Round 12 went well as far as finishing, but the bike took a dump on us after the 2nd moto, the thing just went blahh. Found the reedpetals broke and luckly stuck in the intake and not iside the cases. We were lucky enough to be able to borrow a friends bike for the main event for the 10 to 11 class and finished 1st for the night. Unfortunatly mother nature came in to play for the open class and a down pour insued, i took J out of the main for that race because we were on a borrowed bike and the rider we were closest in points was the guy who we borred the bike from, he was injured and could not make the main. I decided to play it safe and sit it out he finished 5th overall because he raced the first round. Round 13 went well he finally cleared a big double that he had been afraid of so that bossted hime well, but like carma is he came a bit short and lost it and crashed so he finished 2nd for his class. The open class wnet well 2 third place finishes for the night. We have been practicing at a plce called busco beach, it is a atv park with a small track. It is not very technical but it is long and a decent rythm section for speed practice. He has improved his speed confidence a bunch here, it also has big corners for practicing to rail a corner. Well all for now we have a race this weekend then back on every other weekend for the rest of the year our break is over!
Thanks for reading my rambles.
Mike (papa)http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=68541c15-62ec-43dc-a203-df6e97b2aaa6Mon, 24 Aug 2009 19:55:58 GMTJune 2009WOW what a fast couple of weeks we have had. We have complete 4 more rounds of racing bring the latest rnd to 11, so what have we been up to? For starters rnd 8 and 9 went well just hard racing learning as he went, 10 and 11 went super! Over the past month he has been down hard and gotten up and never was lapped! He has beaten 85cc riders in the open class and has gotten so much faster and confident!! J and I took a motor cross school with Ron tiechner in georgia 2 weeks ago, it was held at Nico Izzies practice track! We meet hid dad Narrio and he is cool and anything. The track was huge and took 2 to 3 min to get around. The 2 day course was very well put together i was the water boy as it was 100 degrees or better everyday we were riding! J put 4 hrs on the bike while there then i drove back that sat evening when clas was over to stay at the track for sunday's race on fathers day! the class has seemed to help he does have some extra confidence so time will tell. We have started practicing braking like we learned then we do the figure 8 track, then starts and start all over again. I am looking forward to the 2 week break i need to get stuff done around here and he needs a break to be a kid!
Thanks for reading my ramblings
Mike (papa) #169!!http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=96243629-3403-400f-bf42-9073ff0223aeTue, 30 Jun 2009 19:26:46 GMTRnd 6 and 7 of the SMX series in North Carolina!Hello all we have had a heck of a time here in North Carolina, we started out the month of May with having my bike a KTM 250 and Joshua's Bikes stolen from our garage (locked). We made round 6 with the help of a racer in same class by letting j use his practice bike (great!!). rnd 6 was in tuskarora and he does real well there when it is not a rain out. That day started out great he got first in his 10-11 class then while waiitng for the open class the clouds came in. You guessed it as soon as we got on the gate waitng for the moto on the track the light rain started, then when the gate dropped it all came down (i have posted pictures). He had a great time racing in that stuff and when the moto behind our finished the rain stopped, but by then they canceled the 2nd motos.
This past weekend started out with my getting his new 2007 ktm done going thru so we could practice before RND 7 on sunday. Well the clutch was dragging when it was fired up which was bad because when i test rode the bike it did not do this! So i figured just go and ride it it will loosen up (it did), but about 2hrs into practice he started jumping on the pegs and slowing down dramaticly like he was tired or something was wrong. I was standing on a table top i was getting him to clear when he came up to the top the rear shock spring came out the bottom of the bike!!!!!!!!! I was fortunate that josh wasn't in mid air when this happend and he pays attention the the bike like we talk about, he new enough to slow down and stop. I was able to borrow a shock and race rnd 7 which he had a blow from the sand monster a couple of times. He finished 3rd for both classes and was upset at him self, so we will see if he tries harder next rnd to improve himself.
Thanks to everyone who reads these ramblings
mike for josh #169
(maybe next time i will have him write everyone)http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=a2c7cb89-be9c-4daa-ba1d-99fa59a55069Mon, 01 Jun 2009 19:20:04 GMTRnd 4 and 5 of the SMX series in North Carolina! We have made it thru 2 more rounds of racing here in North Carolina in the Southern Motorcross Series. Josh raced well in Rnd 4 at Half Moon finishing first in his class and 3rd in the open class but never lost sight of the faster rider always.
