Having your hard work, results and networked influence in a particular activity rewarded by some form of Sponsorship makes you feel GREAT!
After reading through hundreds of applications on Sponsorhouse.com here’s a few tips.
- Know the product your applying for. Don’t just shotgun applications to sponsors. Use the companies name and product. A little effort here goes a long way.
- Sponsors know what they can do for you. Tell them exactly how you will help them sell more products. Be specific; take ownership of this opportunity and think like it’s your money your spending. What would you really do for return on your investment?
- Use proper English not slang. “YO sponsor me” doesn’t work in the business world.
- Profiles: If your profile is full of pictures of you doing “SICK” big air tricks with no helmet or safety gear of any kind. What do you think a sponsor will do with it? “Decline”
- After you receive sponsorship keep the sponsor updated so they can showcase your efforts. Send video, current results. Tell them how their product helped you. Get your local shop to carry the product if they don’t already. Help the sponsor justify $$ sponsoring you.
As you are well aware, it costs you $$ to compete. It cost’s us $$ to stay in business and sponsor athletes.
