big scary day for me. My mom and my grandmother are flying in from Colorado to be casted for a Keep A Breast event that will showcase generational casts of families effected by Breast Cancer. Kassia Meador and her mom are going to be casted too! I think it's going to be an amazing inspirational show and I'm excited to be spearheading it.

We're also having an event on the ROOF of the San Diego Hard Rock cafe at the end of the month. If you are 21+ you should come out!!!!

Ok back to this generational cast exhibition.. did I mention we are going to also be doing a Walk?! Something Keep A Breast has never done before! It's $20 to participate and it will be held all over California but mainly our big ta-da will be at the Peir in Santa Monica.. I will follow with details as they come... it's still a work in progress. But if it goes well we want to launch this in 10 other cities across america!!!

So basiclly pipergirls.. I have been so busy lately it has been insane. We are working on a colloboration with Peta2 that I can't wait to unveil. And... my clothing line Pony Attack has been insanely busy working on cut and sew item with a video and fun things.. I will show that to you later this week. Ahhh!! I gotta get back to work. But if you read this far... Macaroni.

Here is my SXSW fashion wrap-up. Some great and inspiring outfits. Some what were you thinking outfits.. and some... just entertaining.

This is Tess. She works for Pony Shoes and is always super cute. One of those girls that everytime you see her you see a item worn in a way that inspires you. Plus I think the smile is half the outfit. It's always on.

But the coolest part of her outfit today was that she had a evil feather smily face in her hair and she didn't even realize.

Cut off tees and leather pants are a bold move. but in austin its more like a uniform. conform and get weird.

I am so excited to be at SXSW!! Wow. We cant say enough about how great our mural is coming along that we are auctioning off for breast cancer awareness. Cody Cochrane, Jay Howell and Ferris Plock have been painting from noon to six for the past few days and it's really starting to come along. This mural is for SALE! Keep A Breast will be representing hard in Mission TX on March 18th at the Never Say Never Festival. 30+ bands will be playing at the Las Palmas Race Track for Keep A Breast! 10% of the sales of all the tickets will be donated to our education and prevention programs. Big huge high five to Zar Costillo!

The Keep A Breast Foundation Brings Art and Purpose to SXSW. KAB has partnered with PureVolume.com and AP Magazine and created two new unique opportunities to raise awareness! Keep A Breast, PureVolume.com and The Glue Network are teaming up to create a 8’ x 20’ mural from March 18th – 22nd from 2:00pm – 6:00pm at the PureVolume.com House at Fuego 313 E 2nd St. The artists who will be working together and painting this mural live are Ferris Plock, Jay Howell and Matthew Rodriquez. The mural will fuse each artist’s style and talent together to focus on the primary idea that Prevention is the CURE. Keep A Breast has also teamed up with AP magazine to become an integral part of the AP Showcase Saturday, March 21st for the third year in a row. The AP showcase located at Emo’s at 603 Red River will feature the bands 3OH!3, The Maine, The Used, Anberlin, Family Force 5, Bring Me The Horizon and many more, against the backdrop of artwork from our breast cast art exhibitions. My Hair Removing Fairy Godmother

I am hairy. Like a monkey. It has its ups. My hair is long, it grows fast. So do my nails. But lets talk about the eyebrows. Yea, not the cutest. My whole adult life I have been plucking and waxing, then going back to plucking.. then I went and saw my current esthetician, Mari. Or whom I like to call her my hair removing fairy godmother. Literally I never thought a brow wax could save your life. I went to her twice. The first time people said things like Oh did you lose weight, and oh you look great. I thought it was in my head. Then it happened again, and then again the next time. So basically what I am hear to say is a good eyebrow wax is like a facelift for under $20. Live in San Diego - go find Mari. She works at model call salon - and if you mention me you get 1/2 off these magical eyebrow waxes. If you don't - well go find your own hair removing fairy godmother. They are out there.

Keep A Breast reports from Hawaii

Keep A Breast wants to hank you to everyone who came out and made the Keep A Breast Hawaii event a huge success. Unfortunatly I was unable to be there but several piper girls including Christina and Shea were in attendance. Special thanks to the artists for donating their time and talents to paint the casts.

Word on the beach is this was the party of the winter up here on the North Shore. The bands rocked it and DJ Eskae held down the dancefloor as usual. Shouts to Pocket Full Of Monsters and The Ground Up Pirates who painted the massive 8′x12′ wall LIVE! The pandas looked AMAZING. Also thanks to Vitamin Water and Emergen-C for keeping the people hydrated. Most importantly, we were able to raise $2,000, not including sales of the breast casts, for The Rell Sunn Education Fund and Keep A Breast.

We are proud to be working with Wyland Galleries in Haleiwa, HI as the official seller of the K.A.B. Hawaii breast casts. Proceeds will go to The Rell Sunn Education Fund and Keep A Breast. The casts are now on display and available for sale at:
