I'll be going out to Carnegie a lot more this month hopefully before October to get some more practice in on the hills! I might be riding the KX125 too, for the 125 stock class instead of my KX100! I'm stoked & I know I can keep doing good like I have done the past 2 rounds, I'm very determined! Hopefully all goes well this month & for round 3! I'll keep you guys posted (:

http://www.loopd.com/members/lorigarcia/blog.aspx?resourceId=aba97401-e7db-4bff-9fef-c83ac09568c8Tue, 01 Sep 2009 18:36:02 GMT2009 UPDATES!!Hey everyone!

I am extremely sorry I haven't updated in so long! I've been so busy though. This years hillclimb season is going great!! Round 1 and 2 were so much fun and went really well. As of right now I am on a break for my season, the spring rounds ended in April and now we all have to wait until October for the fall rounds! I am stoked and cannot wait until round 3! So now that I have the time to update you all on how the 2009 hillclimb season and riding is going, I will (:

Okay, first we will start off with the beginning of the year before the start of the season. So January, February and the first week of March were all practice/training months to get ready for round 1 in March. I went out to Carnegie just about every weekend or at least every other weekend to get in as much practice in the hills as I possibly could! Those weekends of practice went great and they really helped out! I practiced my starts the most & then went on to all of the challenging hills to get me ready. I was definitely pumped for the season to start.

Now I'll get you all updated on round 1. So round 1 was a good weekend, we pulled into Carnegie around noon and unloaded everything and got everything all situated. After all of that, my brother and I geared up and went out and practiced for a bit, we ended up running into some of our friends so we practiced with them for a while and all got ready for race day. Saturday morning I got up early to get dressed and go pick up my wrist bands and little sticker that tells you what rider you'll be to go up the hill when it's your classes turn. The weather wasn't all that great, it was windy and cold, but we all still managed to do good. This year I moved up to Womens 101-125 B division now that I am 17. So my first run didn't go as well as I would have liked it to, I took the wrong line and ended up looping half way up the hill, my second run I picked a good line and ended up doing much better! I made it over the hill with a 19 second run, which is pretty good for being on a KX100, my time was just as fast as some of the girls on 250s! So I ended up bringing home 1st place that weekend!

Round 2, so this weekend went just as good as round 1, this round I ran both womens 101-125 B & boys 125 stock B. On Saturday I ran the womens class and ended up doing really well, even though my time was a second slower than my time at round one I still finished 1st place in my division & keeping my lead in the points series! Sunday is when I ran the boys 125 stock and let me tell you I was very nervous! Haha, usually I never get nervous but this time I was. Only because I was running the second toughest hill there & being the smallest bike on that hill was very surprising to many people there! I am like the 6th girl to ever run that hill! It was pretty exciting! I ended up getting 2nd place and making it more than half way up the shotgun hill (that's what that hill is called), I was a little bummed that I didn't make it over but I was still happy with how far I went. Haha..

So now I am getting ready for rounds 3 and 4! And let me tell you, I am more pumped than ever! I am very determined to get a faster time on the sportsman hill (which is the hill I run the womens class on) and to either get further on shotgun hill or even more determined to make it over, which I really hope I do! And I know I can, I just need to do it! So those are all the updates I have for you right now (:

Until then, stay safe, have fun & take care!

-Lori 291
http://www.loopd.com/members/lorigarcia/blog.aspx?resourceId=7a7ac060-3519-40d0-ac46-f1bd13e88193Wed, 05 Aug 2009 16:12:21 GMT2009 National Amateur Hillclimb Series ScheduleSkip's Promotions 2009 Califorina Amateur National Hillclimb Series

Round 1- March 14 & 15 2009

Round 2- April 25 & 26 2009

Round 3- October 3 & 4 2009

Round 4- November 2009
http://www.loopd.com/members/lorigarcia/blog.aspx?resourceId=2c4aa1a8-8d13-4d1c-a61a-77aca456ff31Fri, 30 Jan 2009 13:19:08 GMTGetting ready for 09 hillclimb series!Heyy Everyone!

