Mountain Cycle Shockwave 8.0 2008

Our first New dream bike is finally arrived. The Shockwave 8.0. Yes the Chassis has been touched up a bit from the older model, new graphics, lighter frame weight, and a little less travel.The ride of the Shockwave is very fun, single pivot with a multi link, huge monoque design integrated with a moto inspired design. At high speeds the feel you get is very much about control, it is a great high speed ride. The rear end of the Shockwave is super stiff and when making those off camber landings the bikes just eats it right up. No worries. Having a bit less travel than previous years makes the Shockwave a much more credible freeride bike than before. I can't wait to get it and go explore a long all day freeride myself... I am proud to announce that NYC Freeride will be a major sponsor of the Diablo Freeride Park this year. The Owner Andy Grossi will be making custom logo'd and colored Glory Hole Pedals for the awards at the races this year , and for collectors to purchaseinside the store at Diablo.

NYC Freeride has also moved into a new warehouse, and they have there own machines to produce and create the East Coast finest high quality and hardcore products out there. I am really proud to be a part of this crew for so long and now see it starting to flourish. I've been riding the pedals for almost a Decade now.... And the original ones are still super strong....

the mushy month

March is to me the mushy month. It is when everyone has there new bikes and gear. My cell phone rings off the hook, about , riding and trails etc... But the ground is still soggy wet. Man is it torture for us on the East..... I can't wait to get out to rip HEADCASE again. It was in great condition before we got the Big Chill....
If any of you have a funny story already about the mush month pass it on.

bike back country face lift

I am heading up to Parsonfield, Maine to givea face lift to the mtn bike camp that is there. Cliff krolick and I are going to finish the guest house this week, and have it ready for spring. Putting the finishing touches on the plumbing and electrical stuff. The camp is a great place for all level of riders , from xc to the huckmeister.... There are grat flowy singletrack trails and a slew of freeride runs to ride . It is a nice retreat from the city, and has all the amenities you need. Take a visit some time. the Microbrew festival, or the Lobster bake are two of the best events this summer.

Mountain Cycle has been purchased by a crew from France. The website is back up and looks great. They are touching up the slopestyle bike and should have it out soon. Looks like our visions are going to come to light finally. Be on the lookout for a new look, and a great vibe coming from the new owners. it should'nt be too long before the info is on the pages of every mag around......

East Coast Gravity Series

I just got back from yet another trip to the pACIFIC nORTH WEST. mY YOUNGEST broother Paul , myse3lf, and a few of the go huck yourself crew. Steve, and travis took to the streets and got our big bikes dirty for a week. We rode in Washington first at some grat spots like softies, and the flow park there as well. trid out a few microbeers. We got stve`s Super pimp cadillac tricked out with a trailerhitch mount rack for the big bikes and headed up to whistler for the last weekend of riding there for the season. the weather was grat, it even snowed a bit on th upper moutnain trails like freight train, original sin to name a few. the new trail called side track was open and we made many runs down that for sure. super tech jumps with dh style trail riding.... after riding was over we spent alot fo time at the glc, and the longhorn tasting those kokanees..... we got back a few days ago. we`ve been working on our own trails here and they are getting dialed ... the trip to the west was grat and I wish to go back asap! we spent a few mor days in seattle and rode exit 27 trails which were totally unreal. Madd props to the trail builders there. lots of courage and dedication went into this run and it seems ther hobbies of trail building are never done.... softies was great again. 100% legal freeride trail in Manhattan NYC

On Sept 15th 26 local NYC riders and myself. turned out a really fun freeride trail in Manhattan for the Parks Dept. IMBA approved,100%legalfreeride trail loaded with technical lines rock drops and jumpsis open for your riding pleasure. This trail is not for a beginner level rider and there will be trail markers to explain that when it get it`s official opening A very special thanks goes to Mike Vitti for taking the time and having the vision to get trail riding approved in the New York Metro area. This is a first of it`s kind, and there are plenty of other spots to ride, BUT these places chosen will be the voice for the riders who want to explore the hardcore way of riding from a beginner level to advanced. All the trail heads will be marked according to there level, and Mike has been making a map which will be online soon showing the trails and there locations. The local riding clubs who joined in so far and helped with these efforts are NYC-MTB.ORG, BROOKLYNBIKERIDERS.COM,CLIMB-ONLINE.ORG, there are many others who have helped volunteer there time from the tri-state and a big thanks to you. I know i didint mention the location of this new spot because I wanted to fill you in on all the nooks and crannies that will be there first...start salivating.... there will be in this park in the near future : pump track bmx jump park (small but, sure) concrete skatepark freeriding trails baseball fields swimming pool sitting areas The park is called Fort George Hill located right off Dyckman st in Uptown New York City here are the directions. By foot/bike you can take the 1 train uptown to dyckman get off and walk a few blocks to the bottom of the park which will be loacted right dead in front of you, the sitting area is to the left and the variety of fun things to do are all on top of the hill. follow the paths or take the sidewalk to the top. By car you can take from the south the George Washington Bridge to the Henry hudson Dr. North to Dyckman, get off and go right and the park is nearby on the right. From the North you can take 87 south to the Henry hudson Dr. south , get off at Dyckman , get off and go left and the park is about 10 minutes away on the right hand side. The area is filled with lots of culture and also Tread Bike shop is located on Dyckman in case you have mechanical difficulties or just want to stop in and say hi. pacific northwest roadtrip

