Shortly after beginning of the 1/16 final, just before Michal’s first round, few minutes of very hard rain, upper part of the race course have changed into real water fall. Deep mud, very slippery stones in the rock garden and asphalted turns, it all made the race very challenging. Once again, Michal demonstrated a set of amazing starts and excellent first turn moves all the way to the final round. There were three Red Bull riders on the gate of the last round of the day. Michal Prokop, Filip Polc and Gee Atherton. Last but not the least was Brian Lopes.

Michal presented another Holeshot and was leading the pack. On a course which started with a mountain bike layout and ended in a parking lot the World Cup Champion of 2005 managed to stay in front of the Czech rocket all the way through the finish line. Silver in Champéry and third place in the World Cup standing after two races for Michal.

“Coming home from the land of world’s most precise watches makes me confused. I fell off two times in the training but thanks to great working UFO body protectors I always stood up without problem. After all, second place behind Brian is good one. That man is just amazing and we all would be lucky to be in such a shape at his age. On the other hand, it was not a race that I could really enjoy. Why to organize the World Cup race where it looks like people are neither happy nor proud to host such a top class event?! They call it the World Cup but many local events are way better organized. I don’t see any other reason why to organize that important race there, except because it is so close to the UCI headquarters. Most of us are traveling thousands kilometers to make a good show with hope also promoters will make their best. Some do, some not… unfortunately!

I believe Phil Saxena made his best to build this race course but I really missed more flow. So short first straight followed by soft flat turn was maybe spectacular but at first it was great place for dangerous moves! You know this new idea of tracks combining downhill like and BMX like sections is basically ok but it is not possible to build any 100% working race course without a chance to test it before the World Cup race. We need to improve the courses step by step. To change this part and that, make new turn or a straight, add a rock garden…. Not to remove everything and start from zero again! To build brand new course on a green field for every single World Cup round is expensive and stupid. For example, I like the course in Mont Sainte Anne. It is still on the same place and they just improve it every year a bit. That works!

Someone said that those new school DH like tracks are here because of pursuit to get DH riders back to fourcross. Forget it until UCI will change the World Cup weekend schedule. Nobody can stop DH session and jump on his 4X bike at the same moment. Those guys are tired and have another trainings and race next day! Did anybody think how dangerous is to race fourcross after so many hours of training on such a slope like in Champéry?! So, the World Cup schedule is something to think about. Why to spend so much time in a sleeping ski resort waiting for one hour long show? Are we all that rich?! We are not downhillers, our race courses are ten times shorter and remain almost the same during a day. We could easily have two races during four days… Or, what about to have two hours training session on Friday afternoon, another hour and a half on Saturday a.m. followed by qualification? Two World Champion titles, two World Cup titles, ten World Cup wins, two European Champion titles, two Jeep King of the Mountain titles, gold from SEAT 4X Masters, silver from UCI BMX Supercross, final at BMX Worlds and 90% of Olympic qualification ranking points for your country seem to be enough.

Michal Prokop is the King of the Czech cycling 2006! Since 1966 Czech Cycling Union officials and selected sports journalists did vote 27 athletes including one queen all presenting traditional disciplines of road or track cycling. Also the cycle cross and cycle-ball already had their multiple kings. Luckily not only for the Czech fourcross and BMX community, we have Michal Prokop, the unique guy breaking through all the limits. And thanks to Michal, after long 41 years of the oldest sports award here in the Czech Republic, first ever fat tire King was finally crowned.

"This crown belongs not just to me but to all the people working so hard to support me on my way day be day for many years. My family, coach, agent, sponsors, Author gangsters and fans have to have their own crowns. Hopefully, the power of this award helps fourcross and BMX to be taken by public media as the serious ways of cycling. I am happy to be the first ever Czech rider bringing the deserved pride to all the fans of fat tires. For a long time we had to fight hard to be taken as a real part of the Czech Cycling Union with all the rights and now it looks that we really are. I will work hard to confirm this next year again but you know, it is just award and it is not all in my hands, legs or bike, it is about what people think about what you do. Votes are not the same as race results."
http://www.loopd.com/members/Prokop/blog.aspx?resourceId=49782c9f-5f22-47b1-b138-31e5beb748c0Tue, 12 Jun 2007 11:10:20 GMTMichal Prokop meets UFO!
It has been an amazing 2006 season for Michal Prokop. He was not short of desire to work or wish to encounter obstacles; first of all he was motivated by his great passion for sport, which even before activated his mind. Inside the 120-square-metre garage, this hothouse of dreams soon began to yield fruit to end up with substantial profits, official recognition of its high quality products and several motocross and enduro victories. However, even he would have never been able to imagine that his modest company only with three employees could become one day the greatest world reality in the market with accessories for all-terrain vehicles. UFO Plast assumed the first position in production of plastics for motorcycles, protective elements, and sportswear in the third millennium.

