Freestyle Launches Online Community and Contest on Loop’d Network to Discover New Action Sports Talent
Freestyle leverages Web 2.0 capabilities of Loop’d Network for “Are You Next?” contest
SAN DIEGO – December 17, 2007– Loop’d Network, a social media platform exclusively for online sports communities, today announced its strategic partnership with Freestyle, the original action sports watch manufacturer. Freestyle launched a contest on Loop’d Network called “Are You Next?” on November 28, 2007, that will culminate in a year-long sponsorship for one winner. With a network of more than 225,000 members that interconnects social communities dedicated to action, endurance and motor sports, as well as key lifestyle brands, Loop’d Network is an ideal fit for Freestyle which has been a surf-centric brand since it was founded in 1981. Freestyle will choose 12 weekly winners based on video and photo entries. Weekly winners will receive a Freestyle prize pack which includes a watch, t-shirt, hat and sticker packs. Contestants can enter every week for 12 weeks. The grand prize winner, to be announced on February 29, 2008, will win a one-year sponsorship and a spot on Freestyle’s flow team as well as six watches per year, t-shirts, hats, accessories and stickers.
According to Chad Labass, marketing director at Freestyle, the company chose Loop’d Network over other online communities because of its successful track record of building purpose-driven communities focused on action sports and its ability to seamlessly blend brands, like Freestyle, into the social network experience.
“We’re actively seeking to expand our brand recognition and grow our business beyond the West and East coasts, where we’re already well known,” said Labass. “Loop’d Network allows us to instantly reach a targeted youth demographic passionate about action sports throughout the country. With more than 1,100 entrants and 1,500 pictures and videos uploaded in the first week alone, the ‘Are You Next?’ contest on Loop’d is exceeding our expectations so far.”