Alright, so I just wanted to fill you all in on how I am doing and how my training for this years hillclimb series is going! So far 2009 seems to be a great year! I'm healthy and really focused on my training more than I have ever been, I am so stoked for this season, I can't wait to get it started! So as some of you might know I am the 2008 class champion of the girls 16 & under 51-100cc B class in the hillclimb series last year! But now that I am 17 I have to move up and race in the womens class, I have been riding pretty much every weekend out at Carnegie getting in as much practice in the hills as I can to be prepared for round 1 and the rest of the hillclimb events! I can tell this year is going to be a good year and hopefully all goes well and that I stay healthy and safe!

Also for this year I have picked up some new sponsors, Factory Backing & Damzl! I am so stoked to have them as a part of my racing support! I will do my very best to keep them proud of me and my racing just like I have done with my other 3 sponsors that have been with me the past few years! I just wanted to say thank you to my family, friends and sponsors: T.D.R, Steel Mx, EVS, Factory Backing & Damzl Fuel! Thank you guys so much for your support I appreciate it so, so much!

That's all for now! I'll keep you guys updated a lot this year! I had some great runs on the hill, it was a perfect hill! My weekend at round 3 was awesome! I had a great time hanging out with all my friends and had a great time riding/racing! I was sad to see the weekend end!

I didn't get to make it to round 4 of the hillclimb series because I had to go to Oregon that weekend for my dad's demolition derby. I was so bummed that I didn't get to go race, but the good news is that I go a call from one of my close friends after that weekend and he told me that I had still gotten the overall for the points series in my class! I was definitely happy about that! Though I didn't get my number one plate that same weekend I will still be recieving soon!

So now that hillclimb season is over for me, it's time for me to start practicing all winter for the 2009 hillclimb/mx racing season! Now that I'm going to be turning 17 next month I will be racing the womens class in '09, which I'm very excited about and a bit nervous, but I am sure that I am going to do well and I cannot wait for the new season to come!

Also, big thanks to all my sponsors: Team Dirty Girls, EVS, Steel Mx! You guys are awesome!
I'm aslo looking foward to racing with my new sponsor for '09 Factory Backing!
Thank you all for supporting me in my racing!

Until then, I'll keep you all posted on how I am doing with the training!
Have fun & ride safe!

-Lori Garcia 291http://www.loopd.com/members/lorigarcia/blog.aspx?resourceId=01dfb69b-287a-4f4a-8a07-99c3b6ee123fThu, 13 Nov 2008 14:00:00 GMTUPDATES! It went great! It was a nice day, perfect weather and everything! I was pumped to go for my runs, I was very confident and I was sure that I was going to do good in my class! I had good starts and I rode smart, my first run I got stuck in a tough section of the hill & I wasn't able to get any good traction so I lost a good run at 285ft. My second run I got a great start and I was climbing the hill perfectly, unfortunately once I got about 20ft from being over the top I got cross-rutted and looped out at 361ft. I still ended up taking 1st place overall, which I was very stoked about and I had an awesome time hanging out with all my friends!

As of right now, I am in the lead for points in my division in the hillclimbs series- Girls 16 & under "B". I had a blast over there! We got there Thursday afternoon! I rode with my friends Kelly and Kasey Slick, then hung out with them and my friends Matt and brandon! Friday and Saturday I practiced and got ready for Sunday! The competition hills all had jumps at the start, they gave us more of a challenge! I ended up taking 1st overall in the girls 16 & under 85cc "B" division! I am stoked! I didn't make it over the hill but I got to 399 my first run and 303 my second run! I did the best I could and gave it my all, I just wasn't able to make it over the top this time. I will be ready for May Round 2! I'm feeling very confident about this year! I'm glad I took first! I will keep filling you guys in on how everything is going until the actual hillclimb, then I will let you all know how I end up doing! I am also going to get a check up on my knee sometime this week because it's been bothing me a lot lately and so I want to get it checked to make sure everything is ok with it, rather than just leaving it and something be wrong. Well I am now 16 and it will be my last year competing in the Girls 16 & under 85cc Hillclimb class. Then I have to move up to the womens class, and I will most likely be running the 125 division in the womens, if not then possibly a 250. But for this year since it will be my last year in the girls 16 & under I am hoping to have a good finish every hillclimb and hopefully take home the number one plate at the end of the series. I have been going out to carnegie to practice a lot for the hillclimb season coming up! I am feeling very very confident about this year! The first hillclimb of the year is April 6! I feel great on my bikes and I hope I do great! I am also hoping that I get to start racing some more local motocross races again! its been a year since I've done so and I miss it so I want to get back out there on the tracks! There is also a possibility that I might start racing harescrambles soon too, but I won't know for sure until March for both local mx and the harescrambles. For now I just know the hillclimbs are my main focus! I am very excited for this year and I can't wait for the competions to start!

