A new Year...
January 5th 2008 -

I went in this morning for a minor surgery on my back. It was a Discectomy on my L5S1 Disc. Dr. Michael Rauzzino removed part of my disc to stop chronic pain i have been having since around thanksgiving. The surgery went well and I got out of the hospital on Sunday after noon.

I spent the week at home resting with my wife and not doing much of anything. I am feeling better but the doc says it's be a few months before I can get back on my bike. I'm dying to start training for BMX and the mountain bike scene but I have to take it easy and not reinjure anything.

January 14th, 2008 -

I went back to work today only to figure out that I am just not ready physically to hit it again. I tried as hard as I could and made it thru the whole day. I went to HR and requested medical leave for the week. So I am at home resting and tomorrow wednesday at 11:30am I get the staples out of my back. overall so far this hasnt been really that unpleaseant of an experience. I wouldnt want to go thru it again, but the outlook is good so far. More after my dr. appointment tomorrow.
http://www.loopd.com/members/bpatterson/blog.aspx?resourceId=5bcd6e37-af23-4f25-8ecd-9b1920c6ab05Wed, 16 Jan 2008 00:06:26 GMT2007 Mile High Nationals - Dacono, Co
This was my First National in 22yrs. Ironically, the last national I raced at 22yrs earlier. Also Ironically the last National that I won when the race was held at the "National Western Complex.!" Here I am in 2007, A LONG TIME REMOVED SINCE THAT DAY!!! It would be a different story this time around. That's for sure.

Friday - Did not goto plan. I have been training hard prior to the season since back in November 2006. A few weeks earlier, a small crash at the snowmass 4x cost me 2 broken ribs. I have been nursing those for quite some time and hadn't been racing BMX at all. My son Jake and I attended the last few State Qual races at Countyline BMX in Littleton, Co, Epic BMX in Fort Collins, Co and Dacono BMx in Dacono, Co. Friday began good and I felt pretty good. I qualified in the second moto in 1st. and sat out until the main. My left foot began to hurt and increased until the main. I raced but ended up 3rd out of 4. Not Good. That was that.

Saturday - Started off a horrible day because my Left foot hurt so bad I couldnt hardly even walk. You see, last season racing mbt 4x I managed to case a jump and slam my heal in to the face of a jump and break the calcaneous (heal) since then, I have had horrible pain in that foot on occasion usually after a day of using clip pedals. You can't keep up these days without clip pedals. and I had paid my money and was determined to race. I raced alright, but did not manage to qualify. Out of the gate, pressing down on the second pedal stroke I had no strength. I couldn't keep up.

Sunday - Got no better. Sore foot, no strength couldn't keep up. No Qualify on Sunday either. But I remembered what it was like to race a National event. I love BMX. I LOVE IT! It's so much fun to be a part of such a wonderful sport. I'm looking forward to next year. I'll be a much better rider in 2008 and alot more in shape.
http://www.loopd.com/members/bpatterson/blog.aspx?resourceId=791621ac-2690-472d-8adb-bf50daf0633eTue, 21 Aug 2007 15:07:53 GMTBMX is back
I've begun racing BMX again. It's so much fun! I remember why I loved it so much.

The MTB season is on the horizon as well. I'm stoked for the season to begin!
http://www.loopd.com/members/bpatterson/blog.aspx?resourceId=9c164614-112e-4995-913c-9239a7f91f90Wed, 11 Apr 2007 12:30:18 GMT
