                      Bio

Just a little bit about me: I was raised in Bango
r, Michigan...I know you never heard of that, just the Bangor in Maine, but I assure you that there is a Bangor in Michigan. I was a stand out football and track runner in high school and went right out of high school to play football in Europe with some amazing teams and players, and I played for two seasons. When I arrived  home that winter my father had bought me a bike and said "you're doing  an ironman with me" and that's when it all started. I was just over 200 pounds then and nothing but muscles, but soon found out that muscle was not everything in triathlons. Now I am down to 165 and lean as can be. Last year's season was geat but now I know what I must do to take it to the next level. Now, with a new bike, a swiming coach and a computranier for the off season, I am ready to  start.

Is lactic acid your friend or not?

Lactic threshold training can be your friend and your worst enemy. Lactic acid alters normal function of molecules and enzymes and in turn inhibits production of ATP. You may be wondering what ATP are- they are your body's energy source. During the swim or at the beginning of an exercise you're not getting enough oxygen to your body so you have oxygen debt. Your body is only producing 2 ATP until you hit your steady state when you produce 32 ATP and you are once again efficient with energy and oxygen. Your body will continuously go through these stages. Also, when you start an exercise or transition to the next, your ATP energy system is low again and now your body has an increase in hydrogen ions which compete with calcium tropoin (this is what helps contract your muscles) and this is when you feel like your arms and legs are heavy.  So when you become more efficient working through the stages you will become a better triathlete. So lactic threshold workouts should be implemented weekly.
