MRP is accepting sponsorship applications from 08/15/08 to 02/16/09 in MTB

That's right, the long awaited G2 is finally here and shipping out today.  The sweet looking White Party Craher bash ring is also here, shipping by it's self, or as part of the System 3 kit.  Pick one up today!

New for 2008:

G2 guide: 260 grams, big time protection AND reliable chain retention in one clean, solid package.

White Party Crasher:  You wanted it, so we made it.  Bling Bling!

The new System 3 Carbon: 40 grams lighter!!!!!  The complete system INCLUDING the ring weighs in at 215 grams!  Oh snap!

I just got back from the first ever Rocky  Mountain G3 race in Keystone, CO last weekend. What a sweet event!  The G3 is a gravity stage race, consisting of 2 downhills and 1 super-d.  Needless to say it was exhausting, but super sweet.   Timing was done with electronic chips that were attached to your right foot.  It was accurate and easy, and it enabled you to start pretty much whenever you wanted. No stress about getting to the top in time for you start time.  I ended up taking 7th in Pro Men, which was fine because on Friday I sprained my ankle bad enought that I could barely walk that night. I thought racing was out of the picture. But the medics taped it up, and I gritted it out to a pretty good finish!  I encourage you all to check out the next stop of the G3 in Sol Vista, CO. See you at the races!

Lopes and Saner win in Switzerland

GRAND JUNCTION, June 12 – MRP racer Brian Lopes proved once again that he is the worlds best 4X racer. With a nifty inside move on current World Champion Michael Prokop in the finals, Lopes launched himself into the lead and then proceeded to put a gap on Prokop and the other three racers in the final including MRP racer Filip Polc, who squeezed into third place behind Prokop.

In the women’s downhill race, it was MRP racer and hometown favorite Marielle Saner who added a second World Cup victory to her resumé. Marielle was able to put together a very fast run on what was arguably the most difficult track in the World Cups history. Congratulations on a fantastic performance Marielle!

Another MRP star, Steve Peat took second in the Men’s Downhill, moving himself into the World Cup points lead, and acquiring a sharp looking black leaders jersey in the process!

Mother nature threw everything she could at the drivetrains of these racers, and the MRP chainguides performed flawlessly in even these most adverse conditions.

MRP Racers Rock Wheels of Speed

GRAND JUNCTION, June 5 – The promise of big money was enough to entice a large group of the world’s fastest downhill racers to Willingen, Germany for the Wheels of Speed downhill race over the weekend.

Filip Polc of Gravity Group was one of the most hopeful. Fresh off a third place finish at the Lisboa Downtown race in Portugal, his confidence was high. During qualifications however, a very scary moment was about to unfold. Crashing hard, Filip was knocked unconscious for about 2 minutes. The last thing most saw of Filip on Saturday was him being rushed to the hospital. Things looked bleak.

Sunday was a new day however, and Filip was feeling better and decided to give practice a go. He’s glad he did, because once racing commenced, it was Filip's time to shine. Being one of the first to race because of his crash and subsequent low qualification time, Filip threw down the ride of his life. Marc Beaumont, described Polc’s run as “so fast, oh my god!!” And it was fast. Filip remained in the hot seat the entire race, and collected 12,000 euros as very nice congratulations.

It was a good day for other MRP athletes as well. The perennial powerhouse Steve Peat was nipping at Polc’s heals and slid in for a third place finish. Sam Blenkinsop narrowly missed the podium slotting himself into fourth place for the day.

When all was said and done, MRP was the only chain guide in the top 4.

1. Filip Polc 1:58.01 (SVK) Gravity Group/MRP

2. Greg Minnaar 1:58.03 (RSA) Honda G-Cross

3. Steve Peat 1:58.45 (GBR) Santa Cruz Syndicate/MRP

4. Sam Blenkinsop 1:58.74 (NZL) Gravity Group/MRP

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Congratulations Peaty, here’s to number six!!

GRAND JUNCTION, May 21 -- Thousands lined the course Saturday for the annual Red Bull Downtown race in Lisbon, Portugal. They gathered to watch Steve Peat defend his 5 consecutive titles of this challenging and unique race. Every year the best downhill racers in the world converge here to test themselves and their equipment on terrain quite different than the typical World Cup. Paved drops, staircases, flat corners, high-speed cobbles, and big crowds make this urban downhill difficult in many ways.

Though he surely felt the pressure, Steve Peat looked supremely confident on his way to destroying the competition for his sixth title in as many years! After throwing down the top qualifying time, Steve charged through the final with a shocking time of 1:39:65, besting his teammate Nathan Rennie by almost three seconds on this super short course.

Another MRP sponsored athlete, Gravity Group’s Filip Polc gave Peaty a good run, finishing in third place at the end of the day with a time of 1:42:44. Polc sat in the hot seat until Nathan Rennie squeaked in front with a time of 1:42:28.

In the women’s event, MRP’s Fionn Griffiths finished in fifth place, despite having a tough race including a crash down some stairs.
