After playing an earlier 50 minute game, we ended with a 0-0 tie against Temecula in the Championship Game. Which means...four five minute quarters of sudden death. After each quarter, two players are removed until, in quarter four, there are only five players remaining. Yup. Went that far. After 80 minutes, it was still a 0-0 tie. Time for a shootout. We win that, 3-2! I got the first goal of the shootout, too.http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?euid=737c798e-6f99-449b-8124-cad3af5aeeddSun, 06 Dec 2009 20:47:29 GMTIm in Temecula for Comisioner's Cup soccer and we ...Im in Temecula for Comisioner's Cup soccer and we won our first two games 2-0. I've got a looong day ahead of me on Saturday. I'm playing soccer in the desert in Victorville at 9 which means I have to wake up at 6:30. After soccer, my sister plays at the same place at one. Then home to pack and off to LAs airport for a trip to surf in Costa Rica. We leave at 1 in the morning and land at 9;30 on Sunday morning. I am going to be so tired but surfing, monkeys, zip lines and training for the Mt Sac invitational when I get back will all be so much fun. Slopestyle, skiercross and halfpipe were awesome. I won all three events but I had more fun meeting new friends like Abby ( I already knew her but we became reeeeaaaallllly good friends) Summer from Tamarack, Maddie from NY ( her mom runs Liberty skis, check them out), Caroline from NY and Audrey from Mammoth. They are sooo nice and I can't wait to see them next year at Nationals. Tomorrow, I'm going to go ski with some long lost cousins at Keystone and then one more day at Copper. Then I'll fly back to California and watch my sister race at Squaw. I wish the season wasn't ending.http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=3d89cddd-efa2-495e-91e2-85112e147805Tue, 01 Apr 2008 20:07:41 GMTBusy Week and Great ResultsWhat a weekend. I had j5 Far West Championships on thursday and fri and Sat. They were alot of fun. I didn't win but I got two podiums at 3rd place and a fourth place in slalom. The on satirday after my super g race, I drove to Sacramento to fly to denver to go to USASA Natioonals. I was bummed that I couldn't get my trophy but I saw Stacey Cook (she's a USA Ski team racer who's reeeeeaaaaallllly good). She got it fo me and gave it to my mom. We finally got to Copper mountain at 3 iin themorning and I had to wake up at 6:30. I saw Abby and met Summer in person. She's a good skier like Abby and me. We did our two halfpipe runs and were done beofre breakfast. I won and Abby got third. I thought Summer should have got a medal to because she had some great turns in the air. Later we went skiing with my dad and Abbys dad but now I just want to sleep. Tomorrow is Slopestyle!http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=df87f1fc-548a-409c-a840-364df86698afSun, 30 Mar 2008 20:11:49 GMTNational InvitesI got my invites to Nationals today for halfpipe, skiercross and slopestyle. I can't wait. It's going to be so much fun. I'm glad that I'll know some people there this year like Abby and I'm looking forward to meeting Summer. I saw that she signed up and is ready to go. It's going to be a busy two weeks over spring but I'm going to love every minute of it.http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=3bb18dbc-eb61-40a7-b3fd-f14ef1f1b5e1Tue, 11 Mar 2008 16:39:46 GMT1st Big PodiumToday, I got my first podium in a big race. There were over 60 girls and I got 3rd. Yesterday, I was charging on my second run and fell half way down. I was really pushing for second but it didn't happen. Today, I was kind of nervous for my first run. I didn't want to fall again and I kind of held back a little. I was eighth after the first run but I tried my hardest, hit a lot of gates and had a great second run. My friend Steph came in second and my other friend Evan came in second for the J5 boys. The Snow Summit Race team had a great day and showed the Mammoth and Tahoe kids that Southern Cal kids can compete too!http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=49d09ab0-3095-486b-9b0d-5f4bbf6b1f8fSun, 09 Mar 2008 21:36:36 GMTBear SkiingI had a great day today. I started off with a few runs through the boardercross course and then competed (although no one was in my division this time). Still, by racing I qualified for Nationals and the practice races against the boys who are older than me went real well. Then, I went out with some boys from the race team in the park and superpipe. I was on my gs skis so I didn't want to do much more than go big on the jumps but guess what!? I don't know what I was thinking but I decided to throw a 360 in the pipe and I landed it! I can't wait to try it on twin tips.http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=7d581dde-57d9-4a43-b2cd-6be31fc13be7Mon, 18 Feb 2008 17:59:20 GMTSkiercross is Awesome! My sister raced Super G in Mammoth last weekend. She went over sixty mph and she still has three years before she can drive. I wanted to do something too so I signed up for skiercross. I was kind of nervous after watching the crashes on Xgames. I preran the course a few times the day before to get used to it. The course was scary at first. It started with a 20 ft high spine that you had to air and then it dropped into two steep banked turns. There were a whole bunch of rollers that you couldn't avoid air on and a step down and step up. There were a whole bunch of Mammoth race team girls who entered so I had a lot of good competition. One of them was a girl I met at Nationals last year named Abby. We hung out and became good friends. I can't wait to see her at Nationals this year. She raced really well and took second. I got first and learned that skiercross can be really fun. I still like regular racing better though.http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=a2eb5fe2-56da-466d-a18b-bd1bccc2efbdMon, 11 Feb 2008 21:49:31 GMTPOWDER DAY!!!After training was cancelled yesterday, I got to stay home and watch winter X. Way to go Daron. I knew he'd win. While I was watching, the rain changed to snow and it snowed all night! My da's a teacher and he got a call at five in the morning telling him school was cancelled. We got on the mountain a little after 8 and skied freshies until noon with a bunch my and my dad's friends. We usually don't get 18 inches in a storm here in Big Bear so this was really special.http://www.loopd.com/members/RachaelDesrochers/blog.aspx?resourceId=bde45298-1515-405b-8c7d-27a03af0d32dMon, 28 Jan 2008 16:34:53 GMT