Nowadays, the company still retains the industrial philosophy which inspired its founders 30 years ago, but it applies these same principles to new contents and products. The headquarters now spread over surface of <st1:metricconverter w:st="on" productid="8.000 square metres">8.000 square metres</st1:metricconverter> and are characterized by a modern and eye-catching architectural design, while the futuristic technological features make it possible to deal with orders in real time. Five warehouses, two product shops, a solid sector of research and development, and eighty employees allow UFO Plast to produce its 3,000 products, which they supply every year to thousands of sale places located in the entire world. Searching for shapes, selection of materials and diligence focused on quality represent three conditions thanks to which UFO Plast trademark managed to break through during the time with permanently growing success.

And at the end – sport – the final goal, the fulfillment of which is substantiated by many titles achieved in world championships in motocross and enduro – dreamt-off important winnings, behind which there is the soul of UFO Plast trademark, the first real supporter of this beautiful sport.

Learn more about UFO Plast products at www.ufoplast.com

http://www.loopd.com/members/Prokop/blog.aspx?resourceId=fbd5860a-39dc-4878-ab61-d0f7424da1d7Wed, 10 Jan 2007 05:32:15 GMTProkop had a secret weapon!
Today it was revealed that Fourcross World Champion Michal Prokop had a secret weapon during his pursuit of the rainbow-striped jersey in New Zealand earlier this year.

“KORE Components had asked me to evaluate their cockpit components last Spring. World Champion, World Cup Winner, European Champion, National Champion and Czech 4X Cup winner dominated all biggest fourcross events, bringing the crowds amazing battles with his long time rival Brian Lopes and many other fastest 4X and BMX riders.

After the horrible crash leading in worst injury of his career at World Champioships in Livigno and luckily successful recovery, Michal Prokop started his off season for the very first time with pretty serious and hard training on track bicycle. But you know Michal, this young man is always looking for new goals. It was not just a training, four months were enough to be nominated into the czech national team and bring Cane Creek´s fantastic new wheels Aros 58 Track for 2006 Track World Championships in France!

Over six thousands spectators had the first chance to see Michal Prokop in action after his injury at the SEAT 4X Masters, first ever international fourcross race in Prague, capitol of the Czech Republic. Eighty top riders of 12 nations, including current world champion Brian Lopes, freeriding star Kyle Strait and world cup winners Leive-Ove Nordmark and Guido Tschugg accepted Prokop´ s invitation to this celebration of the sport of fourcross running on brand new track build according to the plan of Mr. Holeshot as many call Michal Prokop. Michal won the qualification and all his heats which brought him into the great final against Marosi, Tatarkovic and Lopes. Final round of SEAT 4X Masters was just pure essention of fourcross racing with Prokop and Lopes drag racing on 70 metres long first straight. Unique combintation of precise start reaction, unbeatable strenght in his legs and technical skills, that´s what you would need to beat Michal Prokop on his home course named Polis XIII. None was faster on 1st May 2006, Prokop clearly won SEAT 4X Masters. For more details please visit www.seat4Xmasters.com

Five days left and Prokop stays on the top of podium again. UCI 4X World Cup 2006 started in spanish Vigo and it´s the same simple game as it was in 2005. Prokop won the qualification, all his heats and then also the final.

One week later, another country, totally different bike. No matter what kind of bike he is riding, consistency could be his nick name… Prokop is taking another gold, this time at 3rd round of European BMX Championships in Germany!

May 21st, Czech 4X Cup, round one. Not just a national level race but the base where many World´s top fourcross riders of the UCI number one ranked nation of the Czech Republic are comming from. Prokop, Marosi, Tamme, Tatarkovic, Slavik and many other not yet well known 4X dogs you can see at Czech 4X Cup. To get into the final in Elite category is just a dream for most of 4X riders. Note that one position on the gate is almost booked. Every single race of the Czech 4X Cup that Michal Prokop attended he also won. Same in Prerov. Fourth gold in three weeks!

Let´s move to Scotland. UCI 4X World Cup continues in Fort William. Friday´s qualification belongs to Czechs. Again. Prokop is first, Tatarkovic second, Tamme nineth. Saturday´s race is running under Prokop´s simple scenario. Five rounds, five wins. From start to the finish line.

Author Prokop 4X signature frame that anybody can buy, equipped with new Manitou R-Seven fork, Kenda tires, Cane Creek wheels, Hayes brakes, Shimano shifting parts and Shaman Racing carbon chainguide were definitely approved to be a winning combo.

If health, Michal Prokop never stops to race. This „machine like guy“ takes about 50 race results every year and most of them are medal positions. The World´s best gravity riders will try to catch him again this Saturday at third stop of UCI World Cup in Willingen, Germany.