my brother and I are going to the pacific north west and onto vancouver and resuming more riding at whistler and spots nearby for the first weeks of October. Both of us are very excited and wanted to let you all know... we`ll be meeting up with the gohuckyourself crew in seattle and touring that area, then hitting up north vancouver with some of the locals there, then onto whistler for the end of the season .... get in touch and hopefully we`ll see you somewhere on theroad or at whistler....

Going Away Jam at CT July 16th

There will be a Going away Jam For Davey the head of all the ruckus in the south east of CT. It will be held at the highbridge trails. And it is an all day affair. I love these trails I will sure to put extra pedal strokes in for Davey when he finally leaves .... At elast he`s not moving too far away..... Ohio. So now he can go ride Ray`s fun fun fun!

I was on my way to Snowshoe, WV to teach freeriding at Mad March Racing camp. Along the way I stopped in Frederick ,MD. I have a bunch of friends there who ride and of course the Watershed is there as well. I was also meeting one of the Students there Dave Kalt. He spoke about this New Bike Shop called FIX in Frederick, his hometown.. In the morning after riding the Shed. Mike Calfo from Racer`s Edge brought me to the FIX to meet the owners. I walked into the shop and was so surprised to see owners who actually took the time to make the home that they will be in for a long time quite stylish. Lots of fotos on the walls , nice colors, a great business card designas well as all ofthere signage. the employees were really nice. The entire families all ride and share the culture we have all been blessed with as well. Mark, and Stacey are the owners and are avery nice people. They gave me a FIX shirt before I left and I must say it`s one of the most comfortable shirts I received all season so far. If for any reason you are in the area of Frederick stop in and visit Mark, and Stacey. Mark is been riding as long as me, doing lots of bmx , and freestyle even competing in the early days as well. Mountain Cycle Battery Slopestyle Frame

Mountain Cycle is Finally pushing forward with the production of the Battery slopestyle frame. this frame designed by Landon Holt is the best slopestyle frame I`ve ever ridden. He has really done quite a superb job making the angles work. with a pure mtn bike style 26" wheels. and the fact that is designed for jumping and abusive riding it is once again a pleasure to be able to ride mountain cycle bikes this season. My favorite Mountain Cycle frame is the Shockwave 9.5 , But I think the Battery will top it off as my favorite of all.... Crankworkx 2006

Gearing up for the best event of the year. Crankworkx. this year soem ofthe most talented riders will be going toe to toe in a bunch of events. I registered for slopestyle, a line downhill race, and the enduro downhill race which is top to bottom of Whistlers resort. tons of fun, and lots of great memories to be made. Some of the things I lok forward to doing. Is oncce again riding with my girl francesca down A-line and No Joke.... Hooking up with Lonnie from Magura and riding with him and breaking him nto Whistlers society. Of Course Riding and chillin with My Man.... Jay Hoots...... seeing everyone from Idun and all of the other crews outthere, and finally getting to compete in the slopestyle event it`s been a while....

Cannondale Jam

This past weekend, Adam Hauck and I met up with some of the engineers and marketing heads at cannondale. they showed us a great time and invited us to there secret jump spot in there area. They have a great working environment. Everyone was friendly and could ride really well. I look forward to gong back and riding and grillin` with them again. Madd Proops to Devin, John, Jeremy, Mike , davey and all the rest for dialin` in the jumps and riding them with us. I had a blast for real. The first dub was about 8 or 9 feet tall and about 25 feet across that lead to a huge hip jump which once I got it dialed I was loving it. I can`t wait to go back there and session this section again. The crew there is really fun to ride with and has alot of potential, and the jumps well the jumps are awesome. MACHINES ..... Jim D