I also want to thank my sponsor Team Dirty Girls racing for all of their support! I have been with Dirty Girls for 3 years now! And I also want to thank my new sponsor Steel Mx for supporting me for 2008 and hopefully more years to come! Thanks Dirty Girls and Steel Mx!

-Lori Garcia #291

Take care and ride safe everyone!
http://www.loopd.com/members/lorigarcia/blog.aspx?resourceId=ea74d2ba-0fe4-4c9f-9c4a-da43e31d3388Sun, 06 Jan 2008 11:34:36 GMT2007 Amateur National Hillclimb Series Overall
Well, 2007 wasn't exactly my year. I did good, but not as good as I wanted to. Anyway, the last and final round of the 4 round amateur national hillclimb series is Oct 20-21. I really hope that I do good this time. I am in second for points right now and I want to win the championship soo bad. The only problem is, I have to get out there and practice before, which I will make sure happens. I have to get good starts and good runs to get more points than the girl that is ahead of me in points, which she also happens to be my teammate for team dirty girls and she is one of my good friends. I want to win so bad and I hope I do good. I will fill you all in once it comes! Take Care! I'm excited and can't wait. I'm just a little nervous about it because I haven't rode any hills since the last hillclimb, all because of my knee injury. Oh well. So these next 2 weeks before the hillclimb I want to practice my starts that way I have them down and I am confident about how I will take off on my runs at the hillclimb. My plans for the week of the hillclimb are to get my gear bag and bike all ready. Then I think we are going to either head up there possibly friday once my brother and I get out of school, or head up there early Saturday morning. I'm hoping I can get some practice in and go ride some hills on Saturday, if not i have to wait until Sunday morning. I know I have to ability to make it over the hill I just need to come and do it. I'm going to give it my all and see how everything goes that day! I will be sure to inform you guys on how everything goes once I get back home! Sign up, get checked in & wait for your class to run! I can't wait. My knee is better I don't feel anymore pain, but my Dad still wants me to take it easy. Well, I will still be running in the girls 16 & under "B" division. No other classes decided to run, yet. I would like to run one of the boys classes but I don't know which one. We'll see. Well I can't wait to get back on my bike. I know, I'm sorry I'm posting it a month later but, I've been busy. Well, It went pretty well the first run. I got to 385ft. The hill is about 500ft. The second run I got a bad start. When I went to shift I accidentaly went to neutral instead of second so when I tried shifing again to second I looped out and when my bike went away from me I hurt my knee. I went down and I was unable to get up. It felt as if there was soo much pressure holding my left leg from moving. I had to get taken down the hill on a stretcher. Turns out I sprained my meniscus in my knee and I had to be on crutches and wear a knee brace for 4 weeks. Doesn't seem long but when you're in my situation it's 4 weeks that seem like they will never end. Well, I'm not completely healed up but I'm getting there. I would say I'm about 95% better right now. By the way I ended up getting 2nd place! So hopefully in a few weeks I'll be 100%. Well, there's your update on me. Take care & ride safe!

-Lori #291

p.s.

I'll let you all know when my knee is 100% better and how my first time back on my bike goes.
http://www.loopd.com/members/lorigarcia/blog.aspx?resourceId=c06c6e7d-8cad-411c-b1a8-e78b3021a0a1Wed, 27 Jun 2007 12:17:04 GMTMay 13th Hillclimb round 2
Hey everyone.

So my next hillclimb is coming up on May 13th and I'm pretty much excited about it.