Rnd 5 was different story we went saturday may 2nd and had just had a new rear shock and rear tire installed so practice was a must. After 2 laps we made adjustments and got the bike settled in so we made a deal for him to clear a 55 or so table top that the riders in his class are completing that same day, so he took it and did it easliy. the next session of laps included him trying the next longer table top after the one just cleared and he was close, but about lap 4 the wind took him and when landed slammed the bike sideways! putting him into the ground very hard enought to bend the bars and rear sub frame!!
After getting him up and checked out only major bruising, even under the elbow and knee braces! Thats how hard he hit the ground, we went and checked bike out and thankfully our competator and freind loaned us their bars off the spare bike (Thanks JJ #28) and he actually came out 25 mins later and said he was ready. He went back out same day about 1 hr later and cleared both jumps again with no trouble!!!
the next day during race he completed bot also impressing his nana and friends who didn't see the wreck but saw the damage afterwards. I have posted 3 pics on the site but hey are no comparision to the real thing. Thanks EVS for great equipment!! I truely believe it saved the collar bone from being broke.

Papa (Mike) the Mechanichttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=e9ebb064-4023-48cb-90dd-af0e477283c3Tue, 05 May 2009 19:27:12 GMT2009 Round 3Well we made it thru rounds 2 and 3 here in North carolina with only minor cold and mud!! this past weekend we went to Haw branch NC for the Southern Motor Cross round 3. Josh finnally got his new EVS helment and No Fear race Gear and it seemed to help his ego or something becasue the little dude was hot! He had an awsome start both of his 10-11 class races with a 4th and 3rd into the first trun out of 10 riders, but the first moto of the 7-11 class he lit them up! The class had three boys on 65's 2 in the lower class (7-9) that give J a run for the money and normally get him and 4/ 85cc D class riders. well the gate drops and he is ahead of everyone smokin into the first corner where the other 2 in his group have mod bikes and a little more experience get him in the first set of whoops out of the first trun. But you should have seen him out front runnin hard!! he ended up thrid for the day in the that class. In his 10-11 class he rode very well and was leading 2 riders who normally beat him untill later on in the race when they got him ,but they are in the 7-9class so didn't affect his place. He did have another rider in his class so wasn't like he raced him self. anyway he did fall on lap and got back up and rode so hard he didn't get lapped! all for now we have round 4 next week i wil post results again
Papahttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=15abcd4e-1460-47c5-a303-0ad05dff5b31Mon, 20 Apr 2009 18:21:54 GMT2009 Race season opener
Well we kicked off the 2009 Southern Motor Cross race season today Sunday, 22 March 2009 at Tuscarora N.C. in style!! It is Josh’s second season on the KTM 65 but this year he moved to the 10 to 11 year old class, much faster riders. We spent the winter down time rebuilding the bike, to include new graphics and parts, from all of our GREAT sponsors (pictures to come), so we are the best looking rider out there.

The first moto for his normal class went well he was 4th out of the gate and 3rd into the first turn by the 4th turn he was caught up in a spill with other riders and went down, but by lap 4 he caught and passed 3 riders to come in second in his class. He went right back 2 motos later and raced his open class (7 to 11) and placed 3rd.

The second round of motos went great clean start and was in third for his class and doing great. He decided to give the bike some gas and cleared the finish line table top which is 50 feet or better!! This is a first for him that is why we are proud he excelled and improved today. The last moto for the open class he came in third again so both classes he came in the top 3 at the end of a great day!
http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=951e5c9e-3a05-4174-bddb-eb65b0482134Sun, 22 Mar 2009 18:56:43 GMTFirst Arena Cross Well I have finally made some time to talk about J's first arena cross race in Greensboro NC last month. For starters we finished the bike rebuild the weekend before and only rode around the house for break in time. Saturday was a great time he did well in qualifiing in his heat race he finished 5th out of 6 which wasn't bad. The track decided to transfer all 18 kids to the main event which was great! Josh was excited because he got to run out on the track during the opening cerimonies, they have 3 pro rider get on the finsh line jump and then intro the 65cc class as the future of motorcross and they all run ou to the hill and high 5 thr pro's. the crowd loved it also. the main cam along and he had a great start right there with everyone in the 1st turn and then came out ahead of a few riders, a couple more turns and he passed a couple more. I thought he was in top 10 but they said he finished 13th, he didnt get laped until the last turn.