diablo race #1 may 21

may 21st the diablo freeride park held there 1st race in there series. it was a wet and mucky race. the rock gardens were really checking everyones skill levels all day long. and when it was time for us pros to race it started to rain huh! man,.... I thought we were gonna get lucky and then the cloud just let out a piss..... the course again became a toss of the dice.... It was nice to see everyone come out and participate. My youngest brother Paul 18 yrs old. took first place in his first dh race ever. I am psyched to have him around and into our sport. he`s a highly decorated quad racer and he is really enjoying the dh riding. the entire race series was grat , everyone was having a great time. that`s why I keep coming to Diablo . Everyone is just so down to earth and wnating to go for a ride. By the time I leave diablo my hands are swollen . so many runs.... my favorite part of the mtn so far is breakout. that short rock section is super fun and very challenging. I can`t wait till the trail crew opens Alpine again. that slope is getting a serious facelift. the next race is the US OPEN at diablo again. last years event was amazing and there were riders from all over the world. i can`t wait till the weekend....

NYC Gets a freeride facelift for 2006

Here`s the scoop., I was asked to meet up with the National reps from IMBA in Manhattan to oversee the building of a entire new system of trails in NYC. The first freeride Legal sets of trails to hit up NYC ever. I was stoked to be on the crew. The first park we have dug in so far is Cunningham Park located in Queens, NY at 209th and Oceania ave. the Noth East section of the Park is where the freeride trail is for now, BUT! the netire Park , which is HUGE will host a bit of singletrack and more features too. the line I helped design and cut and dig, came out really nice for the low attendance of volunteers we had , but they all worked really hard and everyone gave there own bit of style to the trail as well. For fotos of the new construction go to. www.climbonline.org, or www.nycmtb.org . Ther is a pump track, a freeride run and a short sprinty x/c loop for now. Mike Vitti is planning more trail building weekends for the summer and there will be a few giveaways etc for the hard working volunteers. Everyone I met at the dig was great and somewhat knowledgable on trail building so we got alot done . The next Park to be dug in and remodeled will be Highbridge Park. This park is in Manhattan, and is going to be totally awesome. there will be two jump runs , and a pump track. it is has easy access off the subways and is right near a bike shop. www.treadbikeshop.com. it is near dykamn st. in upper Manhattan and will be where I will help put most of my efforts into the design of the jump runs and pump track. along with the locals of course.... what makes me so excited about this is, This is the next breeding grounds for the East coast talent, in Which right now is top notch I must say..... Watershed Trails Frederick MD

Hey Everyone, I went down to Frederick Maryland a few days ago. There are some great trails , and great talented riders there as well. Much Kudos goes out to Dave, Angie, Mike and Hillary, Trevor, steve and the rest . The Watershed is located roughly about 4 hours from my home in PA south of me, It is loaded withlarge glacier rocks on steep terrain., with many delicious drops hidden by the locals. There are at least 6 freeride trails that have wooden apparatus and drops, most of them are short runs but are really fun. The nasty tech trails were keeping me going ... I lover them the names were funny too. Pantyline, and Evolution were the best ones there. I enjoyed Pantyline myself. Steep chutes, with glacier rolling rocks to slow you up and raise the heart beats a bit. there were stream crossings and all. I totally hada grat time there and would reccomend you to try it out for yourself if your around the east and want to hit up something special.... for more info on the watershed. go to . www.sicusa.com ask for Hillary or Mike....

Mad March Racing

I was asked by Shaums March to coach for the summer as much as possible with his company Mad March Racing. I will be coaching June 21-24 at Snowshoe, West Virginia. Right along side Shaums and some other pros. We will be teaching, freeride,downhill, and setup disciplines throughout the course. Last year I was able to sit in and ride with a few of the camps. I really like to see others learn what I know and then go and explore it . It makes me feel so much more useful to our sport and culture.... The North western corner of the US is a great place and one of the most happening parts of our country for Biking. Red Bull Bike Battle @ Ray`s mtn bike park

I have been invited to compete in the Red Bull Bike Battle at Ray`s Mtn Bike Park In Cleveland Ohio.Feb 4 and 5th 2006 this event is going to be really big and take tremendous endurance from us riders. we`ll be paired up in two race events. speed trials and then a dual slalom style event around the funnest part of ray`s the pump track. After these two evetns which are back to back we will be judged on riding the ramps and park at Ray`s which is one of the coolest park setups in the East. thanks to Joe Prisel and Ray for doing a wicked job on the park the drive across Pennsylvania goes by quickly....
