Hi, I am Kalani Miller and I am 20 years old. The ocean waters have always been in my blood. I was born and raised in San Clemente, California and am blessed to have the Pacific Ocean as my backyard. My mother’s ohana is from Hawaii and my father is a local California guy. Our family has always based our livelihood around the gifts from the ocean. Since birth I have had the pleasure to be involved with all kinds of water sports including surfing and outrigger canoe paddling. My entire family is involved in the surfing world. My dad has been all around the California coast chasing surf and passing his passion down to us, his children. My brother is my surfing hero, and in on his way to being Pro. My mom, although she doesn’t surf, she is just as much as a surfer as us! She is amazing! My sisters are always there, alongside me in the lineup—always having fun and pushing me in the lineup. They are my best friends. My family is my inspiration in life. Although I have spent much of my time on the beaches from Santa Barbara to San Diego, but I must say that I enjoy the warm waters of Hawaii. The colors of the ocean and the warmth of the waters are the most inviting to me. Traveling is a passion of mine. I love to go and see new cultures and meet new people. It is interesting to go to new places and see how different people really are. We can learn a lot from each other.
My sisters and I, Oleema (18) and Hana (15) have been with Roxy for about 8 years and I have had the privilege to be one to be one of the first Roxy Girls. I really enjoy doing the contests and going to events and meeting new people—to be surrounded by all the participants that love out lifestyle, our clothing and our attitude for aloha. Although competition is not my main focus, I enjoy being a spokesperson for the Roxy brand, because I can represent and share how alive, exciting and fun Roxy is to me.
Another thing that I love spending time with is art. I love all types of art, including photography, and painting in oil, acrylic, and watercolor. Blank canvas gives you the opportunity to paint your own picture, create your own colors from your dreams, and brings about peacefulness. Life is a canvas, so go and paint it!
Currently, I am studying at the University of California in Santa Barbara, which has always been a goal of mine. I have had such an amazing time exploring a new part of the coast. The water and weather is definitely colder, but it is beautiful. The air is always crisp, the sun always shining, and I live twenty feet away from the beach! My future plans are to continue my studies in college with the goal of working with Roxy on a higher business level. I want to travel the world and make new friends from foreign lands before settling down and raising an ohana of own.
Being a part of the Roxy Team has been such an amazing experience. I feel so blessed to be surrounded by such special and loving people. Being a part of the Roxy ohana and growing with them has made such a positive significant impact on my life. I am truly lucky |