Sunday was a ruff morning we had to get up at 6am after getting to bed around midnight, so tired is understatment. the heat race went well again not last and did well in the racing didn't even get lapped this time! The main event finally came around after what seemed like an eternity. I think the nerves finally got to him and it didn't help i told him he could easliy geta top 10 finish because he had gate choise 9 so he already beat some of the guys in the time qualifing, so he gets on the gate in the second row with the smoke in his eyes from the riders (untuned bike) in front he got distrated and was dang near last out of gate and just never got back up to par. he placed last that day so not a great day but safe. We had a good time but if you go save you money they like to take it!
Thanks to all of our sponsors for the great year to come.
Papa for Joshhttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=34e7f29b-9ab4-4429-b407-fd32e5299f9cThu, 19 Feb 2009 19:16:19 GMTEnd of year 2008 AwardsWe we made it thru the year and Josh did well, he finished 3rd in his 65cc 7 to 9 class and 2nd in the 7 to 11 open class. The year end points championship missed him by 3 little points so he said he will work double hard next season to make sure he gets it! Next season he moves up to the 10 to 11 class so the guys get faster and he said he is ready.
We would like to thank all his sponsors for giving him a chance and helping us thru the year and next to come.

Thanks for reading and supporting us also
Merry Christmas!
Papa Nana and Joshuahttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=f3f4bc86-485d-42ae-a70f-917cc2b333d8Wed, 24 Dec 2008 10:41:59 GMTSMX RND 7 at Half moonWell i wasn't ablt to go to the last round for racing the weekend before was rained out and rescheduled for this past weekend, i was aready set to go out of town. So Nana and josh went to the races!! Everything went great there are a lot of good people we race with they helped load and un-load the truck for her and amde sure J was safe. The track was muddy because of rain the day before and then the temp dropped low like 30's so jackets and mud wow what a combo. He did great in the open class 7 to 11 he raced against the 85D riders again and beat one even after falling down in a corner and getting passed! the track like i said was slippery and everyone was falling he fell so hard in that corner it broke the front fender about in 2 peices only a very small section holds it together now. He raced very well in his 7 to 9 class finshed 3rd the first round had a faster rider fall down and J stayed ahead to hold him off to finish 3rd but the next race that rider stayed up, but J stayed on his tail but couldn't get around. The wife said he was very fast and confiedent the entire day i think he is getting ready to move up in his mind to going faster which is just in time because he move up in age bracket to 10 to 11 class. I will update after his award banquet this weekend. Thanks to all his sponsors for making this fun for him he enjoys getting better and telling people about it.
Papahttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=7dac2adf-bb26-4642-8cdd-96402d6343e6Tue, 09 Dec 2008 19:43:05 GMTSMX RND 6 at Sandy RidgeWell for a day that josh knew he wasnt going to do well he did AWESOME! This track is the first time that SMX has raced here it is a very new track and is in the middle of a cleared forest lot in NC, so lots of sand! The day started off cold as heck 32 deg so jackets and Rv for sure, the track is very tight and technical basically turn jump turn jump and so on. This track is very sandy and loose but the front strech(one and only) is hard and slippery. J's first practice wnet well and he got comfortable so the first moto in the 7 to 11 class he got good start and rode great found the sand monster at one corner several times today but always seemed to pull it out and finished 2nd. The next moto was his 7 to 9 race and he flew around the track and stayed away from the others getting stuck in the deep sand he rode smart and finished 3rd out of 8 riders!!
Now for the good stuff in the second round we had a discussion about starts and how to get his head right so what does he do got his first HOLESHOT!!!! he came out of the gate like he was on fire and held it until the first turn where the 85cc rider took him and the normally faster guy got him but he stayed in front of the guy he beat last moto and finished 2nd. The 7 to 9 moto was awesome he had great start and ended up 4th into first couple turns but the sand monster got a guy in front and they got stuck together, so the rider J is in contention with for year end points was 3/4 lap ahead and he slowly caught up and by lap 5 and he passed him!! wow what a ride and he finished 5ht but 3rd overall. i am very proud of the guy he didn't give up and caught and passed a rider a good ways in front. Only one more race for the season and it is close in points only 4 between the top 3 which is were our guy is at! Thanks to our sponsors and you for looking.
Papahttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=6fccb5d7-b5e8-448e-82c2-288e87db672cSun, 23 Nov 2008 18:17:45 GMTSMX RND 5 at Tuskarora, NC
We raced in the 5th round of our series (Southern Moto Cross) and Josh raced great yesterday. This track is Tuskarora and not big jumps but has one with a long straight away that he loves jumps big everytime! He raced in the 65 7 to 11 open with the super mini's also and finished 2nd both motos. The best part of that class was the second moto's start all the 65 guys came out together and hit the first turn back after the gate and all three were side by side sliding around corner looke awsome my hair was standing up! J gave her the gas and came out and powered around to get 2nd and on heels of the first rider and never looked back. The second moto was his 7 to 9 regular class he did great there also was behind a slower rider and wouldn't pass for some reason then about lap 4 he came around that long corner up the straight away and shifted to 5th gear and sailed for ever over that big double (it is not tall but you go far!) and landed right beside the guy in front of him and powered around (Finally power). We were real proud of him but we are also working on the passing thing in straight aways where it is usually safer. Thanks to our sponsors that help keep this bike running and J in the seat and Thank you for looking here.
http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=9a88f963-34cc-448c-a09c-ac3e6a152a29Mon, 17 Nov 2008 19:04:29 GMTJMP PRO Shoot out D-29We went to d29 JMP pro shoot out this last weekend and i had a good time and i think Josh did also. He has never raced this track so it was a hard first practice getting use to the track style. It is a loose dark dirt that doesn't seem to pack down, stays loos even in the straits. He only raced his 7 to 9 class and placed 5th in the first moto and only fell on last lap at last corner but had time to get back up and finish with not one passing him. He also in that moto kept up with a rider that normally pulls away from him maybe the track had something to do but i think J was on that moto. The second moto he finished 6th and he fell the very first lap and took his head out of it, one rider fell near end so he was able to get in front to make it 6th over all. I enjoyed seeing the pro riders dang they are fast! I have seen video of fast riders but never seen it up close what a race loved it. I have always seen round track and dirt track races so motor cross pros was a good time for me. we have 3 races left in the Southern motor cross winter series and J is in 2nd place maybe this past couple of weekends will help his confidence and move up. we will see. Thanks for looking
Papahttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=b3e2fa05-132b-4d18-85f9-185e2f89d106Tue, 11 Nov 2008 19:52:28 GMTMy First AMA Race I raced in my first AMA santioned race last weekend in District 29 at Cow Branch in NC. I have raced here before so i like the track and we did not have a race for Southern Motor Cross. We arrived early to get set up and redo my ama membership, after i played with my friends. There were 12 motos that day and guess which moto i raced in yup 12th! There was 10 riders in my class 7 to 9 and 4 in the 10 to 11 class, that put 14 on the gate the biggest i have done yet. the first moto i did not do so good but the second moto i had a great start and finished in 8th place so 8th overall for the day. My papa said i can do better so we will practice my speed this week and we may go to JMP this weekend. If we race i will update again with results.http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=1c779c4a-3883-469a-b61b-bdd032b75080Tue, 04 Nov 2008 13:36:54 GMTRound 4 Southern MXWell we made it thru round 4 with 2 good finishes Josh placed 2nd overall in the 65cc 7 to 11 open class and 3rd overall in the 65cc 7 to 9 class. In the open class they ran with the 85 D and super mini classes, so there was plenty of bikes out there and he did great and actually beat an 85 the first moto. The 2nd moto that same rider was in front but j stayed just behind him. In his normal class it was some good racing out of the gate and some side by side for a bit then everyone spread out, but josh still likes that big jump at Tuskarora track. this jump is really good for going far and high, now if i can just convence him he can do that on all jumps he will be # 1 evreytime!! Josh is doing great and is 6 points out fo first but 2 points infront of the thrid place guy, so with 3 races left anything can happen we are just hoping to stay up on 2 wheels and get good finishes and everything will work out. there is couple week break so we will work on his starts and find other tracks here locally that have some racing untill we resume our sanction. Thanks to his sponsors who help make it happen.
