The ability to overcome great obstacles all while enjoying the journey along the way. We all have started some where and we have had to build up to the capacity that we can handle for our own personnel body type , goals, and motivation level. I love the age group race as it tends to be ordinary people becoming athletes.... I say encourage one person to join you and show them the way and along that journey you will find your self again if you have become lost or de-motivated and if not you may also make a great friend along your path..... Just a thought!!! Thanks to all that support the group and i am thankful to all my sponsors times are hard and all of us understand it.... good training!!!

Ron
http://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=6ea75d27-87b3-49f9-aa2e-814f7d5d0645Mon, 17 Aug 2009 08:26:41 GMTBack In The Saddle again!!
Well i had taking some time off the bike for the long rides and paid for it the other day. I rode my old training route for ironman and paid for it. The legs went to rubber about mile 40 on a hill climb, but i always ask myself " what would lance do?" and i was able to power through. I felt it the next day and had to take the day off of training. But i really love the pain that i feel today.... i will be back out there in a couple of days to get those legs back. To build a good base i will start early and train harder than last year. Planning and visualize the objectives will be a bigger part of my training and a better bike will give me more confidence in the race. Good Training....

Ron

http://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=bc9f9fa9-55f8-4e7c-9bc1-0800c5cef255Thu, 30 Jul 2009 08:48:12 GMTFeel The Pain Well as you know i have been switching up some of my training to avoid boredom and fatigue. Well recently i have added some weight lifting to give me some more strength, i have to say that my body is in shock and i believe that is a good thing. i have recently teamed up with a friend that is a body builder so we incorporate both of our principles to get the benefits from each others sports. not only has it been fun but also a nice change of pace. currently i am working on some business ventures in the sport and i am excited to be looking at a good long future in the sport. well that is all for now and in closing i would like to thank all of my sponsors as without you none of this would be possible. thanks again and good training.

ron
http://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=f2318f0a-63e9-467b-89f0-c34c51acb14cThu, 09 Jul 2009 14:19:34 GMTSo I raced the MCRD Freedom Run Well that was fun, i did my first 5k in years, recently i have taken some time away form the 70.3 distance to regain some focus, speed and to heal up. I have worked on speed in the pool and on the track which seems to be paying off. I also have been training friends to race some triathlons. With all of this my books are pretty full from day to day. So i decided to do a 5k for fun and to just lay it out a bit. Well i thought i would work 5 days straight prior to doing the race, like a idiot and got no sleep the night before, so the race starts at one and i got off at 7:30 am, went to the bank, checked in at 10:30 and then went to have a cup of coffee, after that showed up at the race start. The start was fun from about three quarters back, and the air horn sounds, slow fast slow fast for the first mile just to get through the pack. Well i opened up a bit and kept the leaders in sight, for about 2 miles and then the gap got larger, i started to slow and fall back a bit with some abdominal cramping, but i pulled it together for a 10th place in my age group. So it is working the speed work that is i finished with a 21:03 over all i felt good and got another run in later that day with a friend that i was training. So in the next month the focus will adjust a bit more toward the bike and some base hill climbs. so good training and stick with it if you want it!!!

Ron
http://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=34c67e97-3e0b-4ebe-b98c-28e56c937974Tue, 30 Jun 2009 10:33:43 GMTgetting back into the swing of things I have started getting back into the training again, i had taken some time off and i believed my body needed it along with my family. Things have started out great and i am training a friend of mine for his first international, i believe he will do fine. also i am thinking of doing some shorter races and focusing on some speed work. I am also working on a clothing line to release in the coming weeks so if you see me out at the races trying to sell some in these hard times stop by and say hi. that is it for now i will start blogging more in the coming weeks, i have been very busy lately and have lost some of my focus but i am now back in the game so good training!!!!!

ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=930852a8-ce7c-4da0-a63e-04c6ea18540bMon, 01 Jun 2009 16:38:59 GMTSorry I have not Posted!!! Well i have been training and doing alot of speed work lately, My legs feel really great and i believe that my hamstring is finally stating to get much better. As far as racing i am trying to get faster before i enter my next race which will be in July. We are gonna look at a shorter distance so that i can go all out and see what i am made of. Also i have been training some friends for their races coming up, this has been an interesting experience as i have never coached some one before but in the long run i believe that it has helped me also to understand what my coaches have been saying all the time. As athletes we tend to stay so focused on what we know and tend to not think outside of the box. That is it for now but i will be a little more proactive on the blogs!!!! Good Training.

Ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=310c4a07-783b-4311-a353-ec9c0fe664f5Thu, 14 May 2009 14:04:33 GMTBack To The Daily Grind.Well it has been 2 weeks since my last race and i have basically only hit the pool a few times for some video training and not much else. So, Yesterday i decided to take a run followed by a strength workout and boy am i sore today. But it does feel good, I love working out but understand that i need to step away from it, time and again as it takes its toll on our minds also. I never felt like i needed rest after a race but after altering my training routine to get my best times i now am coming to understand that rest is a very important key to this puzzle that i have undertaken. Thats it for now, we are deciding what race is next as we are trying to buy a house and finances are tight right now so the goal is to stay in shape and add some speed and help others train to meet their goals also.... So Good Training.....Ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=7985e481-82f4-42ad-ab0f-94eedb7e9962Thu, 16 Apr 2009 09:12:06 GMTback in the pool today!!i got back in the pool today and it felt good, of course thanks to H2O Audio for the care package, if you do not use these guy's you really should that 2 hours in the pool fly's by with music in my ears. Thanks Guys!!!! I will be back on the bike this week and start running again and i feel strong, i felt like i was 80 percent for the race and i was able to PR my time for California, Don't get me wrong I plan on doing better and better, I will choose my next race in the coming weeks and set up my plan, I feel like I am starting to understand what and how i need to train, The package is coming together so watch out!!!!! here i come.......Good training, Ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=75738df7-de11-4cc5-929f-1dbbd9083b7eThu, 09 Apr 2009 20:09:12 GMTPost race results.Well where do I start, lots of training and hard work come to a head at the Ford Oceanside Ironman 70.3, Thursday my training partner and I drove up to Oceanside to check the Expo out and check in for the race. I Swear the guy knows everybody in the sport, I met some very interesting people with him and for that I thankful. You can never have to many friends in my book. Everything went smoothly and i picked up my race wheels from Race Day Wheels, by the way these guys are awesome times two!!! We had lunch with the announcer ( It was his Bday) so it was on my partner and i got a free lunch, thanks again Robe!! I did some sponsor handouts of cards and perks because you have to represent as that is what we are here for right!!!, Then I headed home to finish some loan paper work for our house we wanna buy, and began to work on my bike. I worked till about 8 p.m. and still could not get the rear de-railer handled, so i could not sleep and had to be at B&L at ten a.m. sharp for some repair, These guys were on point and took care of the problem quickly (Thanks to B&L Bikes), After that it was finish packing and check into our place on Camp Pendelton, We rented a beach cottage for the weekend, not the most comfortable but great on the wallet and the location was less than five minutes from the start. Saturday at 4:30 a.m. time to start your day in the 46 degree weather, it was so cold, the water temp was 58.6 degrees so it was cold on top of cold. I had a cup of my Christopher Bean Coffee and got ready in the swim transition as my wife waited outside, i am sure she was cold too!! well the swim start went well and i started passing people pretty fast, but then i started to have a hard time seeing the swim markers as the swells were about two feet and the sun was coming up, i came out of the water in 36 minutes, Thanks to H2O Audio all the early swim training with the music helped a bunch...., T1 was long i got stuck in my wet suit and had a little trouble so needless to say we will be practicing more of that this year, The bike course is one of the toughest in the Ironman series, major hills start at mile 30 and go through mile 48, after that you fight the wind the only problem i had on the bike was i thew my chain at mile 50, a couple of minutes and i was back in the game, at the end i had a 3:09 bike which was my best on this course, Thanks to Rudy Project and their aero