I took a little digger at the National Mountain Bike Championships during the Friday DH practice. It was a fight over the bars in the rock garden. Had to get ride down the mountain … hospital… Saturday I did my race not felling so hot and ended up 3^rd. Now I’m in a arm cast for while so no riding, lax … even xbox… it’s a nada fun.

School Is Out

Just finished up an awesome spring Lacrosse season and I’m out for summer. So what’s on the agenda for the summer? Back to the pool in the mornings to workout with the local swim team, summer lacrosse league on Mondays nights, on the weekend I’ll be riding the lifts some free riding and some DH. In between all this stuff I play xbox live and ride at cornerstone. It a busy life but every kid gots to do it. Racing we will see were thinking Crankworks and the USAC Nationals…

The Dinky Dude qualified for the upcoming USAC NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS to be held at Sol Vista ski resort in Granby, Colorado July 16-19th. This event should prove to be one of the best events for Marcus yet. This is the mountain that the Dinky Dude trains on and the one he calls home. This race is unusual because it will have an age class that meets his age (10 Junior) so this means he will not be required to race up with kids 14 years old like most races. When the snow melts and the lifts start hauling bikes he will begin DH training. These days Marcus is playing Lacrosse and dirt jumping staying in great shape for the season.

Marcus @ age nine took 3^rd Overall in the Mountain States Cup Gravity Series in the 12 and Under Jr Class. This was the first year the Dinky Dude put his leg over a DH rig and he’s hooked. This Series started off at Darners Ranch for the Chalk Creek Stampede where Marcus ran MX for a 3^rd and DS for a 4^th. Then it was off to Crested Butte for his first Downhill race. This race was all about just getting down the mountain with out a yard sale this race he took 6^th. Next stop Snowmass Colorado for Blast the Mass. In the 4X: 14 & Under Class he took 6^th. In his second DH race he improved his skills to make it through “Hells Kitchen” to make the podium for fourth place. Then it was off to Sol Vista for the Sol Survivor for some DS and DH. MJ made friends with hay bale to nock him out of the final round of DS but he had a better day Sunday on the DH course placing fifth. Then to finish the season off with a big bang; Sol Squared was the venue for the Mountain States Cup Gravity Finals. This G3 event consisted of three separate Downhill courses. Marcus was feeling right at home this weekend with few races under his belt. MJ made to the Podium for Second Place on Saturday, Second Place for Sunday and 3^rd for Monday, taking second overall in the Sol Squared G3 event. On Labor Day Marcus was called to the Mountain States Cup Gravity Series Podium to receive his big red “bling” Medal for Third over all in the 12 & Under Jr Class. Then Marcus’s Team Kozos was called to the podium for picture taking for there 3^rd place finish as a Jr team for the MSC Series. Marcus had a great season and can’t wait for next year but is also looking forward to his first year of football.

Marcus makes the podium on his 2^nd downhill race. July 13, 2008 Blast the Mass, Snowmass Colorado. The Mountain States Cup served up the EXPRESS PRO DH with high speed off cambers turns, waterfall shoots and the infamous “Hells Kitchen" tree run. With many riders pulling them selves out of the race Marcus choose to go ahead and give it his best. After all the dust cleared Marcus made the podium in 4^th place.

Marcus takes a first in his first Norba outing at the Yeti Spring Series. It was finally a race where the Dinky Dude did not get put in with the 12 year old and or the 14 year olds. And he took it through qualifying and all the motos to remain in the hunt to win the Yeti Spring Series.

Opening day in Docono, Colorado the moto sheets left Marcus age 9 in the 31-35 Cruiser Class. He jumped in with these guys three times his age. These guys have mortgages and car payments, Marcus has three bikes. The Dinky Dude hung with it for two rounds of moto’s, then made his big pass in the rhythm section in round three to qualify for the main. Marcus took third in the main to start his season on the podium with the big boys.

For the 2008 Mountain Bike season the Dinky Dude will be proudly riding for Kozo’s Mountain Bike Team on his Specialized GomHit and Hemi with Sinz components. Marcus will be hitting the Mountain States Cup Racing Series throughout Colorado along with some local ABA BMX thrown in there for training. Marcus at age nine will be one of youngest racers in the MSC Series and looks forward to the challenge of racing in the 12 and under class. Team Kozo's just picked up Marcus

Team Kozo’s just picked up Marcus & Wesley Medford for the 2008 Season. Team Kozo’s was crowned the #1 Team for 2007 in the Mountain States Cup Gravity Team Title. Marcus and Wesley are very excited to be on Kozo’s and look forward to all the training and support that comes with being on this awesome team. They will start in downhill and continue in Dual Slalom, 4x and BMX for the 08 Season.