Papahttp://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=7ce1f575-6285-4f47-96d5-fa46fd363c64Mon, 20 Oct 2008 18:02:08 GMTBig weekend round 3 SMXwell i had a big weekend! We started out sat early am (like 7am) going to my first motorcross school located at Cow Branch here in NC, it was instructed by Jay Brown #269 and samantha ( i forget her last name). I really liked the school we learned about 3 diffeferent kinds of corner technics, jumping was just an hr, then off to the quick turn a fast s turn once to left then right away to the right?, anyway then we did starts. at the end of day we had a 3 lap eval afterwards the instructors came and had some advise for us, then we did a 5lap eval and more last min advise. My papa said i did great and improved greatly. i liked the one on one instruction the instructor actually stopped me and talked just to me.

sunday i went to round 3 for our SMX fall series and i raced my normal class and the open again. this time i wasn't so tired at the end. we had 10 riders for the 7 to 9 class and my class seemed to help my corner speed felt great and i placed 5th behind the guys that normally get me and in front of the guys that are on my tail but not this time! i was comfortably ahead of them! my starts still need work my papa said but we will be working on that. i am 2nd for points but only 10 points sperate the top 3 of us so who knows what will happen next, i do know i want first! Thanks to my sponsors for the cool parts and making me look great on the track. oh yea i place 3rd in the open class out of 4 but i wanst last!
http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=f1550182-2e8a-484c-86b1-45f5aca2de90Mon, 06 Oct 2008 19:39:51 GMTround 2 what a daywell round 2 of our southern motorcross is done and WOW what a day i had! My papa put on some killer new wheels they are blue rims with orange hubs and awsome looking. today i raced 2 classes i raced my normal class 65cc 7 to 9 and a 65cc open with 85cc D at same time i am totaly wiped out that is why my papa i writing this. My first round in my class i started well then at about 25 feet after start line i got tangled up with the guy beside me and we wnet down hard (VERY) and both bikes ended up on me! i couldnt move he got up and left i was scared and sore but the emt looked me over and i wanted to finish so i went chasing! I caught the last 2 guys and finished 6th out of 10 (2 others didnt finish at all) the next race i finished a solid 4th with no mistakes and no one got close to me, my papa says i deserved that arm pump at finish line. in the open class i just rode hard the first race went good but the second race a 85 rider came close and tried to pass so i hit it hard and we went over a big jump wheel to wheel but my front hit his back and i ddint come out so good. i got up and finished the entire race i now have tire marks on both sides of my chest! Nana says " chicks dig scars" my papa has a bunch! I had a good day but hard cant wait until next weekend!! Thanks to everyone.http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=9f474286-ff38-406f-8c86-f46990cba496Mon, 08 Sep 2008 19:47:15 GMTFirst Night race.well i just raced my first ever night race and what a race i had! My papa and nana bought an RV for us to go to races with so we all can be comfortable and that was cool by itself. I never rode in an RV before. my first practice went well and did ok but my first race was great, well kinda. I was in 4 th place in the first corner with 10 riders and was on the gas hard!! so when half track came i got into a corner kinda high and spun out and everyone passed but i caught up before the finish and passed the last 2 guys!!
The next race i was in differnt lane for start and don't know what the heck happend but i came off the start and went upside down. the bike just went up and over my papa was right behind me and we got the bike back straight and i got going again, so i was way behind this time. i didnt give up i again caught the last place guy and passed him!! i raced really well but had some growing pains and bad luck but papa and nana said that is racing.
we start the fall series in 2 weeks and i am ready!!http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=34bfae38-fad4-4a93-ab8c-3cc853f24cf1Sun, 24 Aug 2008 16:24:43 GMTSchool started!! well I had a great race last wee...School started!! well I had a great race last weekend clearing the 60footer table top still working ont he 85', I will get it!!http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?euid=eaa4d113-c3b9-4df9-9250-fa5e03d483b1Mon, 11 Aug 2008 19:53:28 GMTsummer break
well we have been on summer break here in NC, but i have been practicing in the back yard. I have ben practicing second gear starts so i can get off the line faster and from there i have a figure 8 course laid out so i can rip in the corners. I have a night race coming up on the 23 aug so maybe some picture from that race. I just got back form seeing my dad in Ny for 3 weeks it was fun and busy, but no riding. Thanks to everyone who looks at me and is sponsoring me!

Joshua #169
http://www.loopd.com/members/StoverRacing/blog.aspx?resourceId=18d8bd3d-2a4a-4a9c-945a-859746ef52a5Sun, 10 Aug 2008 16:16:44 GMT