helmet and Motor Tabs for keeping me hydrated the whole time, T2 was quick and it was off to the run, I had some stomach issues but worked through them, and started the run, The beach part was the hardest and sapped the energy right out of your legs, but hey you gotta keep going, At this point friends and family along with the spectators and course workers make all the difference in the world, Thank you to all of you, i finished my run in 2:03, for my PR of 6:00:23, i was shooting for a 5:50 and felt disappointed that i let everyone down. As i mulled over my results i remembered that i met alot of my goals and that my support group was the best, I am Thankful that i can compete in this sport and take what i have learned and apply it to the next race. It could always be worse and the pain goes away but when it is all said and done did you leave it on the course? I did and i can do better at the next race the training changes proved it and thank God for the Support of Family, Friends and the Sponsors!!!! Thank You to all of my sponsors without you none of this would be possible. good training.... ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=8ef9c3af-3c95-4404-9044-f007bfdd3b19Mon, 30 Mar 2009 19:06:45 GMT2 weeks leftWell 2 weeks left until race day, and i am doing 2 a days, pool at 5:30 am until 7 then i head to work, then at 2 i work out again, i have been dropping weight, but i wanna keep some on for power. especially for the hill climbs on the bike course. i have ridden the course every friday, i choose a section of it and ride it frontwards and backwards to get both aspects of the bike. once again i love the christopher bean coffee in the mornings i can get a half a cup down before my swim and then i drink the rest on my way to work. well i have to get ready to run a quick ten miles, good training. ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=9aaa66fc-c4e8-4436-b518-3ee98f1d4878Mon, 23 Mar 2009 13:39:44 GMT27 days till the gun goes offwell things are going well, nursing the leg and running less and biking more. I rode a section of the course friday , the hardest part i think of the course, the hills, it takes me one hour to do the 18 mile section with the hills , the down hills are fast, it was cold and windy. the wind was blowing you into the road, but i just kept cranking. the last 2 weeks i have rode this section of the course frontwards and then turn around and do it back wards, i do believe that it is hardy because the hills are longer in reverse. my training has picked up the past few weeks with early morning swims for which i thank Christopher Bean Coffee in the mornings and H2O Audio for the early morning tunes. Without the 2 of them the mornings would be really hard. Hydration with MotorTabs is working great and i am working on getting some aero parts for the bike. good training... ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=20eaeb27-712e-45cc-bc7e-31bf7fbb7a28Sat, 07 Mar 2009 19:24:48 GMT6 weeks leftWell there is only 6 weeks left before ironman california 70.3, i feel a little behind schedule but strong. the only factor is my hamstring from my previous injury. i can not sleep at night because around 3 to 4 am i get a massive flex in my glut on the affected side . this will wake me up out of a dead sleep, does any one have any suggestions ? because this really sucks!!!!, i have made small adjustments to get a nap in during the day, but whenever i am dormant for a period of time it happens. i think i will try yoga and see if that helps out, Now that i am off for supercross until april i can focus on my training. Traveling every weekend was killing my training program. Friday we rode part of the course and i feel good on the bike , i am maintaining a higher speed than i did during the race so that feels good . run distances are good and the speed is a little of due to i can not kick like i normally do but we are making adjustments for that also. Lost some sponsors and got some new ones working on a new clothing sponsorship we will see how that goes in a few weeks. the weather is changing in southern california so we will get some more time to train out doors her soon. well thats it gotta hit the pool this a.m. good training ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=387cf599-3d57-49e8-a240-96854c1f73a5Mon, 23 Feb 2009 06:30:15 GMTRain Rain Go Away!!Well San Diego has been very wet and cold this past week, it looks like we get a break for a couple of days and it gets cold and wet again. Sunday i went for a long run in the cold and the rain, did the same on friday because i missed my long ride. I gotta tell you the Christopher Bean coffee gets my mornings started, and i love the stuff i prefer the jamacia blend, and my motor tabs keeps me hydrated during my long training days. Just a hint had a scoop of carbo-pro for a little extra energy and it taste the same. Ran on Friday with my training partner he has gotten faster from last year, the only problem is he only has 2 gears fast and walk but we are working on that. Hope to get a long ride and swim in this week, 2 a days start feb 15th so i love those workouts they are just time consuming but i always feel my best during that time and i seem to get more rest because i force my self to. well thats all for now and good training!!! ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=28049c68-0c55-43c3-8a74-5bc7b0a8f560Tue, 10 Feb 2009 09:13:29 GMTThings Coming together I think??Well I feel better and better every day, the distances are getting longer and not as hard. That is how it is supposed to work right?. I have been learning some new tricks along the way. With that in mind nothing replaces training day in and day out as we all know. The Hamstring is feeling better every day that i get out there and work it. the runs have been over an hour and the bikes at the 40 mile range and it feels great to be able to go those distances again. I just wan thanks everyone that has stayed with me in these trying times and i look forward to california in april. to all good training... ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=930bb72e-970a-46c2-9f9f-cd12ddaf9b71Mon, 02 Feb 2009 19:54:03 GMTThings Coming together!!!Wow how time off helps and heals, the human body is an amazing thing. The hamstring is coming together without the push of me. What i mean is finally it is starting to feel normal and the strength is coming back. I have cut back on speed for a while and concentrated my efforts on quality and distance. I feel like each week we go farther and the bike feels better and better, even when a better rider crushes me and puts me back in my place . Next week we add more to the schedule and i hope that the progress is not wasted. Sometimes when we stop and listen we can actually get more out of it. So to everyone that has helped me with my workouts thanks i appreciated your help. I look forward to my bike workouts where before i dreaded them, so progress is taking me forward. I hope everyone's training is going well and look forward to seeing you on the roads doing what we do. good training!!!! ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=88a7f20c-5541-48f3-b3da-e65aa2313d02Mon, 19 Jan 2009 08:05:37 GMTWelcome back Campers!!!The new year is here and the training starts to get serious in order for the first race to be a good one and to test all the cool stuff you got for christmas (hopefully). Well i have to decided to attack my weakness on the Tri and it is my bike, man i really suck on it so these recent weeks we have added the hill climb workout routine once a week in order to build strength and confidence. well i have to say i went out today and had a great ride on my hilly course and thought about going longer but don't wanna push it too early and mess my self up with another injury. The big hills don't feel has hard to do and i am doing them faster, i really wish that i could have afforded a trainer this year but no luck so it will be just me and my friend making it happen. The only down fall of the ride today was the stupid fall over after not being able to get out of my pedal on the bike, but hey i will take it . the intersection was a big one and i'm sure that i made everyones day with my comedy routine, at least thats the way i see it so it does not bother me . well i am looking forward this year and plan on doing alot more bike work to better my time for california 70.3. i would like to thank my sponsors for the vote of confidence this year as i know that it is tough for everyone financially. so good luck and good training and remember " once you've been on the bottom , you can only stay there or do something to move up!" As all of us know we watch what we eat most of the time but i let loose i had three pieces of chicken and a bunch of potatoes along with some veggies. i feel like i cheated or something but it is the off season right? well i have marked the calendar and in a week and a half the work starts again, i have been working out but some what at random. so good holidays and it is ok to cheat every once in a while as we are only human......good training ronhttp://www.loopd.com/members/mxmedic/blog.aspx?resourceId=42f81933-9c63-4678-9b0a-5152f0900220Thu, 11 Dec 2008 10:26:48 GMTrough two weeksWell it has been a rough 2 weeks , our dog died and we miss him he was a great friend and companion, i really did not feel like training and it was hard to keep a good attitude about anything, I told my wife that it would get better with time as she took it really hard. All that know us, know how much we love our dogs they are our children and his sudden passing was very hard. I have not been training all week, i felt depressed and it was hard to motivate myself. I received a call from a friend and we talked for a while, and he was having a hard time motivating himself also, we motivate each other and push each other when we train together, so we both decided to run today, i ran at race pace and just kept running and running, three hours later i had to stop. i must have had some pent up frustration and i am exhausted right now. but if i can give some advice ........ be thankful what you have, who you now and all that you come in contact with because you never know when it will be gone and leave the empty hole that we have to fill. i wish every one the best this holiday and hope you can get some time in for your self because we all need it. Also i would thank my new sponsor Ice Toolz for the opportunity to represent.