Dinky Dude hangs with the 14x boys!

Marcus at 8 years old qualifies in the Jr Men 14 and under class at the NORBA National last weekend in Snowmass Colorado. After a couple of days of hard practice he had enough to hang with the big dogs. He did not make the main but he still had that big smile on his little face. Marcus has one more gravity event this year in Keystone Colorado where he will debut in his first Dual Slalom race. Wish him luck.

Blast The Mass

I had a great time at the Blast the Mass in Snowmass Colorado. We raced, rode the lifts and camped right on the Mountain. Snowmass was awesome with some killer trails that went on for ever. They also had a dirt jump park were I did a superman by accident. I landed a little hard on my seat but I pulled it off. Oh ya racing the track was soooo fast with some really big jumps it made you pucker if you know what I mean. I raced the 12 and under class and made it two rounds. It’s a lot harder racing kids that are four years older. A big high five goes out to my Dad and all my sponsors that helped with build of my Mountain Rig. Joey with Average Joes, Sinz: wheels, cranks, headset, stem, and Maxxis for the Holly Rollers. Ya Buddy!!!!!

Dinky Dude goes Expert!

Dinky Dude goes expert and takes his first expert win in the same day. Yesterday at the Pikes Peak Indoor Marcus won his final race as intermediate. This race was a truly a battle with three leader changes all the way into the last turn. He has worked really hard over the past two seasons to execute these 24 wins. Taking the National #8 title was a big event this year but this accomplishment has more meaning considering how long it took. Marcus knew he would be racing the bigger, faster and meaner dogs, but he remained focused on bringing his skills to the next level. In the very next set of motos for the day the Dinky Dude took his first win as an expert. Marcus “Dinky Dude” Medford is having fun and looks forward to seeing you next week at the track

Yo!

Its been soooo cold last few weeks last night below 0 again. Today it only got up to 10. So me and and my bro have been inside all day drivin my parents nuts. My Dad has been hangin in the shop building my new cruiser its lime green with black forks, I cant wait to ride it. We have some indoor racn coming soon. Starting the 27th we get to race three saturdays in a row. I sure hope it warms up here soon.

Olympic Track!

Raced Pikes Peak Indoor on Saturday it was the bomb. This was the same track all the Olympic riders trained on last week. We had a great turn out and we were all happy just to get some riding in. You should have seen all of the Mountain bikers fighting it out on this tight track guys were flying out the turns almost every moto it was awesome. Sunday Denver Skate Park was open I was airin out of the 12’ bowl with my bud Josh.

As the season winds down Marcus keeps busy at the local level. Last weekend in Colorado Springs at the Pike Peak Indoor Marcus nailed it Saturday with another perfect day taking three First Place finishes. Marcus has been working hard this year to earn enough move win points to earn his expert ranking. He is at 23 and needs 25 to earn his move up. Will he make it this year? Stay posted!

As the season winds down for the Dinky Dude he looks back at the accomplishments and the challenges to come. Labor Day: At the NBL Grand's National Championship in Louisville, Kentucky was the event of events. Riders came from all around the planet for the big showdown. When all the dust cleared the Dinky Dude finished in the Top Ten in the nation with his #8 plate in hand. September 17th: Aurora, Colorado. At the NBL Colorado State Championship Little Marcus wins to take his third State Championship Title. Marcus worked hard throughout the season to come up with wins to come out on top again. November 4-5: Las Vegas Western Regional Championships. Marcus will be fighting to move to the top from his present #2 position.

Its been the year with lots of racing and hangin at the bike park. The Mile High Nationals will be here soon I can`t wait. That week we race under the lights two nights, have some fun at the David Herman Clinic and then some big racin on the weekend. Me and buddy Josh are building a new pit bike its awsome. We painted up the frame yesterday. My buddy Josh took a digger at the skate park Monday so we are hangin waiting for his cracked head to get better. Well gotta go headin to Pirates Cove to do some water slidin. See ya at the track. Marcus
